Problem Set # 9 Solution

The document outlines a problem set for a Computer Vision course at the German University in Cairo. It involves using median filtering to estimate the static background of three 4x4 images and applying differential motion analysis to detect motion in a fourth image. The task includes specific image data and a threshold for motion detection.

Problem Set # 9
Problem 1

Consider the sequence of three 4 x 4 images given below (Images 1 to 3). In all images, only 3 colors are present:
Black = 0, Gray = 128 and White = 255.

i - Show how median filtering can be used to estimate the static background of the sequence Image 1, Image 2 and
Image 3.

ii - Use the estimated background to detect motion in Image 4 using differential motion analysis with threshold = 50.
