Spider Script

The document discusses spiders and their creation of spider webs, which are made from silk produced by their bodies. Spider webs serve the dual purpose of catching prey and acting as a warning system for spiders. While building webs provides significant advantages for hunting, it also has drawbacks such as energy expenditure and vulnerability to environmental factors.

Opening

- Today, I would like to talk about spiders and one interesting thing they create,
which is spider webs.
- I guess some of you have wondered what spiders build, why they build it, and
how they do it, and today I will answer these questions.

1. What spiders build - Spider webs

- First of all, spiders build webs, which are made from spider silk.
- This silk comes from protein in their own bodies.
- Although they look simple, these webs are carefully designed and help
spiders survive.

2. Purpose - Catching prey and giving warnings

- In terms of purpose, spider webs are mainly used to catch prey, especially
insects such as flies and mosquitoes.
- When an insect flies into the web, it gets stuck and cannot escape easily.
- At the same time, the web also works as a warning system.
- When the insect moves, the web vibrates, and the spider knows there is prey.

3. How spiders build webs

- The next part is…
- First of all, they choose places with many insects, like near lights or near
trees.
- The spider makes a first thread and lets the wind carry it to another place. The
thread sticks to something like a wall or a tree.
- The spider walks on this thread many times to make it strong. This becomes
the main line of the web.
- Then the spider makes a frame and pulls lines from the center to the outside.
These lines are like the spokes of a wheel.
- Next, the spider makes circles around the web. The first circles are not sticky
and help the spider move.
- After that, it makes sticky circles to catch insects.

4. Advantages and disadvantages

- We can see that building webs brings spiders extremely great benefits. It
helps spiders catch prey effectively without chasing it.
- However, building webs has disadvantages because it costs energy and
spider silk, and webs are easily destroyed by rain, wind, or humans.

Conclusion
- In conclusion, spider webs are effective tools that help spiders survive and
hunt.
- That’s all for my part. Next is the presentation by…
