(INTRODUCTION)
What is fire?
Fire is a chemical reaction that
produces heat and light when a
combustible material rapidly
oxidizes in the presence of oxygen.
Further fire produces byproducts of
Heat, smoke, flame, Toxic Gas,
Inert Gas, UV Rays, IR Rays,
Pressure etc.

3.2 SCBA COMPRESSOR

3.2 Learn to operate the SCBA

Compressor and Refill the Air Bottles
which were used up when SCBA was
being used during a Drill
(3.2)Following are the Main Components of SCBA Compressor

1. Electrical Motor
2. An Air Intake unit
3. An air filtering unit
4. A Compression Chamber
5. Cooling unit
6. A Storage and Delivery unit

Function of SCBA Compressor: All above components work

together to draw air with support of Electrical Pump from
atmosphere, filter and transfer to compression chamber to
compress at a high pressure, remove impurities, cool the air and
store it for use in the SCBA.
(3.2)Following are the Main Components of SCBA Compressor

Following are the Operating Procedure of SCBA

Compressor :-

1. Inspect Compressor before operating to ensure

that all the components of SCBA Compressor is
damage free

2. Filter Condition to be checked whether it is

cleaned or not, if necessary, replace it .

3. Ensure Compressor Oil Level is within the

recommended Range

4. Ensure the Air Intake clear of contaminant

(3.2)OPERATION OF SCBA Compressor

1. On completion of Inspection, follow the

manufactures start up procedure to start the
compressor

2. Check the pressure gauge to ensure proper

operation

3. Ensure compressor is delivering the air with

breathable quality

POST OPERATION ACTION

1. Shut down the SCBA Compressor by following the
Manufactures Instruction.

2. Perform the routine maintenance.

3. Ensure the record is maintained regarding the operation, shut

down and Maintenance
