grammar schools, voluntary schools and community schools.
Generally, the table reflects that the least popular school by the end of the given
period is specialist school and it went through a slight decrease in the number
of students, whereas community schools recorded the highest percentage after
it had had the least percentage in 2000. Overall, all percentages decreased apart

Dear Bob,
How’s life, buddy? I haven’t seen you since we met last time at my brother’s wedding. I’m glad
to hear that you have decided to learn driving. The idea of learning to drive will change your life.
But firstly, you need to have driving license which can be a way round to remove all the
restrictions to drive anywhere with freedom. You’ll be independent in handling routine tasks for
instance office, shopping and any family errands. It’s also a social and legal responsibility of
being an ideal citizen.
Secondly, you need to search for a good driving school with supportive and experience
instructors. I’d like to recommend the Hall Driving School in the down town. I, myself, have
learnt from this renowned driving school. All the instructors are well trained and experienced
professionals. The medium of instructions include both theoretical as well as practical aspects.
Moreover, you’ll learn the traffic rules as well which are the foremost important in today’s life.
Lastly, to become proficient in all aspects, you have to appear for an exam to test your
knowledge of driving before obtaining license. I think, a two –week course will be enough for
you to be perfect and clear the driving trust, although you may need a follow up later. If I were
you, I’d start right away. (advice in a complex structure)
I hope my advice will serve the purpose and call me if you have any questions. Please say hello
to your beloved family.
Love,
Mike
Sample Semi-formal Letter
Dear ..................,
I hope you are doing great. It is a shame that we do not know each other very
well and I would like to apologise for that. I am writing this letter in response to
your complaint letter that you sent me yesterday about the noise from my flat. I
sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and humbly ask for your forgiveness.
With the concern about home safety, my wife and I decided to install a few
smoke detectors in our flat, especially after we saw a devastating fire in our
neighbourhood lately. We bought the devices from an online store and started
to install and test the gadgets last Sunday. To ensure that the sound of the fire
alarm is loud enough and everyone in the house would notice it, we tested the
devices for about 30 minutes. Although the testing took place at midday last
Sunday, my wife and I are terribly sorry that your child’s nap was interrupted.
I really regret the event and request your forgiveness. Please accept this box of
chocolate as a token of my deepest regret for the inconvenience. We will be
more careful next time.
Yours sincerely,
Paul Lesner
