FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURAL TEXT:
PROV 23:7; PRO 4:23; MATT 12:34-35.
INTRODUCTION:
Success simply defined is the achievement of your goals, but the discovery in Luke 12:15 faulted
this notion so Success can be adequately defined as the achievement of God’s goals for your life.
Success is not what you do or what you have but who you are. God's measurement of success for
any man is not in the achievement of their personal agendas or goals. It is the achievement of the
goals He has set for your life, which is progressive and not instantaneous in nature or like a flash
in the pan. Being born was a goal that was set for a particular person by God that was not known
to the person being born (Jer 1:5, Jer 10:23; Jer 29:11). Success is not trying to control the
things that God has not given us the power to control; this will eventually end up in frustration i.e
the weather elements but we can control our attitudes, emotions, actions and mindsets in this life.
It is in controlling the things that lies within our power of control that we achieve success. To
GROW OUT in life, i.e BUSINESS, MINISTRY, you must first GROW IN. This bring us to the first law
of success is “First Within and Then Without.” Everything in life begins with the heart. The person
you are inside will determine the person you become on the outside. We must realize that
success is a heart matter, and like we have rightly affirmed that the heart of the matter is a
matter of the heart. Therefore to grow in life and ministry, we must first of all grow in, because
success is flung out of the heart (Prov. 23:7; Prov. 27:17; Prov. 4:23; Matt. 12:25 (amp.); III
John 2). You don't see people, things and situations in life the way they are but you see them the
way you are.

SUCCESS IS WHO YOU ARE (MATT. 9:16, 17; JN. 3:1 – 6)

Life does not give you what you deserve; it gives you what you are. Therefore “what you are” is “what
you deserve.” Being must always precede doing. Your nature will always put a limit on what you do.
Doing will naturally proceed from being. You derive your nature from your parents (Rom. 3:23; John
8:44; 2 Cor 5:17). To have a dramatic change in your life, you must change who you are. To have
something you have never had before, you must do something you have never done before. And to do
something you have never done before, you must become someone you have never been before. The
old you needs to die for a new you to resurrect (Jn. 12:24; I Cor. 13:11). Believing this and altering to
it automatically makes failure a thing of the past and success becomes natural, because the major
difference between the poor and the rich is INTERNAL. The journey from rags to riches and from grass
to grace is an INTERNAL thing. Success becomes cheap and natural when we alter who we are. We
need to be (1) Born of God and (2) Be conscious of our God-nature (I Jn. 5:4; I Jn. 4:4; John 8:32,
36; Jn. 10:34; III John 2).

INTRODUCTION:
Success we have defined as the achievement of God’s goals for your life. Success is not what you
do or what you have but who you are. God's measurement of success for any man is not in the
achievement of their personal agendas or goals. It is the achievement of the goals He has set for
our lives (Ephesians 2:10). We have said that, to grow in life and ministry, we must first grow
in, because success is flung out of the heart (Prov. 23:7; Prov. 4:23; Matt. 12:35). The
following are raw materials that will help you build your heart.

THE KEYS TO TRANSFORMATION (Rom. 12:2)

1. YOUR THOUGHTS: Thoughts are the raw materials that form a man’s heart. When God wants
to change your life, all he has to do is to send you new thoughts. Transformation can only take
place in your life when you experience a change in your mind. You can’t travel within and stand
still stand still without. So we must check your thoughts because the quality of your thoughts
determines the quality of your life. So change your thinking to change your life. In the area of our
finances; money is just an idea or a mindset. The absence of the thought-money is the poverty we
talk about and not the absence of the paper money. When abundance is a reality in our minds,
then it becomes a reality in our lives. The greatest battles we will ever fight will be in our minds.
This is where the spiritual warfare is; to deal with strongholds, mindset that does not agree with
God's Word in our lives. Any significant change in your life begins with a change of your thought in
mind. So, we must change our thinking to change our lives (II Corinthians 10:3–6).

