This day marked our first session in the NSTP program, which involved the
signing of a memorandum of agreement at Barangay Geronimo, Montalban, Rizal. I
was eager to begin the day, especially since the location was conveniently close to
my residence. However, in all honesty, my overall experience did not meet my
expectations.
I had anticipated that the session would include an orientation seminar or the
assignment of specific tasks that would allow us to actively engage in the program.
Contrary to my expectations, the event concluded shortly after the opening remarks
and the signing ceremony. As a result, I found the experience somewhat
underwhelming.
Despite this, I appreciated the opportunity to wear our NSTP shirt, as I found
its design appealing. Nonetheless, I feel that I have limited reflections to share, given
that the activities conducted during the day did not provide sufficient engagement or
learning experiences for deeper realization

On the second day of our NSTP, I found the experience more engaging and
meaningful, as we were assigned to conduct interviews and surveys among
residents of Barangay Geronimo. This activity provided me with valuable insights into
the community’s environmental practices. I observed that many residents are aware
of proper waste segregation within their households; however, there are still some
who are unable to consistently apply these practices.
Furthermore, the activity allowed me to identify several pressing issues within
the community. One of the primary concerns raised by residents is flooding, which is
largely attributed to the improper management of drainage systems and irregular
garbage collection, which sometimes occurs only once every two weeks. It was also
disheartening to learn that the barangay has limited initiatives aimed at improving
community welfare, and that some local officials appear to neglect their
responsibilities.
Despite these challenges, the experience served as an awakening for me as
a student. I realized that even in small ways, we have the capacity to contribute to
positive change. Through NSTP activities such as this, we can help raise awareness
of these issues and bring them to the attention of community leaders and authorities,
with the goal of fostering a cleaner and healthier environment. Moreover, I believe it
is important to apply the lessons I have learned not only within the community but
also in my own household and university.

The third day of our NSTP was the most challenging for me, as it was the day
we conducted our seminar. I was assigned to lead our section throughout the
process, from organizing the flow of information to preparing the necessary
presentation materials. The day presented several difficulties, particularly when we
realized that all of our sample products had been left at the university. This required
someone to retrieve the materials promptly, which added pressure to our
preparation.
Despite these challenges, I am grateful to God because we were still able to
successfully carry out and deliver the seminar. I believe that this outcome reflects our
teamwork, perseverance, and commitment to fulfilling our responsibilities.
I was also part of the assisting team, where we supported the speakers by
encouraging audience participation, especially during the icebreaker activities. This
role allowed me to observe how engagement plays a crucial part in making a
seminar effective and interactive.
Through this experience, I realized the importance of raising awareness and
educating people about recycling. Promoting such practices can contribute
significantly to environmental improvement. It is far better to live in a community
where materials are reused and recycled than in one where everything is new but
results in a polluted, disorganized, and unhealthy environment. This activity
reinforced my understanding that sustainable practices are essential in creating a
cleaner, safer, and more livable community.

The final day of our NSTP was not significantly different from the second day,
as it involved similar activities, learning experiences, and realizations. We once
again conducted surveys and interviews within the community, which reinforced the
insights we had previously gained.
The primary difference, however, was the increased number of residents we were
able to engage with, allowing for a broader understanding of the community’s
situation. This provided a more comprehensive perspective on the issues and
practices observed during our earlier visit.

Overall, the experience remained enjoyable and meaningful. The final day served as
a fitting conclusion to our NSTP activities, as it reaffirmed the value of our efforts and
made the entire experience feel worthwhile.
