Self-management skills empower individuals to regulate their actions,


emotions and thoughts effectively fostering productivity and goal
attainment.

Self-management skills epitomise reliability in the workplace. They


mitigate unreliability, ensuring controlled responses.

Examples: Reliability, stress management, time management,


trustworthiness, adaptability, respect and conscientiousness.

Teamwork – promotes an atmosphere that fosters friendship and loyalty.


Motivates employees to work harder, cooperate and support one another.
Teamwork is vital as it accelerates progress, makes employees more
efficient, and help develop better working relationships.

Positive attitude – improve way people view you as a person and


encourage people to trust and respect you.
Communication skills – convey and receive various forms of info.

Willingness to learn – reduces the need for extensive supervision and


enhances support for colleagues. Also, maximises collaboration with
experienced peers, demonstrating dedication to business developments.

Resilience – ability to effectively navigate challenges and bouncing back


from adversity, regulating emotions and perceiving challenges as
opportunities rather than threats. In the workplace it boosts motivation,
adaptability to change and reduces burnout among employees.
Teamwork:

The key to a successful team lies in a clear and motivating direction with
clear and laid out goals.

Taking responsibility by pushing yourself out the comfort zone to take on


more responsibility is a great way to grow personally and professionally.
In many businesses a consensus is used where a general agreement is
made by the team. This means the most favourable ideas are expressed.
This helps with equality and inclusion in the workplace.

Communication:
vital for conveying and understanding various information types. Effective
communication is essential for success. It enhances understanding,
fosters trust and respect, encourages diversity recognition, and facilitates

problem-solving.

Virtual communication is important in this day and age due to the


presence of working from home. Consistent communication increases
employee efficiently and productivity.

Types of communication: Non-verbal – body language. Verbal – speaking.


Written – writing to convey info. Visual communication – using photos, art,
drawing, charts and graph to convey info.

Problem solving:
Finding effective solutions to challenging issues. This skill enhances
independence, confidence and productivity.

Types of problems: Simple problems – solutions well established with clear


cause and effect. Complicated problems - some factors are unknown.
Complex problems – outcomes are understood only through action and
observation, with multiple unknown factors. Chaotic problems – crisis
moments requiring swift action to prevent worsening events.

Some examples in workplace: meeting deadlines, work overload,


personality clashes.