2. YOUR FEELINGS: Feel like God

3. YOUR WORDS: Words are seeds. Words are powerful. God’s creative power is in his Words.
Our world is framed by our words (Heb. 11:3; Gen 1:26-27; John 1:1-3). The things we say
affect our lives first before it affects others. You are your own prophet (Rom 4:17; Num. 14:28;
Mk. 11:23, Eph. 3:20; Prov. 6:2). You hear yourself the MOST IN YOUR LIFE. Talk to yourself
everyday. Keep talking to eradicate doubts and unbelief from your heart. There has to be a
synchrony between what we say and we think. When we believe it, then we have it as reality (John
10:35).
4. YOUR VISION: People's lives will always move in the direction of the pictures in their hearts.
What you see is what you become. What you see everyday will form your life for a long time. Your
action will always be limited by your vision (Prov 29:18, I Kings 17). Nobody attempts to do
anything beyond the things that he sees. Before you enter a new dimension in your life and
ministry, you must first see it (II Cor. 3:18).
5. YOUR SELF-IMAGE: This is the picture you have of yourself. This picture you hold of yourself
will affect your self-esteem; which is the way you feel about yourself. How you feel comes as a
result of how you see yourself. How do you feel? Who do you feel like? If you see yourself as
being inferior, you will become inferior. If you see yourself as up-and-above, that is what you will
eventually become (Num. 13:33; Gen. 1:28; Rom. 8:29). Don't judge yourself too harshly; that
you make a mistake does not make you a mistake or a victim of life. Always learn your lessons,
forget the details and then move on with your life. (Job 8:7; Matt 5:48). We need to watch the
following when it comes to self-image: poor education; poor appearance; family status and
personal health in form of physical handicaps.
6. YOUR ACTION: We are creatures of habits. When something is programmed into our hearts
then we don’t have to think too deeply to do it. The only way to change or break old and bad
habits is to replace them with new and good habits, by inculcating them. Once we change on the
inside it is inevitable that our outside will change (Josh. 1:8). We must also watch: our language;
attitudes; time management and lifestyles - there is no need to be snobbish or proud.

INTRODUCTION:
Success we have defined as the achievement of God’s goals for our lives. Success is not what we
do or what we have but who we are. Preparation is the key to success in life. Nothing changes in
your life until you change. It is when you change that things become inevitable but change around
your life.

THE PROCESS OF TRANSFORMATION (LK. 5:36 – 39)

