SHOULD WE BAN ANIMAL EXPERIMENTS ?

Good morning everyone, let me start with a question.
When you buy a product like a shampoo, a lipstick, or even medicine, do you ever wonder how it
was tested before it reached you? The truth is, many of these products have been tested on
[Link] year, millions of animals are used in laboratories around the world. They are
exposed to chemicals, confined in small spaces, and often suffer in ways we rarely see.
For a long time, people believed this was necessary for human [Link] today, with advances
in science and changing social values, this belief is being challenged.
So the question we need to ask is: Should animal testing be banned?
In this presentation, we strongly believe that animal testing should be banned, as it is no longer
necessary or justified in modern society.

I. Animal testing is cruel and inhumane
First of all, animal testing is cruel and inhumane because it causes unnecessary suffering and
cannot be ethically justified.
1. Animals experience real physical and psychological pain
Animals used in laboratories are exposed to toxic chemicals, invasive procedures, and extreme
conditions. According to a scientific study titled “The dark side of animal experiments,” many
animals are used in toxicology tests, where they are deliberately exposed to harmful substances
in order to observe their reactions. In addition, these animals are often physically restrained and
forced to undergo painful procedures, which can cause unnecessary suffering and stress. The
study clearly states that animals in such experiments are subjected to “toxicology tests” that
result in “unnecessary pain and stress.”
As a result, they can suffer from serious physical harm such as burns, blindness, infections, or
long-term damage. Moreover, they also experience psychological stress, as living in small cages
and unnatural environments causes fear, anxiety, and abnormal behavior.
More importantly, the scale of this suffering is extremely large. A major research paper titled
“The Flaws and Human Harms of Animal Experimentation” highlights that animal testing
involves significant suffering and consumes immense resources. In fact, it is estimated that over
115 million animals are used in experiments every year worldwide. This number clearly shows
that animal testing is not an isolated issue, but a widespread practice affecting millions of living
beings.
Therefore, this evidence strongly supports the idea that animal testing involves significant harm,
both physically and psychologically.
2. Animals cannot give consent
Another important point is that animals cannot give consent. They do not understand what is
happening to them or why they are being used in experiments. They have no ability to refuse, no
voice to express their suffering, and no way to escape. Humans have complete control over their
lives, which creates a serious imbalance of power. From an ethical perspective, using living
beings in this way, without their consent, raises significant moral concerns and questions the
justification of such practices.
3. Much of the suffering is unnecessary, especially in cosmetics
Furthermore, much of this suffering is unnecessary, particularly in the cosmetics industry. Many
products tested on animals, such as lipstick, shampoo, and skincare items, are not essential for
human survival. This makes the suffering even harder to justify. Causing harm to animals for
non-essential purposes, especially for beauty and convenience, highlights how unethical this
practice can be. In today’s modern society, where alternative methods are increasingly available,
continuing such practices becomes even more questionable.
