State FAQs
1. General Information
1. What is the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS)?
PMIS is a Government of India initiative, anchored by the Ministry of Corporate
Affairs (MCA), to provide 6 or 9 month internships in top companies through a
centralized digital portal and mobile app. The scheme aims to strengthen
employability by exposing youth to real‑world business environments. Existing
interns from earlier pilot rounds may continue at 12 months as notified.
2. Does PMIS guarantee jobs?
No.
PMIS is designed to enhance employability via structured internships; employment is
not guaranteed. Partner companies may extend job offers at their discretion; an
internship offer does not create an employer–employee relationship with MCA or the
company.
2. Mandate & Governance
3. Who governs PMIS and how is it structured?
Ministry of Corporate Affairs. A Monitoring & Steering Committee (MSC) oversees
design, implementation, and guideline modifications. Implementation is end‑to‑end

Directors (RDs) and Registrars of Companies (RoC) conduct targeted mobilization
with States Nodal Departments and Partner Companies.

will be disbursed within 15 days of confirmation of joining the internship. The
second tranche (i.e. Rs. 3000/-) will be released within 15 days of completion of 3
months of internship.
Q15. What about insurance?
Government provides insurance equivalent to PMJJBY and PMSBY; companies may
