Performance Task #2: Correlation and Regression Analysis
Objectives: Apply your understanding of correlation and regression analysis by collecting, analyzing, and
presenting real classroom-based data.
Task Overview:
1. Students will be grouped into five (5) groups.
2. Each group will select or be assigned a topic about classroom-based data.
• Study Habits vs Performance
- You can use the “number of hours spent per week” and the “test score in a particular exam”
• Review time before exam vs Exam score
- Hours spent reviewing before exam and the score in a particular exam
• Sleep duration vs Exam score
- Hours of sleep before exam and test score in an exam
• Attendance vs Academic performance
- Number of days present and average grade in a particular subject (math)
• Gadget use vs Performance
- Hours of using phone/social media per day and average grade in a particular subject (math)
3. Collect data using Google forms.
Important Guidelines:
- The data should be numerical (quantitative)
- Collected data should at least 10-15 students/data (YOU CAN SURVEY YOUR
CLASSMATES)
- You must identify the independent and dependent variable on your survey. (e.g. if your
topic is “study time vs math scores” the independent variable is “hours of study per
week” and the dependent variable is “math scores”)
- Write your data in this format:
Student X (variable) Y (variable)
1
4. Data Analysis
• Compute the correlation coefficient (r)
• Find the regression analysis (if r is significant)
5. Interpretation
• Conclusion about the results
6. Presentation
• Prepare a 5–7-minute presentation including:
- Title of your study
- Variables (x and y)
- Data gathered (table or summary)
- Correlation result (r value + verbal interpretation)
- Regression (if any)
- Conclusion
• You may use PowerPoint, Canva, etc.
7. Date of Presentation: a week before 4th quarter exam (online class). April 6 -11, 2026.
