The chart compares the numbers of international and home students studying in higher

education in the UK between 2010 and 2012. Overall, British home students were consistently
higher in numbers than international students for both men and women. In addition, were we to
examine the chart it would be obvious that male student numbers were less consistent than female
student numbers.
In 2010, male British home student numbers were significantly higher than the international
student numbers. However, in the following years the two figures were relatively close to each
other. In all three years female British home student numbers exceeded the international student
numbers.
During all three years, the numbers of male international students were markedly more than
female figures. However, the male British home student numbers were higher than the female home
students only during 2010. In 2011 the male home student numbers were significantly lower than
the female student numbers. Lastly in 2012 the those of female home student numbers were slightly
higher than the male home student numbers.
