Today, I’m going to talk about first impressions.

When you meet someone for the first time and you
instantly think something about them? Yeah, that’s first impresion. First impressions can be right or
wrong, depending on many factors that affect the situation in which we meet them. I will tell you a story
about my first impression of a colleague.

About a year ago, it was my first day at work. The first person I met was a colleague who was a few years
older than me. My supervisor had a meeting so this colleague kindly showed me the ropes and helped
me settle into my new job. He even took me for a cup of coffee and explained some of the company's
rules and what a typical workday looked like. At first, I thought he was very serious, without much of a
sense of humor. He was dressed in a suit and had neatly groomed hair. Sometimes, he reminded me
about company policies and the challenges I might face at work.

During our conversation, he got a phone call and stepped out to answer it. I overheard him arguing
loudly on the phone, which only reinforced my initial impression that he was difficult to get along with.
When he came back, he quickly finished our chat and returned to his desk.

But, after about a month of working together, I realized that my first impressions of him were
completely wrong. He's actually a very happy and sociable person. He has a lot of experience in his field
and has been incredibly helpful to me. Looking back, I think my first-day impressions of him were
probably influenced by the stress of a project deadline, which had made everyone a bit tense."
