1. Genre
Genre: Drama (with inspirational elements)

What is Drama?

Drama focuses on realistic characters, emotional conflict, and serious themes. It

usually explores moral dilemmas, relationships, or life-changing decisions.

How I Used It:

This play centers on a student facing a difficult moral choice that affects
friendship, reputation, and future goals. The tension is realistic and emotionally
driven rather than humorous or exaggerated.

2. Development of the Main Character

Main Character: Elena Rodriguez

Definition of a Main Character:

The main character (protagonist) is the central figure in the story. The plot revolves
around their choices, conflicts, and development.

Elena’s Traits:

• Responsible
• Ambitious
• Loyal to her friends
• Struggles with pressure and fear of failure

How She Develops:

At the beginning, Elena fears losing a scholarship opportunity. She is tempted to

act dishonestly. By the end, she chooses integrity over success and grows
emotionally stronger.
3. Lesson (Theme)
Theme: Integrity is more valuable than success gained dishonestly.

Explanation:

The play shows that short-term success achieved through cheating can lead to
long-term consequences. True success comes from honesty and courage.

4. Plot Creation
Setting:

• Location: A modern high school classroom and hallway

• Time: Present day, during final exam week

Plot Summary:

obtains the exam answers and offers to share them. Elena must choose between
guaranteed success and doing the right thing. She refuses, reports the situation, and
risks losing her friendship. In the end, integrity earns her respect and a stronger
sense of self-worth.

5. Structure of the Play

The structure follows a classic five-part dramatic structure:

1. Exposition – Introduction of characters and situation

Class, remember — tomorrow’s exam determines the scholarship

(Students murmur. MARCUS approaches ELENA.)

MARCUS:
You ready to win that scholarship?

I hope so. My family is counting on it.

What if I told you there’s a way to guarantee it?

(ELENA looks confused as lights fade.)

Scene Two – The Offer
(Hallway after school.)

(lowered voice)
I got a copy of the exam. Every question.

(shocked)
How?

MARCUS:
That doesn’t matter. We can both ace it.

ELENA:
That’s cheating.

It’s surviving.
