Q1.

Nutritional Foundation for Billions:

Rice serves as a primary dietary staple for over half the global population, particularly in Asia,
Africa, and Latin America. It is a rich source of carbohydrates, the body’s main energy source,
which fuels daily activities and metabolic functions. Beyond calories, rice (especially whole-grain
varieties like brown or red rice) provides essential nutrients such as B vitamins (thiamine,
niacin), iron, magnesium, and dietary fiber. These nutrients are critical for preventing
deficiencies, supporting immune function, and reducing risks of chronic diseases.

Stabilizing Food Security and Socioeconomic Health:

Rice’s adaptability to diverse climates—from flooded paddies to upland fields—makes it a
reliable crop in regions prone to environmental stress. High-yield varieties and efficient farming
practices ensure consistent production, safeguarding communities from food shortages.
Reliable rice supplies prevent starvation, stabilize food prices, and reduce poverty, all of which
are determinants of health. Chronic food insecurity leads to malnutrition, weakened immunity,
and developmental delays in children, perpetuating cycles of disease and poverty. Moreover,
rice farming supports livelihoods for over 1 billion people globally, fostering economic stability
that enables access to healthcare, education, and sanitation. In regions like South Asia, rice-
based economies underpin rural development, indirectly improving health infrastructure and
disease prevention. Climate-resilient rice varieties also mitigate risks from droughts or floods,
ensuring food systems remain intact despite environmental challenges.

[Link] big reasons why farmers can grow more rice today are better types of rice plants and
smarter farming methods**. These changes have helped farmers grow more rice in the same
amount of land, especially in places where rice is a main food.

Better Rice Plants:

In the 1960s, scientists created new types of rice that grow more rice on each plant. One
famous example is called IR8, made by a research group called IRRI. These new rice plants
grow faster, produce more grains compared to the rest of the plant (like leaves and stems), and
work better with fertilizers. This means farmers can grow more rice in less time. Over the years,
scientists kept improving these rice plants to survive pests, diseases, droughts, and floods. This
makes harvests more reliable and bigger.

Smarter Farming:
Farmers now use chemical fertilizers to give rice plants the right nutrients, and pesticides to stop
bugs and weeds from ruining the crops. They also use better ways to water the plants, like
controlling how much water is used (instead of flooding fields all the time). A method called SRI
(System of Rice Intensification) teaches farmers to plant fewer seedlings but space them out,
which helps the plants grow stronger and produce more rice. Machines like tractors and
harvesters also save time and labor, letting farmers work bigger fields more easily.
Together, these changes help farmers grow enough rice to feed more people, reduce hunger,
and support communities around the world.

[Link] natural disasters

All farm crops productivity are relied on environment conditions, natural resources and
ecosystems. The disasters can easily affect the economy of [Link] example, if today is
raining heavily and having a storm - on the next day. the crops dies and no harvest for
farmers .For the solution, we must find a place that have good weather, good [Link]
geology to make sure less chances Het losing the narvests outs nare to make it so tink burking
a aralicial barne. is a better way to avoi guting natural disaster. Aiso we can make température
regulator and other things to make the crops quality better
Secondly,the lost of farmers
Farmers are reducing not just because the income and the salary they can make and also they
need to work very hard on farming so that the can confirm the crops won't die. They also need
to prevent the locusts to eat the rice so it's difficult for farmers and make them suffers on
farming so there are less farmers in the world now I need to make some promotion to build a
impression for people so that they won't scared of being a farmer and I will make the salary
higher for them .

[Link],Use robots to farm

In the farm the most important part to work the farm and make more rice is manpower. To
increase the farm productivity I found that we need lots of workers to support the farm but if I
hired more farmer and workers, we will need a huge budget like about 10k per month to hire a
farmer and just to sustain a 463 acres
farm needs about 463 person and it costs 10k x 463 = 4630k per month to sustain
a farm so in this case using robots to farm will be a better way to farm and gets a higher output
because it can work longer than a human also it only needs to charge so this is the first way to
increase the yields of rice.

Secondly,Switch the planting mode

Nowadays, the planting mode we are using is Plant planting. Why don't we just build up? For
some people may say it can't get the solar energy for the photosynthesis but I found the
principle of light. It can make refraction to send the light to the plant through a special funnel ,so
we can make it upstairs and expand the agricultural outputs . I think for only one building have
above 20 floors . Each floors have about 1km2 place to plant .20floors is 20km2 . And we won't
build only one building, we will build more so it can also promote the rice yields.

[Link] primary problem in growing rice is the use and shortage of water resources. Rice
production requires a lot of water, usually 1,500 to 5,000 liters of water per kilogram of [Link]
high water requirements are largely due to traditional rice field irrigation practices, which help
control weeds and pests but are extremely [Link] could result in less water
available for other agricultural production, drinking water and ecosystem [Link]
problem of it is seasonal [Link] cultivation usually coincides with the monsoon season
and is therefore dependent on seasonal [Link] dry years,a lack of adequate water can lead
to reduced yields and food [Link],too much rainfall can lead to
flooding, damaging crops and further complicating water management.
The secondary problem in growing rice is the methane emissions, methane emissions from rice
cultivation pose a major environmental challenge, particularly in terms of global [Link]
anaerobic conditions created when rice fields are flooded promote the activity of
methanogens, thereby producing large amounts of methane. Given that methane is a potent
greenhouse gas, strategies to mitigate its emissions are critical.

The vocational problem in growing rice is soil degradation,it in rice cultivation is a pressing
challenge that threatens agricultural productivity and environmental health. Without proper
management practices, continued rice cultivation can lead to nutrient loss, soil
erosion, salinization and loss of soil [Link] problems not only reduce the fertility of the
soil, but also affect the overall sustainability of rice cultivation.

[Link]-fish integrated farming

Rice-fish integrated farming is an innovative approach that combines rice cultivation with fish
farming in the same field. This method can increase yields and enhance environmental
sustainability in several ways.
The benefits of it is Natural Pest [Link] presence of fish helps control pests and weeds in
the rice paddies. Fish feed on harmful insects and larvae, reducing the need for chemical
[Link],Nutrient [Link] excrement serves as a natural fertilizer for the rice
plants. This nutrient cycling improves soil fertility and reduces the need for synthetic
[Link],Increased [Link] fish into rice farming promotes biodiversity.
This healthy ecosystem can enhance resilience to pests and diseases, supporting both rice and
fish [Link] addition,Water [Link] water used for fish farming can be reused
for irrigation, conserving water resources. This efficient use of water is particularly important in
areas affected by drought. Finally,Higher Economic [Link] can diversify their income
by selling both rice and fish. This dual production system can improve overall farm profitability.

Rice-fish integrated farming presents a groundbreaking way to grow rice that increases
productivity while addressing environmental concerns. By combining rice cultivation with fish
farming, this method promotes natural pest control, nutrient recycling, and biodiversity, creating
a balanced ecosystem that benefits both crops and aquatic [Link] embracing such practices, we
can pave the way for a more resilient agricultural future, ensuring food security while preserving
vital natural resources. Ultimately, rice-fish integrated farming is a promising strategy that can
transform rice production into a more sustainable and profitable venture for farmers around the
world.
