Final Project Presentation
ECE901 Semiconductor deposition techniques Spring 2026
Important instruction- Oral Project presentations (upload presentation on Canvas
by April 13th 11:59 pm)
Upload link will be on Canvas- you can upload a powerpoint format to avoid technical
difficulties pdf format is advised. Any issues with file format/wrong file upload causing
delay in set up will be deducted from the 15 min presentation time.
Your final project presentation will consist of a
1) 15 minute in-class presentation using MS Powerpoint/Pdf form of
the powerpoint (25% of the grade), this should be shorter form of
the technical report so refer to the details in technical report contents
in the file “Final report template” to understand what is expected from
the report and presentation.
- Dates of presentation will be posted on Canvas with file name
“Project list”. For each day, the presentation slots will go in
alphabetical order per speaker’s first name as they will appear on
this file. So please check out the list carefully to know when you
need to present exactly.
2) I will remind you when 5 minutes are left and 1 minute is left and you
will be asked to stop presenting at 15 minutes mark exactly and will be
graded on what you present by then.
3) After 15 minutes of presentation the instructor will take a QnA session
of 5 minutes, followed by maximum 3-4 minutes QnA from other students. This
way we can have 3 presenters per class. Any follow up questions should be
directed by students to their peers after the class.
Strict penalties for not following the above directions.
Slide organization recommendation (contents very similar to the report but need to
be succinct), try to incorporate more figures, less text and overall less busy slides
so the audience will listen to what you have to say rather than reading the slides-
1. Literature survey and motivation+applications – recommended 3-4 slides
(under 3 minutes)
2. Layer structure for the targeted application – recommended 1-2 slides
(under 2 minutes)
3. Reactor design and reactants – flow conditions and growth rate – no slide
limit (under 4 minutes)- okay to move things around between #3 & #4
4. Fluid mechanics and transport numbers (or any other relevant parameters)
– no slide limit (under 4 minutes)
5. Future improvements/suggestions – no slide limits (under 2 minutes)
Grading rubric- How well each of the above components were addressed (3 points
each+ 5 points for addressing the QnA session well)
Grades will be on a relative scale with the performance expectations going up each
week.
The instructor will share the feedback on Canvas with each student at the end of
the presentation week that the students can utilize to improve their report. For
students who feel their presentation is too late in the semester and can barely
incorporate my comments in their report- please attend other student
presentations- and see what questions are being asked in class- sometimes those
are indicators of potential deficiencies- and most importantly DO NOT wait for your
presentation to get started on the report, your presentation and my feedback are
just one tiny way to improve your report, rest you should have everything you need
to be able to get started and complete your report end to end by the deadline.
Office hours- you are free to ask help during the reactor design process, I will try
my best to help you guide but at the end of the day YOU need to design the reactor,
so please work as per that principle.
All students are expected to attend other presentations in the spirit of learning more
about other material systems and deposition details- to help shape their own
presentations and reports.
