My group decided to do the topic “how crime and violence affect community development”.

This is a topic that each group member feels a personal connection to, given their similar
experiences living in communities riddled with violent crimes.

In this portfolio, I will be assessing the influence of criminal role models on youth behaviour.
Seeing my neighbours follow the other negative personalities in the area, I have a deep
appreciation for my familial guidance. This has motivated me to assess its importance in my
life. It has also been a long-standing issue in society and is a prevalent theme heard in
currently popular music amongst teenagers.

To conduct my research, I aim to use a variety of media. These will take the form of a video,
song and an online blog. These will develop my experience as an English student by helping
to improve my listening and comprehension skills, along with my expository writing abilities.
