In todays world it's common to see kids glued to their smartphones.
This trend is mainly
driven by how useful these devicesre how parents raise their kids nowadays. While
smartphones can be good for learning I think much screen time is bad because it affects
kids health and social skills.
The main reason kids use smartphones much is that they're really versatile. Unlike
before when kids used devices for playing games talking to friends and learning now
they can do all that on one small device. Also many parents work hours so they use
smartphones as a way to keep their kids busy and safe indoors. The way social media
and games are designed to keep kids engaged makes it hard for them to stop.
Despite the convenience,I think this trend is mostly bad. One big worry is that it makes
kids sit around much. When kids spend hours on their phones they don't play outside
which is important for developing their motor skills and staying healthy. For example not
playing outside has been linked to health problems in kids in many countries.
Moreover, another issue is how it affects kids social and emotional development. Talking
to people in person requires understanding body language and emotions which can't be
fully learned through a screen. Relying much on digital communication can make kids
anxious and distracted in school. Some people say the internet is a resource but the
truth is that without close supervision most kids will choose entertainment, over
learning, which can make it hard for them to focus.
In conclusion kids using smartphones more and more is a result of technology and
changing family life. However because it often affects their health and social
connections it should be seen as a trend that parents and educators need to manage
carefully
