What is biblical modesty?
Biblical modesty is the inward posture of humility, self-control, and
reverence for God that governs outward appearance and behavior, so that
the body honors God, reflects godly character, and does not intentionally
provoke lust, pride, or manipulation in others.
🔥 This study is for a deeper biblical understanding concerning modesty, this
is not a time to debate what you think biblical modesty is.🔥
This is my 20 years as minister, giving you my biblical insight through prayer
and much pain.
We can discus what you grew up in, personal conviction, or traditional views,
but we will not debate anything contrary to what is biblically found to be
true.
THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT A TIME TO BAD MOUTH HOW HORRIBLE THE
CHURCH IS TODAY!
If you want to talk to me about that, lets plan lunch and block out about 3
hours of your time. So we can talk.🔥
IM NOT BEING RUDE, I HAVE BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK OF TIME OR TWO
CONCERNING PERSONAL CONVICTION BASED ON TRADITION AND BIBLICAL
PRINCIPLES.
On the other side of this coin YOU ARE SAVED BY GRACE AND YOU HAVE
LIBERTY TO RUN AROUND HALF NAKED...
We are learning what modesty is and what modesty is not.
Concerning tradition WHICH I LOVE AND STILL HOLD TRUE in some areas, but
also personal conviction, personal conviction that is biblical based... BUT
THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO DEBATE HEMLINE REGULATIONS, WHEN PEOPLE ARE
GOING TO HELL AS WE SPEAK.
People naked and CLOTHED WITH FABRIC TO THE FLOOR. Both men and
women!
Let us begin...
So are YOU, not your brother, not your sister but are YOU dressing modestly?
But it's me oh Lord!
Are you dressing like a pimp, (to rule over people) or like a hooker ( to hook
the eyes of the guys on you?)
Different perspective...
Or, are you dressing like a pimp to pop that devil in the eye, when messing
with a child of God who is dressing like a hooker to be a fisher of men and
HOOK them FOR the Lord? 🤟🏾😆
If we catch them…the Lord will clean them.
So are YOU, not your brother, not your sister but are YOU dressing modestly?
The 7 times two....Modesty Test (NKJV)
(For men and women)
14 questions....Here we go..
1️⃣ What is my intent?
Am I dressing to honor God or to draw attention to myself?
📖 1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV)
“For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward
appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
📖 Matthew 6:1 (NKJV)
“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen
by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.”
🔥Principle: Seduction begins with intent, not exposure.
2️⃣ What does this emphasize first: character or the body?
Does my appearance point to who I am in Christ or what I look like?
📖 1 Peter 3:3–4 (NKJV)
“Do not let your adornment be merely outward… rather let it be the hidden
person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet
spirit.”
📖 Proverbs 31:25 (NKJV)
“Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come.”
🔥Principle: Biblical modesty highlights character before curves, muscle, or
style.
3️⃣ Am I using my appearance to gain validation, power, or control?
Am I dressing to be affirmed rather than to be faithful?
📖 Galatians 1:10 (NKJV)
“For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still
pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.”
📖 1 Timothy 2:9–10 (NKJV)
“…that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and
moderation… with good works.”
🔥Principle: When appearance becomes a tool for validation, modesty has
already been lost.
4️⃣ Could this reasonably provoke lust or unnecessary distraction?
Am I loving others enough to consider impact, not just freedom?
📖 Romans 14:13 (NKJV)
“Resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s
way.”
📖 Matthew 18:7 (NKJV)
“Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to
that man by whom the offense comes!”
🔥Principle: Love limits liberty when liberty harms others.
5️⃣ Does this reflect self-control or self-display?
Am I governed by the Spirit or by impulse?
📖 Galatians 5:22–23 (NKJV)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace… self-control. Against such there
is no law.”
📖 Titus 2:11–12 (NKJV)
“…teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live
soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.”
🔥Principle: Modesty is an outward sign of inner discipline.
6️⃣ Am I honoring my body as God’s possession, not my product?
Do I see my body as something to offer, not advertise?
📖 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NKJV)
“Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit… you are not your own…
therefore glorify God in your body.”
📖 Romans 12:1 (NKJV)
“…present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is
your reasonable service.”
🔥Principle:
Ownership theology determines wardrobe theology.
7️⃣ If Christ were physically present with me today, would I change anything?
Does my appearance align with reverence?
📖 Colossians 3:17 (NKJV)
“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
📖 Hebrews 12:28 (NKJV)
“…let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence
and godly fear.”
🔥THIS IS THE PRINCIPAL: The presence of Christ clarifies gray areas quickly.
In all truth when we look at question 7... If Christ were physically present
with me today, would I change anything?
This answer came from a saint of God....
"Would you change your outfit, would it change the music you listen to,
would it change the places you go, would it change your conversation."
It should because, if you are saved, Jesus is with you.
If you are content (standing in LIBERTY) with no conviction THEN be where
the Lord's placed you and save souls.
Walk on the streets, talk to the drunks, talk to the druggie, talk to the men
whores and women whores (it's in the Bible), get them out of those hurtful
carnal relationships.
Talk to the religious folk, those who have convictions that are making them
bitter, depressed and stressed... judgmental and prideful, but don't judge
them to hell, love them to heaven.
Let's get THEM right with God through love and grace!
Not a list of rules and a tape measure! Let's get THEM saved through Jesus!
Hallelujah!
He is spiritually with you and we are to be physical biblical representations of
who He is.
TODAY!
Modesty is not measured by fabric alone, but by intent, self-control,
reverence, and love for God and others.
Where Scripture governs the heart, modesty will govern the appearance.