You don’t change after God has put new things into your life. God puts new things into you life after
you have changed. Nothing changes until you change. The poverty of the poor is not the lack of
money; it is an internal thing (Prov. 4:20 – 23; Matt. 13:15; Isa. 64:4; I Cor. 2:9, 10). You are
literally what your heart is, because whatever enters your heart has entered your life. We have two
gates into our lives, the ear gate and the eye gate. The primary tool for TRANSFORMATION of
any human being is the WORD OF GOD. The SEED is the WORD OF GOD. Revelation from God is
the key to outstanding success in life endeavors. INFORMATION is the BASELINE for
TRANSFORMATION. You can't have access to the information in the supernatural realm and remain
ordinary in the world. We have opportunity to succeed supernaturally in this world above our
contemporaries because of our access to the supernatural world.
5 STEPS TO TRANSFORMATION
1. Hearing: The internal hearing and the external hearing. Both are critical for the development of the
human heart.
2. Seeing: The seeing with the inner eyes and then with the outer eyes. Both are equally critical for
the development of the human heart.
3. Understanding with the heart: A man’s heart can be programmed both from the supernatural world
and the natural world. The primary tool for the transformation of any heart supernaturally is the
Word. In the natural realm, the equivalent to the word that transforms is information. Therefore,
information is the baseline for transformation.
4. Internal Conversion: Another word for this is simply CHANGE.
5. Physical Manifestation: … that your profiting may appear unto all (I Tim. 4:15).
6. Exposure.
You can never rise beyond the level of your knowledge (Isa. 55:8, 9; Deut. 28:1, 13). The summary of
the definition of SUCCESS is hearing from God and obeying what he says.
HOW TO SOURCE SPIRITUAL INFORMATION
1. Prayer: (Mark 1: 35; Jer. 33:3; Luke 9:29; Matt. 7:7; Hab. 2:1-2): We must pray practical and
realistic prayers and that is the prayer prayed according to God’s will (I Jn. 5:14 James 4:2-3).
We must also strive to secure our hearing from God, which is the major thing. Prayer is a dialogue
and not a monologue.
2. Meditation In the Word: It means to mutter to oneself; to roll over in thoughts; to think and apply.
(Josh. 1:8; Ps. 1:2; Ps. 39:3; Acts 6:2; Ps. 119:18; John 5:18-20, 30): Meditation requires
consistency. Developing focus until you achieve the desired result. (Gen. 11:6)
NATURAL PROCESS OF RECEIVING INFORMATION
1. Studying: Reading, Listening, Watching. "Whatever you see long enough enters your heart"
2. Association: (Prov. 13:20; Dan. 9:2; Acts 4:13) You are literally a product of your environment.
Associating with the wise will lift you to their level of understanding i.e. list the 7 people closest to
you, whose advice you take; you are literarily looking at the future
3. Mentoring: Riding on the shoulders of those ahead of you. Added value to our lives. (John 10:35,
Det 34:7, Jos. 1:5-8). Don't be sentimental, be sensitive to your destiny" "Don't argue with
INSTRUCTIONS from the wise". We must never argue with what proceeds from the wise especially
from our Mentors. You are like the tree and the results you are looking for are the fruits.

4. Exposure: Visit new places, read wide, challenge your sight with great and amazing images.
"Until your mind can cope with what is in your Spirit (heart), you might not get it on the ground"

INTRODUCTION:
Your self-image is the picture that you have of yourself. In Gen. 1:26, God himself makes us to
realise that there is a direct connection between image and dominion. Your self-image
determines your self-esteem (Num 13:33). During the fall of man, sin brought inferiority
complex by introducing to man a low self-image. Sin makes you feel unworthy, not competent
enough and living under one's potential. A lot of people still carry this image or mindset around in
our world today. If your diagnosis is wrong, then your prescription will be wrong.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A PERSON WITH A WEAK SELF-IMAGE

 A pessimistic outlook on LIFE, i.e. seeing themselves as victims of life instead of a victor
 Lack of confidence in social skills, i.e. not confident to make friends and relate with people
 Extreme sensitivity to the opinions of other people. It automatically shows that what people say
about you are is what matters. But opinions are cheap; convictions are what matter because
convictions are superior to opinions. People clinging on to opinions of others about them. Their lives
move in the direction of the opinions of others
 Self-consciousness about (a) appearance (b) performance (c) status. In life, we are not competing
but complementing one another. External factors do not define a person’s value. Internal factors are
what must define a person’s value (Ps. 73:1-24)
 A striving-to-become-something/somebody, instead of relaxing and enjoying who they are
 A critical and judgmental view of others. Don't run others down
 Defensiveness in conversation. “Never interpret general matters to become personal matters
 Developing clinging relationships, i.e. some of which are parasitic in nature.
 Inability to accept praise
 Depending on material possession for security
 Shifting of responsibility to others for negative situations. It takes a healthy self-esteem to accept
mistakes. Responsibility is the key or prize to greatness

WHAT TO DO IN BUILDING YOUR SELF-IMAGE

Believe that the truest things that you will ever know about your life are the things GOD SAYS ABOUT YOU.
Read the epistles and believe all the word says about you (Col. 1:12, Rom 8:37, I John 4:4; 5:4, Luke
1:45; John9:4; Matt 5:14-16; Luke 1:37; Phil 4:13; John10:18)). Read the words Jesus and believe all
He says about you (Lk. 12:32), because NO IMAGE means NO DOMINION

SELF-ESTEEM

SENSE OF BEING LOVED SENSE OF BEING SENSE OF BEING

The foundation of wisdom is information!

