Functional Requ

The document outlines functional requirements for an animal management app, including features for animal profile creation, health tracking, feed management, and reporting. It also specifies non-functional requirements such as usability, reliability, and security measures to ensure data integrity and privacy. Key functionalities include health record logging, inventory tracking, and an alert system for vaccinations.

Functional Requirements (What the app does)

These represent the specific features and workflows the system must support.

Animal Profile & Health Tracking

Individual Identification: Users must be able to create profiles for each animal using unique IDs (e.g.,
RFID tags, ear tags, or QR codes).

Health Record Logging: The app must allow logging of vaccinations, illnesses, veterinary visits, and
medications administered.

Alert System: The system should automatically generate alerts for upcoming vaccinations or follow-up
treatments.

Vital Sign Monitoring: If integrated with IoT wearables, the app must display real-time data like body
temperature, heart rate, and activity levels.

Feed & Nutrition Management

Inventory Tracking: The app must track current feed stock levels and notify the user when supplies are
low.

Ration Planning: Users should be able to create and assign specific "feed recipes" or rations based on the
animal's age, weight, and production stage (e.g., lactating vs. dry).

Consumption Logs: The system must record daily feed intake per group or individual to monitor growth
efficiency.

Reporting & Analytics

Growth Curves: Generate visual charts showing weight gain over time compared to breed standards.

Health Trends: Provide reports on disease outbreaks or recurring health issues within the herd.

2. Non-Functional Requirements (How the app performs)

These define the quality attributes and constraints of the system.

Usability & Accessibility

Offline Mode: Since farms often have poor cellular coverage, the app must allow data entry offline and
sync once a connection is restored.

High-Contrast UI: The interface should be easily readable in direct sunlight (outdoor use).

One-Handed Operation: Design for "fat-finger" touch targets so a farmer can log data while holding a
tool or animal.
Reliability & Performance

Data Integrity: The app must ensure that no data is lost during sync conflicts between multiple users
(e.g., a farmhand and an owner).

Response Time: Synchronized IoT data should update on the dashboard within 5 seconds of being
received by the gateway.

Security & Privacy

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC): Different permission levels for owners (full access), vets (health
records only), and laborers (logging only).

Data Encryption: All animal and financial data must be encrypted both at rest and in transit.
