Introduction
01
A hydraulic lift is used to lift
heavy objects using liquid
pressure
Used in garages and industries
Our model shows real-life
working in a simple way
HYDRAULIC LIFT
Pascal’s Law
02
Pascal’s Law means that
pressure applied to a
liquid spreads equally in P=F/A
all directions. So, when P = PRESSURE
we press a small syringe, A= AREA
F= FORCE
the pressure is
transmitted through the
liquid and creates a larger
force at the output. This
is why hydraulic systems
can lift heavy objects with
less effort.
Components used
03
SYRINGE PINS
STICKS
Description
04
SYRINGE:
THE SYRINGE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. WHEN WE PRESS IT, IT CREATES PRESSURE IN
THE WATER. THIS PRESSURE HELPS IN LIFTING THE PLATFORM.
POPSICLE STICKS:
THESE ARE USED TO MAKE THE STRUCTURE OF THE LIFT. THEY ARE ARRANGED IN A SCISSOR
SHAPE SO THAT THEY CAN EXPAND AND CONTRACT.
SCREWS/PINS:
THESE ACT AS JOINTS. THEY ALLOW THE STICKS TO MOVE FREELY WHEN PRESSURE IS
APPLIED.
HOT GLUE:
IT IS USED TO FIX ALL THE PARTS TOGETHER AND MAKE THE STRUCTURE STRONG.
PLATFORM:
THIS IS THE TOP PART WHERE THE OBJECT IS PLACED TO BE LIFTED.
WATER:
WATER ACTS AS THE FLUID THAT TRANSFERS PRESSURE FROM THE SYRINGE TO THE LIFT.
Working
The working of our hydraulic lift
05
is simple and easy to
understand:
[Link], the syringe is filled with
water.
[Link] syringe is then connected
to the lift structure.
[Link] the syringe is pressed,
pressure is created in the
water.
[Link] pressure travels through
the liquid to the lift
mechanism.
5. AS A RESULT, THE SCISSOR STRUCTURE BEGINS
TO OPEN.
6. WHEN IT OPENS, THE PLATFORM MOVES
UPWARD AND LIFTS THE OBJECT PLACED ON IT.
7. WHEN THE PRESSURE IS RELEASED, THE LIFT
SLOWLY COMES BACK DOWN.
THIS DEMONSTRATES THAT A SMALL FORCE CAN
BE USED TO LIFT HEAVY OBJECTS WITH THE HELP
OF LIQUID PRESSURE.
