Describe a place as you explore it for the first time.
The large old oak door slowly crept open with an irritating creaking sound. I slowly
stepped in. The massive mansion was empty with no sign of life or light. The only
noise I hear is my subtle silent and still footsteps. As I looked around, I saw that the
mansion had shiny white marble floors and two spiral staircases. My instant thought
was someone rich must have lived here.
I decided to move onto every room step by step trying to find out why this place was
uninhabited. I entered the kitchen which was extremely dark with the only light
coming from my phone’s flashlight. The kitchen was in a pristine condition with the
countertop giving off a bright reflection from my flashlight. Then I decided to go up
the spiral stairs into the upstairs.
The air in the hallway upstairs felt heavy, and thick and had a bad scent of dust and
decay. I moved forward with each footstep making a loud thumping noise as if it was
matching my heartbeat. There were paintings on the walls which were ancient as the
colours were faded and the frames were chipped and damaged.
One painting that drew my attention was a huge portrait of an elderly man with angry
facial expressions and bold red eyes. It seemed as though he was looking through
my eyes straight into my soul. As I got closer to the end of the long hallway, I saw a
small dim light coming from a room at the end.
Slowly step by step the light grew brighter and brighter and eventually revealed a
little library. Towering bookshelves covered the walls, and they were filled with many
books that were covered in dust waiting to be read. In the corner of the library there
was a large window which looked out onto a garden that had overgrown plants that
were clearly not took care of. The library had a unique and strange atmosphere to it
which was both eerie and scary as well as inviting and friendly.
