Using a Keyboard
A Keyboard has small buttons on it called keys.
These keys are used to type letters, words, numbers, and symbols.
Types of keys:
There are many types of keys on a keyboard.
➢ Alphabet keys
➢ Number keys
➢ Special keys
Alphabet key:
➢ These keys are marked with the letters A-Z.
➢ These keys are used to type letters, words, and sentences.
➢ They are 26 in number.
Number keys:
➢ These keys are marked with the numbers 0-9.
➢ They are used to type numbers.
➢ They are 10 in number.
➢ Number keys are present above the alphabet keys and on the right
side of the keyboard.
Special keys:
The keys that are used to do specific task are called special keys.
Let us learn about some commonly used special keys.
Spacebar key:
Look at the longest key on the keyboard.
This is spacebar key.
It is used to add a blank space between two letters, words, or
numbers.
Enter key:
The enter key is used to move the cursor to the next line.
A keyboard has two enter keys.
Backspace key:
The backspace key works like an eraser. You can use it to erase the
letters. One-by-one, to the left of the cursor.
