 ABSTRACT

Plastic pollution has become one of the most serious environmental problems in

today’s world. The excessive use of plastic, especially single-use plastic, leads to

environmental degradation, water pollution, and harm to wildlife. This project focuses

on creating awareness about reducing plastic usage and promoting eco-friendly

alternatives.

The initiative aims to educate people about the harmful effects of plastic and

encourage sustainable practices such as using cloth bags, avoiding plastic bottles,

and proper waste management. Through awareness campaigns and community

participation, this project helps in building a cleaner and healthier environment.

This project focuses on spreading awareness about reducing plastic usage and

encouraging eco-friendly alternatives. It also highlights the importance of community

participation in maintaining a clean and sustainable environment.

 INTRODUCTION

In modern society, plastic has become an essential part of daily life due to its

convenience and low cost. However, its non-biodegradable nature makes it a

major environmental threat. Plastic waste accumulates in landfills, oceans,

and streets, causing pollution and affecting human and animal life.

The purpose of this project, Plastic Free Community Awareness, is to reduce

plastic usage by educating people and promoting eco-friendly habits. This

project highlights the importance of responsible consumption and community

participation in environmental protection.

In today’s modern world, plastic has become an essential part of our daily life

because it is cheap and easily available. However, plastic is non-

biodegradable and creates serious environmental problems.

Plastic waste accumulates in oceans, landfills, and streets, leading to pollution

and harming animals and humans. The aim of this project is to create

awareness among people about the harmful effects of plastic and promote

eco-friendly alternatives like cloth bags and reusable items.

 Literature Review

Various studies and research have highlighted that plastic pollution is

one of the major environmental challenges faced globally. According to

recent environmental reports, plastic waste significantly contributes to

land and marine pollution, affecting ecosystems and biodiversity.

Research by environmental organizations shows that single-use

plastics, such as plastic bags, bottles, and packaging materials, are the

main contributors to pollution. These plastics take hundreds of years to

decompose, leading to long-term environmental damage.

Studies also emphasize the importance of community awareness in

reducing plastic usage. Awareness programs help people understand

the harmful effects of plastic and encourage them to adopt eco-friendly

During the project, it was observed that many people were unaware of

In conclusion, the project on Plastic Free Community Awareness has

of the main reasons behind excessive plastic usage.

 Recommendations:

To achieve a plastic-free community, several practical steps need to be

implemented effectively. Firstly, people should be encouraged to reduce the

use of single-use plastics such as plastic bags, bottles, and packaging

materials. Instead, eco-friendly alternatives like cloth bags, paper bags, and

reusable containers should be promoted.

Secondly, awareness programs should be conducted regularly in schools,

colleges, and local communities to educate people about the harmful effects

of plastic pollution. Government authorities should also implement strict rules

and regulations to control plastic usage and ensure proper waste

management.

Additionally, recycling practices should be encouraged, and proper waste
