1. Consider the analog signal 𝑥𝑎 (𝑡) = 8𝑠𝑖𝑛200𝜋𝑡 + 9 cos 400𝜋𝑡. Determine the
discrete-time signal after sampling if the sampling frequency 𝐹𝑠 = 500𝐻𝑧.
2. Determine the fundamental period of the signal 𝑥(𝑡) = 2 cos(10𝑡 + 1) − sin(4𝑡 − 1)
and 𝑥[𝑛] = 1 + 𝑒 𝑗4𝜋𝑛/7 − 𝑒 𝑗2𝜋𝑛/5 .
3. (a) Show that the fundamental period Nr of the signals
𝑗2𝜋𝑘𝑛
𝑠𝑘 (𝑛) = 𝑒 𝑁 , 𝐾 = 0,1 ,2 … … ..
is given by Np = N/GCD (k. N), where GCD is the greatest common divisor of k and
N.
(b) What is the fundamental period of this set for N =7?
(c) What is it for N = 16?
4. Determine the fundamental period (𝐹0 ) of the given signal as shown in Figure 1.
5. An analog signal contains frequencies up to 10 kHz.
(a) What range of sampling frequencies allows exact reconstruction of this signal
from its samples?
(b) Suppose that we sample this signal with a sampling frequency F = 8 kHz.
Examine what happens to the frequency F| = 5 kHz.
(c) Repeat part (b) for a frequency F> = 9 kHz.
6. A discrete-time signal is given below
𝜋𝑛 𝜋𝑛 𝜋𝑛 𝜋
𝑥[𝑛] = sin ( ) − sin ( ) + 3 sin( + )
8 4 8 3
The period of the signal 𝑥[𝑛] is?
7. The magnitude spectra of a signal is shown in figure 2 with the dashed line.
Determine the value of 𝐹1 if the sampling rate of the signal 8kHz meets
