Topic 17: The Danger of Lying

Characters: Mugisha Elvis, Besa Mary, Tony Alliance, Chibayama Chrispine, Mwansa
Blessings Dorcas, Kamara Martha

(School classroom during morning lessons. The teacher has stepped out for a short time,
and students are talking quietly.)

Chibayama Chrispine: I am in trouble… I didn’t do my homework. If the teacher asks me, I


don’t know what I will say.

Tony Alliance: Just say you forgot it at home.

Besa Mary: That is lying. It is not right.

Mwansa Blessings Dorcas: But if he tells the truth, he might be punished.

Mugisha Elvis: Lying may help you for a moment, but it always brings bigger problems later.

Kamara Martha: Yes, honesty is always better, even when it is difficult.

(Teacher enters the classroom.)

Teacher: Good morning class. Please submit your homework.

(Students begin submitting their books. Chrispine looks very nervous.)

Teacher: Chrispine, where is your homework?

Chibayama Chrispine: (nervously) Teacher… I forgot it at home.

Tony Alliance: (whispering) He is lying…

Mugisha Elvis: (whispering) He didn’t even do it.

Teacher: Are you sure?

Chibayama Chrispine: Yes, teacher.

(Later, teacher gives a surprise check.)


Teacher: I want to see all homework again.

(Chrispine becomes more worried and silent.)

Teacher: Chrispine, you said you forgot it at home, but you never did it at all.

Chibayama Chrispine: (softly) I am sorry, teacher. I lied because I was afraid.

Teacher: Fear is not a reason to lie. Why didn’t you tell the truth?

Chibayama Chrispine: I was scared of punishment.

(Class discussion after correction.)

Besa Mary: Chrispine, lying only made your situation worse.

Mwansa Blessings Dorcas: Yes, now the punishment is bigger than before.

Kamara Martha: If you told the truth immediately, it would have been better.

Mugisha Elvis: Lies always grow into bigger problems.

Tony Alliance: We all learn from this mistake.

(Teacher speaks to the class.)

Teacher: Let this be a lesson. Lies destroy trust.

Chibayama Chrispine: I understand, teacher. I will never lie again.

Teacher: Good. Honesty builds strong character.

(After class, students walk together.)

Besa Mary: It is better to face small consequences than to tell big lies.

Tony Alliance: Yes, truth may be hard, but it is always right.

Mwansa Blessings Dorcas: Lies only make things worse.


Mugisha Elvis: Honesty brings peace of mind.

Kamara Martha: I will always choose truth, even when I am scared.

Moral Lesson:
Lying may seem like an easy escape, but it always leads to bigger problems. Always tell the
truth, even when it is hard.
