Refraction Guide for Clinic
1. Patient History
• Blurred vision, headache, distance/near problem • Previous glasses or not
2. Visual Acuity Check
• Use Snellen Chart (6/6, 6/9, 6/18) • Check without and with glasses
3. Objective Refraction
• Use Auto Refractometer • Or Retinoscopy in dark room
4. Subjective Refraction
• Use Trial Frame or Phoropter • Ask patient which is clearer • Adjust SPH, CYL, Axis
5. Final Prescription
Example: RE: -1.00 SPH / -0.50 CYL × 180 LE: -0.75 SPH
6. Near Vision
• Check at 40 cm • Add power if needed (40+ age)