JOSHUA 1:8; PRO 4:23; PSALM 1:1-3.
INTRODUCTION
[HABITS OF SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE]
We are creatures of habits. Success is largely the results of what we do consistently; Success is therefore
defined as the achievement of God’s set goals for your life. Anything you do consistently for Twenty-
one (21) days becomes a habit, Habit is defined as those things that we do repeatedly or that we
do often and almost without thinking and it’s especially something hard to stop. When we do
consistently good things, success is inevitable. You don’t decide your destiny; you decide your habits, your
habit determines your character and your character determines your destiny. If you do not make conscious
efforts to change old habits by cultivating new ones; then you are not growing. This world is built on
consistency i.e. the earth rotates round the sun consistently once every 24 hours. The difference between
the successful and the failures is in their habits. The stronger your magnet becomes as a leader, the more
you attract opportunities. Take note of the following habits: Virtually everything we do is largely automatic
and unthinking, Over time we learn to follow the path of least resistance, as human beings we are creatures
of habit, From the time you wake in the morning till the time you go to bed at night we tend to follow a
particular pattern of doing the thing we’ve been accustomed to doing in the past. Example:
1. brush your teeth in the same way
2. some eat the same food for breakfast or lunch
3. greet people in same way with same words
4. follow the same route to work
5. in this class some will end up eating in same area for 3 weeks
Actually, there is nothing wrong with establishing habits that will simplify your life because that is what
habits do. In fact your life becomes successful to the degree to which many of the things you need to
concentrate on have become automatic and unthinking e.g. driving a car. When you make certain things
habitual so that they no longer require thought your mind becomes free to concentrate on the other things
at the same time that can be more helpful to you in achieving what you really want. There are two things
about habits;
1. Good habits are relatively speaking not easy form but easy to live with.
2. Bad habits are easy to form but not easy to live with.
Breaking a counter productive bad habit is tough work not impossible but tough. You need to critically
analyze and think through you to find out if they are helping you or not. The law of totality If a habit isn’t
helpful it is likely hurtful. You overcome a habit by overriding it with your desired habit.
HABITS OF SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE:
1. PRAYER AND MEDITATION: If you see anybody succeeding supernaturally, take time to discover how
he or she meditate and pray to God. In Josh 1:8; Ps. 1:2; day and night here, defines consistency and
continuity. Meditation means to roll over in thoughts; to mutter to ones self; to chew the cud. This is
the principal way God has given man to contact the supernatural world. It is a realm where we engage
both our spirits and our minds in thoughts. You deeply consider issues, find out how a thing works and
engage your imagination for a productive result. (Gen. 24:63; Ps. 39:3; 119:130; I Cor 2:9-10;
Prov. 20:27). What you see is what you say. (Prov 20:27; Job 32:8; Psalm 92:5) Thoughts attract
God into your situation. When a thought from God comes to you, you will know because it will set you
on fire because it will touch your emotion. If you are too busy to think, you have become too busy to
succeed (Mt. 1:20; Acts 10:19). Until I hear what the learned hear, I can’t talk what the learned talk.
You can’t be hearing from heaven and people won’t come to hear from you. Take interest in how
people draw virtue from GOD (Isa. 50:4-5). The spirit of man was designed by God to be sustained by
the Word of God. When you are hearing from heaven, people will come and hear from you (Jn. 5:30).
Success is not by struggle; it’s by hearing (Mk. 1:35 – 37). What you hear in the morning helps your
meditation all through the day. When you hear from heaven, your life becomes an attraction.

