etc.
- Importance: Technology careers contribute to national development and personal growth.
2. Processing of Materials - Wood
a) Concept of Wood Processing
- Involves converting raw timber into usable products.
- Stages: Felling, conversion (sawing into planks), seasoning (drying to reduce moisture), and
finishing.
b) Conversion of Timber
- Methods: Conversion into planks, boards, and beams.
- Tools: Axes, saws, planes.
c) Seasoning of Timber
- Purpose: Reduce moisture to prevent decay and warping.
- Methods: Air drying and kiln drying.
3. Wood Defects & Preservation
- Defects: Knots, cracks, warping, decay.
- Preservation: Chemical treatment (borax, creosote), painting, varnishing, use of durable timber
species.
4. Processing of Other Materials
- Metals: Ferrous (iron, steel) and non-ferrous (aluminum, copper); methods include casting, forging,
welding.
- Clay, Ceramics, Glass: Molding, firing, shaping.
- Plastics & Rubber: Molding, extrusion, injection molding.
5. Drawing Practices
a) Isometric Drawing: Represents 3D objects in 2D using 30-degree angles.
b) Oblique Drawing: Simple method to draw 3D objects showing depth.
c) Perspective Drawing: One-point perspective shows depth converging at one vanishing point.
d) Orthographic Projection: 2D representation of 3D objects showing front, top, and side views.
e) Scales & Scale Drawing: Enlargement and reduction of objects using scale ratios.
6. Simple Blueprint Reading
- Recognize common symbols in building plans.
- Understand layout, dimensions, and labeling.
SECOND TERM LESSON NOTES
