MS Project Practice Exercise

The planning department of an electronics firm has set up the activities for developing and production
of a new phone. Given the information below, develop a project network using Microsoft Project.
Assume a five-day work week and the project starts on January 2, 2020.

Steps:

1. Click on Project menu tab on top bar, Select Project Information on the second row and select start
date as January 2, 2020
2. While in the Project menu tab select Change Working Time on the second row and verify 5 day work
week (if not 5 days the select details and make the change)
3. Enter description in the Task Name column
4. Enter Activity Time in the Duration column
5. Enter Activity Predecessors in Predecessors column
6. Make sure all Task Mode column is Auto Schedule (Use Task tab, Auto Schedule).
7. Identify the tasks on the critical path (go to format and check box Critical Tasks)
8. What is the project end date?
9. Add activity resources in the Resource Name column
10. Check resource allocations (View > Other Views, pull down to Resource Graph)
11. Is any resource over allocated? Who? How many days? By how much?