2. INTEGRITY: It means to be perfectly honest with God and with you as a person. Integrity is a lifestyle.
This is whom you are when no one is watching. This is not just about skill and expertise. The wise
person knows that without integrity, success is not possible, maturity is not possible and progress is not
possible. This is a prerequisite for being perfect; it is not actually being perfect. One word explains
integrity and that is righteousness. This also doesn’t mean being but it means being right or standing
right before God (Heb. 1:8). Integrity is a prerequisite for power (Ps. 89:20; Prov. 14:34). “The
integrity of the upright will exalt him" (Prov. 11:3-6). Integrity is a lifestyle just as righteousness is a
lifestyle. Integrity pays on the long run because on the short run it seems as if it is pain (Gen. 20:3-6;
I Sam 15:29; II Cor. 12:7- 9)

A L E A D E R S H I P D E V E L O P M E N T S C H O O L
… developing exceptional leaders
3. RESPONSIBILITY (Josh. 1:8): This word responsibility is a combination of RESPONSE + ABILITY. In
other words, it is the ability to respond to different situations. You are not yet a failure until you blame
someone else. It is not what happens to us that hurt us; it is how we respond that hurt us. We have
the power to choose how to respond to what happens around us. This is the definition of
responsibility. It teaches us to act rather than to react (Matt. 5:38 – 41). Wise people don’t let
things happen to them, they happen to things. That is they take initiative. Responsibility is the key to
true freedom. Once the devil knows that he can cause you to sin, he will stay with that particular thing
and do it consistently. You can disappoint the devil forever (Romans 6:14). You will never experience
joy in life if you don’t have the sense of responsibility that we are talking about here.

4. SELF IMPROVEMENT: Men of understanding will always attain unto wise counsel on the earth.
Learning should not be restricted to the four walls of a school. We must be consistent in learning.
(Prov. 1:5; Jn. 8:32; II Tim. 2:15): We talk so much about the anointing and the anointing oil; it is the
amount of truth that the oil meets that will determine how effective the oil will be (Hosea 4:6). Jesus
located his destiny by reading (Lk. 4:17, 18), Daniel (Dan. 9:2-3). The experience around us is that
there are no Public Libraries presently which already reflect the values we place on knowledge i.e.
Reading 1 hour a day in your area of specialty; in 2 – 3 years you are an authority in that area, in 5
years, you enter the first 5% in that field and in 10 years you enter the first 1% in that field. We must
always read, listen to tapes and educate our minds.

5. POSITIVE TALK: Successful people will correct the language of one who speaks negatively. Your life will
move in the direction of your confession. You can’t walk to the palace talking like a peasant. If death and
life are in the power of a man’s tongue, then death and life are in the power of his ‘talk’. There has to be a
change in what people say before they can experience change in their lives. When you make statement like
“I can’t get it,” it creates more impact on your mind than when you say, “How can I get it.” The former shuts
down your mind but the latter engages your mind for the solution to get it ( Num. 13:30, Num 14:28;
James 3:4-12).

6. ACTION ORIENTATION: The way God designed this world, nothing moves until you move it. If you see
anything that is working, it is being worked someone. (Heb 3:4). Newton law of Motion states that; "all
object remains at a state of rest until a force is applied to it". Be someone who always carries out your
decisions. Be an executive, the one who executes his plans. What keeps us from doing things is fear. But to
overcome fear, we must do the things we fear. Action delayed is destiny denied. Destiny delayed is the
devil’s delight (II Tim 1:7).

7. PERSISTENCE: Develop an attitude of not giving in until you get your desired results. (Luke 18:1-7). This
is the attitude that refuses to give up on an issue. This is because things don’t always work out the first time
(II Kings 13:14 – 20). Persistence wears out your challenges. We need to do these things as consciously as
we breath. Do something new when the anointing is on. Take action under the anointing and don’t delay.
Double portion of the anointing is a function of persistence in life.

8. SERVICE: Most people fail in life because they are goal getters. Be passionate about what to give and
not what you desire to get. Successful people have come to realise that the more you give the more
you get (Acts 20:35; Lk. 6:38; Mk. 10:42-45). You can multiply your life by giving it away and you
can multiply your worth and values by just giving yourself away (I Kings 3:7-12). Greedy people cause
artificial scarcity (Prov 11:24-25). How do you see people? We must be out to give continually. There
is no great leader without great people. It is better to live a life of contribution.

