1. Brainstorm
Work with a partner and discuss which research designs you would choose in relation to the
following research questions:

 What is the effect of corrective feedback on the acquisition of possessive pronouns by EFL students at the
novice-high proficiency level?

 How do immigrant EAL/D adults perceive their language practices in the real-life job settings?

 Is there a relationship between the use of Kidspiration software and the 3 rd grade ESL students’ organization
in writing?

 Does the current curriculum adopted in an English immersion program take into account EAL/D children’s L1
and cultural knowledge?

 Do L2 leaners in an online chatroom produce more negotiation of meaning than their counterparts in a
traditional classroom setting?

 To what extent does task-based language teaching make a difference in Japanese college students’
language gains in productive skills and their attitudes toward this approach?

2. Concept Map
 Reflect on your worldview and a real-world problem in language teaching/learning that shape
your decision of choosing an appropriate research design
 Construct a concept map by placing your research topic that you’d like to investigate and
identify the related worldview, research design and methods (see Creswell, 2014, p. 5).
