II. Fill in the blanks:

1. A year having _366_ days is called a Leap year.

2. 910 days = _2_ years _6_ months.

3. April, June, September and _November_ have 30 days.

4. 5 hours after 9:30 am is 2:30 p.m.

5. 1 hour = _3600_ seconds.

III. Complete the table:

1|Page
a. Shashank does the following activities every day. write the duration of each activity in the unit
of time asked.

Activity Time Duration of activity in

spent
a. Goes for morning walk 45 min 2700 sec
b. Goes for swimming once a week 1 hr. 15 min 75min
c. Goes to school 6 hrs. 360min
d. Reads book 1800 sec 30 min
e. Does his home work 2 hrs. 7200 sec

LEVEL – 2

I. convert as per instructions:

1. 7 days into hours

1 day = 24 hours

7 days=7x24 = 168 hours

2. 3 hours into minutes

1 hour = 60 min

3 hours = 3x60=180 min

3. 3 hours 15 minutes into minutes

3 hours = 180 mins

3 hours 15 mins = 180+15 mins=195mins

4. 9 minutes 5 seconds to seconds

1 min = 60 sec

9 mins = 9x60 sec =540 sec

9 mins 5 sec = 540+5=545 sec

5. 80 seconds to minute
80
= 1 min 𝑎𝑛𝑑 20 𝑠𝑒𝑐
60

6. 270 minutes to hours

270
= 4 ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠 30 𝑚𝑖𝑛
60

7. 20 days into weeks and days

1 week = 7 days
20
= 2 𝑤𝑒𝑒𝑘𝑠 6 𝑑𝑎𝑦𝑠
7

8. 25 months into years and months

2|Page
1 year = 12 months
25
25 Months = = 2 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑠 1 𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑡ℎ
12

9. 5 weeks 5 days into days

5 weeks = 5x7 days=35 days

5 weeks 5 days= 35+5 days= 40 days

10. 4 years into month

1 year= 12 months

4 years= 4x12 = 48 months

II. Solve the following

1. Rajani starts her workout at gym at 6:10 a.m. and finishes at 8:05 a.m. How long is her workout?

Rajani starts workout = 6:10 a.m.

Finished the workout = 8:05 a.m.

From 6:10 a.m. to 7:10 a.m. = 1 hour

From 7:10 a.m. to 8:05 a.m. = 55 minutes

Total time taken= 1 hr 55 mins

2. Gautam leaves his house for school at 7:30 a.m. and comes back home at 3.15 p.m. how
much time does he spend outside his home?

Gautam leave the house for school = 7:30 a.m. (0730 hours)

He come back to home = 3:15 p.m. (1515 hours)

Total time spent in school = 1515 hours – 0730 hours

= 15-7 = 8 hours

And 15 – 30 not possible, So we borrow 1 hour from the 8 hours: 8 hours − 1 hour = 7 hours

1 hour = 60 minutes, add it to 15 minutes → 60 + 15 = 75 minutes

Now subtract the minutes: 75 − 30 = 45 minutes

Then total hours spent in school = 7 hours 45 minutes.

3. Mehak went shopping with her parents at 2:30 p.m., they spent one hour in purchasing clothes,
30 minutes in food court and they came back at 4:15 p.m. How much hours did they spend?
convert the hours into minutes.

Time spent for purchasing = 1 hour

Time spent in food court = 30 min

Total time spent = 1 hour 30 mins

3|Page
Mekah went shopping with the parents= 2:30 p.m. (1430 hours)

Return back to home = 4:15 p.m. (1615 hours)

Total time spent out side =16-14=2 hrs

15- 30 not possible

Borrow 1 hour form hours side the 75-30 = 45 minutes

Total time spent = 1 hour 45 mins

1 hour = 60 min

Total minute spent outside = 60+45 =105 minutes.

III. Fill up the boxes:

Activity started at Duration of activity Activity finished at

a. 7:30 a.m. 2 hrs. 15 min 9:45 a.m.
b. 2: 15 p. m. 1 hr. 20 min 3:35 p.m.
c. 2:30 p.m. 50 min 3: 20 p.m.
d. 3:20 a.m. 1 hr. 15 min 4: 35 a.m.
e 6: 40 a. m. 5 hr. 35 min 12: 15 p.m.

IV. Check whether the given year is leap year or not?

1. 1962 – not divisible by 4- not a leap year

2. 1994 – not divisible by 4- not a leap year

3. 2024 – divisible by 4 – so it’s a leap year

4. 1989. - not divisible by 4- not a leap year

5. 1992 - divisible by 4 – so it’s a leap year

6. 1976 - divisible by 4 – so it’s a leap year

LEVEL-3

I. Convert the following into 24-hour clock time:

1. 2:50 a. m.=02:50 hours

2. 6:15 a.m., = 06:15 hours

3. 11.30 p. m. = 23:30 hours

4. 1:30 p.m. = 13:30 hours

5. 12:15 p.m. = 12:15 hours

II. Convert accordingly:

a. Convert 46 months into years months and days

1 year = 12 months

4|Page
46
= 3 years 10 months
12

1 month = 30 days

10 months = 30 x10=300 days

46 months= 3 years 10 months

b. Convert 150 months into years and months

1 year = 12 months
150
= 12 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 6 𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑡ℎ𝑠
12

c. Convert 1 leap year and 65 days into days

1 leap year = 366 days

1 leap year 65 days = 366+65 = 431 days.

III. HOTS:

1. Sound travels at the rate 340 meters per second. How many meters will it travel in 2 minutes 50
seconds? (Distance = speed x time)

Speed of sound = 340m/s

Total time = 2 min 50 sec

1 min=60 sec, 2 min= 120 sec

Total time in sec = 120 +50 = 170 sec

Total distance the sound travel (distance = speed x time) = 340 x 170= 57800 meters.

2. If you walk one meter in one second how much distance will you cover in 1 hour 4 minutes?

Walking speed = 1 m/s

Total time = 1-hour 4min

1 hour = 3600 sec

4 min = 4x 60 sec = 240 sec

Total time in sec = 3600+ 240 = 3840 sec.

Distance = speed x time = 1x 3840 = 3840 m/s.

3. Express 18 hrs. of a day in fractional form?

Total hours of a day = 24

18÷6 3
18 hours of day in fraction form = =
24÷6 4
3
18 hours = of a day.