9. DECISIVENESS: "Decision determines destiny". Successful people have developed the ability to make
up their minds quickly. They make up their minds fast. This world has been designed by God to
respond to decisions. Nothing becomes dynamic until it becomes specific. So your decision determines
your destiny. Your destination is a result of your decision, so we must decide where we are going
because life paves way for the one who has knowledge of where he wants to go. Life assists those who
have decided where to go. Make your decisions; they will turn around to make you ( Deut. 30:15;
Josh. 24:15; I Kings 18:21). “Choose you this day whom you will serve …” (Rev. 3:15, 16) - An
indecisive Christian is useless to God; even to the devil. Your success in life begins with a decision.

10. INNOVATION: Successful people have the habit of using what they have to get what they want;
investing new tools for achievement of goals. If the way they have been doing it does not work they
will try another way. Successful people like to make it cheaper, easier and better. Therefore it is this
innovation that leads us to inventions. What makes the world more innovative is that some people are
thinking and working to make things better, easier and cheaper for the world (II Chron. 26:14, 15).

FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURAL TEXT:
INTRODUCTION [HABITS OF SUCCESSFUL
PEOPLE]
We have said that we are creatures of habits. Success is largely the results of what we do consistently.
When we do consistently good things, success is inevitable. We have said that the difference between the
successful and the failures is in their habits. We continue on the habits today:
11. SPECIALISATION: The higher you rise, the less you know (Prov 22:29). Focus is the key to
outstanding in life. You should be known for something. When they call your name, one thing should
come to their minds. Bill Gates - computers; Mother Teresa - charity; Benny Hinn - Holy Spirit; Mike
Murdock - Wisdom (Gal. 2:7-9). You should be known for something. All successful people specialises.
They protect themselves from being dragged away from their area of strength/expertise i.e. David and
the sling shot (I Sam 17:38-40). Don't just imagine success always try things out.

12. ASSOCIATION: Successful people are very deliberate about the people they associate with because
they have discovered the impact it has on their destiny (Ps. 1:1-3; Prov 13:20; I Cor. 15:33). You
can drastically change your life by changing those you associate with. When you list the name of the
seven (7) people that are closest to you, you are looking at your future. We should relate with the
people that are higher than us in life and that must challenge our thinking pattern. Anybody who helps
your thinking to go up has helped your life to go up. Never come into the presence of greatness
without questions. It would be a grievous mistake because questions are the answers that we are
looking for. Your association will determine your manifestation. You can't be better than the quality of

people you relate with. (II Sam 13).

13. PRUDENCE: Ability to effectively manage your resources for maximum results. Successful people may
have so much but won’t waste it (Prov. 21:20; Mk. 6:30-34). God does not respect waste. To be
wealthy is to increase in income and control outgo. If you waste that which is little, you will waste that
which is much. Therefore, don’t allow waste around you because one waster will cause God’s flow to
stop around you.

14. TIME MANAGEMENT (Eccl. 3:1-11; Ephe. 5:15-18; Col. 4:5) Time is more than money. Time is life.
Time is the most valuable resource heaven will ever give you. They say time is money because time is
convertible. It can be converted to money, to promotion, to wisdom; time is convertible because
successful people value time. In Ps. 90:12, Moses said; “Teach us to number our days that we may
apply our hearts to wisdom.” To enter into the gates of wisdom is to make the most of your time. If you
“Kill Time,” you are not committing murder; you are committing suicide because time is life. Time is
opportunity (Eph. 5:16). To make the most of your time; (1) Value time over your money and
activity - rich people think that time is important over money but the poor think that money is
important over time. God gave everybody equal amount of time and that is 24 hours. ( 2) Invest your
time productively; don’t spend it (I Chron. 12:32). (3) Sensitivity: being sensitive to the seasons
of your life. A change in season should bring a change in levels. Spend the most valuable part of your
day on the things that are important. Anyone who doesn’t value your time doesn’t value your life.

