Possible Alternative Solutions

Market Info is a community organization that conducts surveys for the welfare of other

organizations. Respecting customer information is a very important aspect of business ethics

(Street, 2019). So, there are several solutions that can be opted to protect the privacy and data

of the general public.

 The first one is that rather than providing the data to the other companies and

indulging in unethical practices, there is a need to do the survey and other important

things which that company wants to do, on behalf of that company by charging a very

little amount of money. The Money which the Market Info charged from the Quellin,

considered an unethical practice and results in the leakage of the important data of the

company. This is considered the best solution because charging money for the work is

genuine but not for the leakage of the data.

 Not only this, Market Info is the company that conducts surveys not selling the data.

Although, it is not a nonprofit organization the maintaining privacy of the people who

trust them reliably is important and by doing this it has done things unethically.

Instead of selling data, the Market Info can provide the overview of the data by

analyzing the data available with them and charge very small fees which is affordable

by new business units in the neighborhood. This is also helpful for the community and

ensures that they have earned something. Moreover, Market Info can also use that

money for further projects for community service.

Decide On Action

There are two opportunities that arise for Sharon. The first one is that she is getting a new

project as an assistant project manager if she did not feel comfortable with the current one.

The second one is selling the information in the market to earn more and more money. From

both of these situations, one is ethical and another one is unethical. If Sharon also starts

selling information then she is performing wrong and unethical and does not feel it good.

Rather she should work on the new project. She would be in the same position and thus she

can also perform ethically over there. Moreover, she also gets an opportunity to prove herself

over there with the same enthusiasm. Sharon is a sensible employee and the concept of Non-

Anonymous is against the business ethics as well as code of conduct by Canada’s Law. Apart

from this, at the new project, she was away from non-anonymity as well.

By selling information to the market and the new marketers she is doing with the

general public which is very wrong according to Canadian Law of Business ethics. Not only

this, selling information to the general public results in the loss of their privacy. Money-

making is not the ultimate goal of the business. The general public is one of the biggest

stakeholders of the company. They provide the information to the people by expecting they

maintain their privacy (Hanks, n.d.) but in actuality Market Info is not performing ethically

and results in Fraud which is not tolerable by Sharon.
