Triangles: Properties, Areas, and Angles

Key Concepts for Triangles

Triangle Area Formula: A = (1/2) × base × height
For a triangle with vertices, you can use: A = (1/2)|x₁(y₂ - y₃) + x₂(y₃ - y₁) + x₃(y₁ - y₂)|
Sum of interior angles: The angles in any triangle sum to 180°.
Isosceles Triangle: Two equal sides means two equal angles opposite those sides.
Triangle Inequality: The sum of any two sides must be greater than the third side.
Centroid: The intersection of medians, located at (1/3) distance from each side.
The centroid divides each median in ratio 2:1 from vertex to midpoint.
Similar Triangles: Corresponding sides are proportional; corresponding angles are equal.
