Good day everyone!
Today, I'll be discussing a topic na sobrang relatable sa ating lahat — Social Media
Etiquette, or simply, kung ano ang safe i-share online.
Sa panahon ngayon, parang may dalawang mundo na tayo:
yung totoong buhay, at yung online life natin.
At dahil halos lahat tayo ay active sa social media, mahalagang malaman kung paano maging responsable
at safe habang nagpo-post, nagshi-share, at nakikipag-engage online.
1. Avoid posting extremely opinionated views
Una, sabi ni Scott Steinberg, "Think before you post."
Yes, may freedom tayo to express ourselves, pero kapag sobrang strong or controversial ng opinions (like
politics or sensitive issues), pwede itong mag-cause ng away, tension, or misunderstanding online.
Tips:
● Kung gusto mo talagang i-share, send it privately sa close friends.
● Or use closed groups.
● And remember: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it.”
2. Don’t post embarrassing or revealing photos
Ang pictures na ina-upload natin—yan ang unang nakikita ng tao.
Minsan yung “funny” o “wild” pics ngayon…
pwedeng maging regret tomorrow.
Especially for future employers — they judge based on what they see online.
Also: Huwag basta-basta mag-post ng pics ng ibang tao without permission.
Respect privacy.
3. Keep relationships & personal drama private
Hindi lahat dapat i-post. Hindi lahat ng problema kailangan ng audience.
Kapag may away, tampuhan, heartbreak… social media is not the best place para i-broadcast 'yan.
Kung hindi talaga mapigilan, make it vague, be respectful, at humingi ng consent sa mga taong involved.
4. Be careful with personal or sensitive information
Ito yung mga posts about:
● health issues
● emotional struggles
● family problems
● private details
Hindi lahat ng tao comfortable sa ganitong content, at minsan, nagiging pangit tingnan, or risky para sa’yo at
sa family mo.
5. Protect your personal safety
Ito super important:
NEVER POST highly personal info like:
● birthday
● phone number
● address
● school
● current location
● or vacations (“Out of town for 1 week!”)
Pwede itong maging opportunity for theft, stalking, or identity theft.
6. Check your privacy settings
Before mag-post, tanungin ang sarili:
“Sino ang makakakita nito?”
Make sure your audience is controlled.
I-set sa “Friends” or custom audience if needed.
Having proper privacy settings keeps you safe and in control of your digital space.
SUMMARY
So, in summary: Being responsible on social media means:
● Think before you post
● Protect your privacy
● Respect other people's boundaries
● Avoid oversharing
● Stay safe online
Sabi nga ni Scott Steinberg, lahat ng pinopost natin may tendency to stay online forever.
Kaya bago mag-click ng “post,” isip-isip muna:
“Safe ba ito? Respectful ba ito? Kailangan ko ba talagang i-share ito?”
