= Creativity can be defined as the production of new and useful ideas as well as the
ability to discover new ways of looking at problems and opportunities.

2.​ Explain the difference between creativity and innovation.


= Creativity is thinking new things while innovation is doing new things

3.​ What are the three phases of the creative process?


Phase 1: Background or Knowledge Accumulation
Phase 2: The Mind Incubation Process
Phase 3: The Idea Experience
Phase 4: Evaluation and Implementation

4.​ What are the components of creativity?


= Knowledge, motivation and creative thinking skills

5.​ Describe our (4) types of innovation and give an example for each type of innovation.
●​ INVENTION is creating a totally new product, service or process.
Example: aeroplanes (Wright brothers).

●​ EXTENSION is introducing different application or new use of existing product,


service or process.
Example: laptop

●​ DUPLICATION is creative replication of an existing concept.


Example: Franchise businesses such as Chicken Rice Shop

●​ SYNTHESIS is combining existing concepts or factors into a new formulation or


use.
Example: combining functions of a telephone, video and camera

7.​ Explain two (2) categories of innovation intensity. Give examples of each category.
●​ Incremental Innovation: Steady improvements based on sustaining
technologies that can be rapidly implemented to develop customer loyalty.
Example: Progressively adding new features to a mobile phone over time
●​ Radical Innovation: A fundamental rethink based on disruptive
technologies that requires long periods of nurturing. Example: The initial
introduction of the mobile phone itself or oxygen separation technology.

8.​ Explain the link between creativity, innovation, and technology entrepreneurship.
= Creative idea flows to invention, which then flows to innovation. Creativity can also
directly lead to innovation. Creativity is turned into a practical reality such as a product
through innovation. The entrepreneurial context as well as perception of opportunity are
necessary to turn it into a business reality. Hence, creativity must be linked to
entrepreneurship in order to turn it into commercial opportunity to be exploited
