Ans: Administration run by representative elected by the people at the local level
are called local self-Government. These institutions are called local self-
government organization. Gram Panchayat, Taluka Panchayat and District
Panchayat belong to village local self-government.

Ans: Talati cum minister handles administrative work, collect taxes, make reports
of gram panchayat and prepares forms and keep records of account.

Ans: District panchayat controls the activities of gram panchayat and taluka
panchayat and help them manages and control revenue, education, co-
operation, irrigation, animal husbandry, agriculture etc. at district level.

Ans: ✓ The number of seats of Taluka Panchayat are decided according to the
ratio of population. There are minimum 16 and maximum 32 elected
members in Taluka panchayat.

2. Social justice committee:
✓ The social justice committee is responsible for creating and
implementing the schemes. So that weaker sections of society can
get education, health, social and economic facilities.
✓ This committee is made of five members at the level of Taluka
Panchayat and district panchayat.
✓ The formation of social justice is compulsory at all three levels of
Panchayati Raj.
✓ Functions of this committee is to impart justice to the weaker
section.
3. Role of district collector at Panchayati Raj:
✓ Role of district collector is very important in Panchayati Raj.
1. Co-ordinates and manages the works of all departments at the
district level.
2. Collector is secretory of District planning committee, which is
responsible for the development of entire district.
3. It determines the number of the gram panchayat. Allot
reserved seats in the gram panchayat.
4. He determines to reserve the position of Sarpanch for the
schedule caste, scheduled tribe, sociality and educationally
backward class and women.
