How about firing your boss?

I have got to tell you something: your boss is the only thing that really matters. You never work for a
company, you always work for someone. Your boss has the power to make you the happiest – or
the most miserable – creature. The company is an abstraction. Your boss is a concrete reality. A good
boss offers you the best conditions at work, even in an atrocious company. A bad boss makes your
daily life a trip to purgatory, even in a sensational company.

So, choose your boss very wisely. That’s the biggest decision to be made. He or she is going to be
your best friend or your worst enemy. With him on your side, you will enjoy all the benefits from a
good working environment. With him against, you can feel isolated, useless, and will gradually
become invisible, until you are dismissed.

Here’s what I mean: don’t waste a month of your career with a bad boss. No one is free from
running into one along their career path – mainly because there are plenty of them. At the first
glimpse of a bad boss, get out. There are many definitions of what a good boss is. Everyone knows
instantly what a bad boss is like.

Be sure of this: life is too short – and your career is even shorter – to waste time and energy with a
superior of inferior quality.

When it comes to bad bosses: don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
