The Story of Daw Aye Min
Daw Aye Min is a well-known teacher from Mandalay. She was born in 1975 in a small village near Pyin Oo
Lwin. When she was a child, she enjoyed reading storybooks and helping her mother in the kitchen. She always
says that her childhood was simple, but very happy.
When she was eighteen, she moved to Mandalay to study at the university. She chose to study English because
she loved languages. At university, she worked very hard. She also met many friends who supported her
dreams. After she finished her degree, she became a primary school teacher. Her first job was at a small school,
and her salary was low, but she never complained. She believed teaching was a meaningful job.
Every morning, Daw Aye Min wakes up early. She prepares her lessons and checks her students’ homework.
She always tries to make her classes fun and interesting. Her students say she is kind, patient, and helpful. She
uses stories, pictures, and games so that her students can learn more easily.
Now, she has been teaching for more than twenty years. She has trained many young teachers and encouraged
them to love their work. Although teaching is sometimes difficult, she continues because she wants to help
children have a better future.
In her free time, Daw Aye Min likes gardening and cooking. She often shares vegetables from her garden with
her neighbours. People in her community respect her because she works hard and cares for others. For many
students, she is not only a teacher but also a role model.
