REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE INTEGRATED POST-GRADUATE PROGRAMME

IN THE FACULTY OF MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES

Background:

In the digital age, the synergy of mathematical modeling, statistical inference, and computational
techniques is fundamental to addressing complex real-world problems. From fintech to bioinformatics, and
from climate modeling to social network analysis, Mathematical Sciences underpin key technologies
shaping modern economies. Furthermore, the rise of AI, ML, Technologies and Big Data, Data Analytics
has created an urgent need for professionals who possess not only domain-specific coding skills but also a
deep conceptual understanding of probability theory, linear algebra, optimization, data structures, and
algorithm design.

This integrated programme is envisaged to cater to the emerging academic and industrial needs in the
domains of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Data Analytics, Scientific Computing, and
Algorithmic Problem Solving. The programme aims to bridge the gap between theory and application,
fostering a new generation of scholars and professionals equipped with mathematical and computational
abilities and critical thinking to tackle future challenges in academia, research, and industry.

Objectives of the Programme:

 To provide a rigorous foundation in Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science from an integrated
perspective.
 To train students in modern computational tools, machine learning frameworks, and data analytic
techniques.
 To develop problem-solving abilities, analytical thinking, and research-oriented skills necessary for
academic and industry success.
 To prepare graduates for careers in research, data science, AI, quantitative finance, software
development, and in public and private sector.
 To promote interdisciplinary knowledge creation and innovation.

Proposed Structure of the Programme:

The programme will span over five years (10 semesters) and lead to an Integrated Master Degree in
Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications. The curriculum will be structured into core modules,
electives, project work, seminars, presentations, and collaborative projects and internships. The final
semester is devoted exclusively to a research project. The following major disciplines are available in the
Programme:

 Computer Applications
 Mathematics
 Statistics
Semesters 1, 2 and 3: A systematic exposure to Statistical, Mathematical and Computer Applications will
take place during the first three semesters along with courses in Management, Humanities, Social Sciences
and other Interdisciplinary areas for a well-rounded learning experience.

Semesters 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10: At the beginning of the fourth semester, each student will choose a
discipline either in Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications for specialization ("major") according to
his/her academic interest. All these specializations are interdisciplinary in nature and will have adequate
exposure to other disciplines.

1. Exit Option:

The Students on acquiring the requisite credits will have the options to exit the course with award of
following certificate/Diploma/Three Year Bachelor Degree/ Four Year Bachelor Degree:

S. No. Exit Award

Duration
1. 1 year Certificate in Web Designing
