SCIENCE NOTES (EXTENDED)
Introduction:
Science is the systematic study of the natural world through observation and
experimentation. It helps explain natural phenomena and improves human life through
technology.
Branches of Science:
Physics studies matter, force, and energy. Chemistry studies substances and reactions.
Biology studies living organisms and life processes.
States of Matter:
Matter exists in solid, liquid, and gas states. Solids have fixed shape, liquids take shape of
container, and gases spread freely. Changes include melting, freezing, evaporation, and
condensation.
Force and Motion:
Force is a push or pull that changes motion. Newton’s laws explain motion: objects remain
at rest unless acted upon; force equals mass times acceleration; every action has equal and
opposite reaction.
Energy:
Energy is the ability to do work. It exists as kinetic, potential, heat, chemical, and electrical
energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed.
Human Body Systems:
The digestive system breaks food into nutrients. The respiratory system allows breathing
and oxygen intake. The circulatory system transports blood and nutrients. The nervous
system controls body functions.
Ecosystem:
An ecosystem consists of living organisms and their environment. Producers (plants),
consumers (animals), and decomposers (bacteria) maintain balance.
Electricity:
Electricity is the flow of charge. It is measured in volts, current, and resistance. It powers
homes, industries, and devices.
Light and Sound:
Light travels in straight lines and reflects from surfaces. Sound is produced by vibrations
and travels through air or other mediums.
Conclusion:
Science is essential for development, innovation, and understanding the universe.
