PREFACE

In the fast-paced digital era, communication plays a pivotal role in fostering personal
and professional connections. However, many existing platforms struggle to meet
the evolving expectations of users. They often lack real-time interaction, user-
friendly designs, and customization options, leaving users yearning for a modern,
efficient, and feature-rich solution. Recognizing this gap, ChatWave was envisioned
as a dynamic chat application that harnesses the power of the MERN stack to create
an engaging and seamless communication experience.

ChatWave is built with cutting-edge technologies such as [Link] for real-time

messaging, Cloudinary for efficient image sharing, and Tailwind CSS for responsive
design. The integration of tools like React-Hot-Toast for error notifications and
Zustand for state management ensures that the platform remains reliable, interactive,
and robust. It allows users to personalize their experience through theme
customization, manage their profiles with secure authentication, and connect with
others seamlessly through online status indicators and filters. The combination of
functionality and design makes ChatWave a versatile solution tailored to modern
communication needs.

Deployed on the Render platform, ChatWave reflects a commitment to performance,

scalability, and user-centric design. From creating accounts and sharing media to
receiving real-time notifications, every feature is thoughtfully crafted to enhance
usability. The application serves as a testament to the possibilities of contemporary
web development by delivering a secure, responsive, and visually appealing
environment for users. It not only meets the current demands of chat applications but
also lays the foundation for future enhancements like voice/video calling and AI-
driven assistants.

MongoDB, [Link], [Link], and [Link], which ensures scalability,
efficiency, and performance. The incorporation of [Link] enables
seamless real-time messaging, while Cloudinary facilitates image
storage and sharing with reliability. Additionally, Vite is employed for
optimized development, and tools like Tailwind CSS and DaisyUI
contribute to creating a responsive and visually appealing design. These
technologies are widely adopted and trusted, making ChatWave
technically feasible for implementation and growth.

Operational Feasibility
ChatWave is designed with user-friendliness in mind, offering features
such as real-time messaging, customizable themes, and image sharing.

DATA FLOW

A Data Flow has only one direction of flow between symbols. It may
flow in both directions between a process and a data store to show a read
before an update. The latter is usually indicated however by two separate

arrows since these happen at different type.

A join in DFD means that exactly the same data comes from any of two or
more different processes data store or sink to a common location.

 A data flow cannot go directly back to the same process it leads.

There must be at least one other process that handles the data flow
produce some other data flow returns the original data into the
beginning process.

 A data flow to a data store means update (delete or change).

 A data flow from a data store means retrieve or use.

A data flow has a noun phrase label more than one data flow noun
phrase can appear on a single arrow as long as all of the flows on the
same arrow move together as one package.

SECURITY

The main and the most important is regarding the maintenance of the
system. System’s CPU is mainly responsible for the overall
performance of the PC. Therefore it should be handled with great
care.
The complete system should be prevented from moisture and dust
which greatly to effects it. Subsequent virus tests should be made in
order to get rid of virus attacks, which affect the various part of PC.
Some do directly affect the boot sectors which thus need great
security and preventable steps time to time in order to keep the system
perfect. So the security of the system is very necessary that make our
system reliable and secure from outside world.
There is various level of security that we can provide our application
software is the:

1. Physical Security.

2. Operating System Level Security.

3. Database Security.

4. Application Security.

5. Master File and Parameter Maintenance.

6. System Administration.

Homesh Sahu [MCA-II Sem] Page 16

Project Report On ChatWave 2025

There are two types of security used in my project they are:-

1. WEBPAGE SECURITY:-

The most important fact about the security of the webpage is that the
once the user saves their data and logs in then only they can access this
webpage. So the data cannot be altered if once it is been entered and
registered.

2. DATA SECURITY:-

There is another security that I used in my project is the data security by

not allowing any other data entry for the details of users. Through it only
the data will be entered and saved any other users cannot make any
manipulation in data.

Project Report On ChatWave 2025

ADVANTAGES
 It is portable.

 System will be user friendly.

 High speed processing.

 Easy to use and user friendly.

 Real time bi-directional data transmission.

 Less Expensive.

 Aids in exchange of information.

LIMITATIONS

1. Lack of Advanced Features: Currently, ChatWave does not support voice

or video calling, limiting its functionality for multimedia
communication.
2. Basic File Sharing: The platform only supports image sharing, leaving
out the ability to share other file types like documents or PDFs.
3. Limited Security Options: While it uses bcrypt and JSON Web Tokens,
it does not yet have additional security measures like two-factor
authentication.
4. No Multilingual Support: ChatWave only operates in one language,
which could restrict its usability for a global audience.
5. Scalability Challenges: While built on a scalable stack, heavy traffic or
sudden user influxes may pose challenges without further optimization.
6. Lack of AI Integration: Features like AI-driven chatbots or intelligent
message recommendations are not implemented.

Homesh Sahu [MCA-II Sem] Page 18

Project Report On ChatWave 2025

FUTURE ENHANCEMENT

1. Voice and Video Calling: Adding multimedia communication

capabilities to make the platform more versatile for personal and
professional use.
2. Advanced File Sharing: Extending file-sharing functionality to include
documents, PDFs, and other file types beyond images.
3. AI-Driven Chat Assistants: Introducing intelligent bots for automated
responses, scheduling, or assisting users with common queries.
4. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Enhancing security measures by
incorporating 2FA to ensure user accounts are more secure.
5. Multilingual Support: Expanding language options to cater to a global
audience and make the platform inclusive.
6. Custom Emojis and Stickers: Allowing users to use or upload
personalized emojis and stickers to enhance the chat experience.
7. Group Chat Features: Adding functionalities like group creation,
admin roles, and group notifications for team collaboration or larger
social interactions.
8. Message Reactions and Editing: Enabling users to react to messages
with emojis or edit sent messages for better interaction and usability.
