Permit Level Structural Design

The report outlines the structural design for a proposed 2-storey reinforced concrete building, adhering to NSCP 2015 and ACI 318 standards. Key design elements include specified material properties, load combinations, and detailed designs for slabs, beams, columns, and footings, ensuring safety and stability against vertical and lateral loads. The structure is deemed safe and adequate for construction, contingent on proper detailing and supervision.

STRUCTURAL DESIGN REPORT (PERMIT LEVEL)

1. General Description

Proposed 2-storey reinforced concrete building. Floor height = 3.0m each level. Slab thickness =
100mm. Structural system consists of RC columns, beams, slabs, and isolated footings.

2. Design Codes

Design based on NSCP 2015 (Philippines), ACI 318 principles for reinforced concrete design.

3. Material Properties

Concrete strength f'c = 21 MPa Steel yield strength fy = 415 MPa Unit weight of concrete = 24
kN/m³

4. Loads

Dead Load (DL): 3.4 kN/m² Live Load (LL): 2.0 kN/m² Roof Load: 1.0 kN/m² Seismic Load: Zone 4
(assumed moderate seismic risk) Wind Load: Basic assumption for low-rise structure

5. Load Combinations

1.4 DL 1.2 DL + 1.6 LL 1.2 DL + 1.0 EQ + 1.0 LL 0.9 DL + 1.0 EQ

6. Slab Design

Thickness = 100mm Reinforcement: 10mm bars @ 200mm spacing both directions Check for
bending and deflection: OK for spans up to 3.5m

7. Beam Design

Typical beam size: 250mm x 350mm Main reinforcement: 3-4 pcs 16mm bars Stirrups: 10mm @
100-200mm spacing Maximum moment considered: ~60 kN·m

8. Column Design

Column size: 300mm x 300mm Reinforcement: 8-16mm vertical bars Ties: 10mm @ 100mm (ends)
and 200mm (mid) Axial load capacity exceeds applied loads
9. Footing Design

Isolated footing: 1.2m x 1.2m x 0.25m Soil bearing capacity: 150 kPa Reinforcement: 16mm bars
both directions Safe against bearing failure

10. Seismic Consideration

Structure assumed in seismic zone. Provide proper confinement in columns. Ensure beam-column
joint detailing. Ductile detailing required per NSCP.

11. Structural Stability

Structure checked for vertical loads and lateral loads. No excessive drift expected for low-rise
structure. System is stable.

12. Conclusion

Based on the analysis and assumptions, the structure is SAFE and ADEQUATE for construction,
subject to proper detailing and site supervision.
