In the year 2023, abortion rights in the USA continued to be among the most controversial and

contentious topics, especially after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. This act
constituted an enormous shift in the legal position of federal protections regarding abortion rights and all
federal protections regarding a woman's right to choose. Thus, there are no longer federal protections, and
each state may enact its own law for or against abortion rights. Whether you can procure an abortion in
any state will be fundamentally dependent on where you live.
Texas is among the most restrictive states, and as of this writing (2023), abortion is nearly
completely illegal after the "trigger law" was enacted. The trigger law prohibits a person from procuring
an abortion at any stage of pregnancy, including when the law was enacted, unless the pregnancy poses a
serious risk to the life of the woman. Under the trigger law, anyone who is supportive of a person
procuring an abortion at any point in the pregnancy—including the health care provider—is personally
