LET’S STUDY — What is the Past Unreal Conditional?
The past unreal conditional (third conditional) describes imaginary situations in the
past—things that did not [Link] conditional is used because the time for the condition
has passed, making the outcome impossible to realize. It expresses what could have
happened if the past circumstances had been [Link] is typically used to express regrets,
criticisms, or alternate past outcomes.
Structure:
If + past perfect, would have + past participle
Examples:
- If I had studied, I would have passed.
- If they had left earlier, they wouldn’t have missed the bus.