15. REPRODUCTION (Gen. 1:28): “Be fruitful and multiply…” The vision of successful people transcends
success, because the focus on successors (I Tim. 2:2; Deut. 34:7-9). The vision of businesses and
ministries must outgrow it founders by all standards.

16. RENEWAL: Successful people work hard but they know when to take in by rest and recuperation. The
law of Sabbath - this where God set a pattern for creativity (Mk. 6:30-32). Successful people know
that there is a point that you get to where the law of diminishing return sets in. Without rest your
system is jammed, there are so many things you will not be able to take, even heaven will not send
something new to you. Rest is what God designed for renewal. Once in a while, a new you need to
come out fresh. So there is power in renewal i.e. leaves, snakes.

17. PLANNING (Prov. 24:3, 4 TLB): You can never define wisdom outside of thinking. Therefore, before you
build a house, an organisation, a ministry, you need to do a whole lot of thinking. The more you plan, the
more you rise. Planning is simply thinking ahead. Most people roam through life, but the problem solver do
plan, and make most of the opportunities around them. The more time people spend on planning, the higher
they rise (Prov. 27:12). Planning helps you to solve problems upfront so that when you arrive at that point,
you will know you are not supposed to do what you are doing (Prov. 16:9 TLB).

REASONS FOR NOT PLANNING

 They don’t know how to plan.
 Some others set high goals when there is no immediate achievement and then they get
frustrated.
 Maranatha fever especially for the born again believers; the syndrome that “Jesus is
coming soon.”
We must make planning a habit. Most people fail in life, not because they planned to fail but
because they fail to plan (Lk. 14:28 – 31). Without goals through adequate planning, there
can't be any success. Develop step-by-step programme towards your desired objective.

18. THE SEED PRINCIPLE: Everyone with a seed has a guarantee future in God. The future is buried in the
seed. The death of a seed is the burial of a forest. You need to become aware of your seeds that God has
available to you. God commanded you to be fruitful (Gen 1:26-28; Gal. 6:7-9; Gen 8:22; John 10:35):
Others call this is “the law of cause and effect”. You can’t be fruitful if you are not ‘seedful’. The person who
has a seed today is the one who has a future (Gen. 1:29).
THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF SEEDS"
A. PHYSICAL SEEDS
 Human Seeds. (Psalm 22:30)
 Plant Seeds (Gen 1:29)
 Material things
 Money
 Our Deeds. That is why acts of love, kindness, forgiveness, stealing, faithfulness, loyalty,
betrayal etc. are all seed.
B. SPIRITUAL SEEDS
 Words - revelation from God
 Thoughts - ideas and dreams are seeds.
Never eat your seed. Always remember that INVESTMENT is the key to ACHIEVEMENT (Gen 8:22).

19. EXCELLENCE: This must become both a habit and a lifestyle. This simply means good quality. It also
implies to doing it better each time. Excellence is not a destination; it is a journey. Which means what
was excellent yesterday is not excellent today anymore. To cultivate excellence, you must become an
expert in your field. This word ‘excellence’ must become a watchword to the church world now. We
must not become the reservoir of mediocrity. If excellence will become a habit you must have this
mindset; don’t ask, “How much it will cost to do something”; ask “how much it will cost you if you don’t
do it.” Because it could cost you your position, your members, your customers, your money, even your
life (Prov. 22:29 I Cor 2:14).

20. GRATEFULNESS OR GRATITUDE (I Thess. 5:18; John 11:41; John 6:11; Ephesians 5:20; Col.
3:17): Successful people have the attitude of gratitude, because Jesus gave thanks even in the face of
a difficult situation (Eph. 5:20). Sometimes you need to thank God upfront. We must cultivate an
attitude of gratitude.

FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURAL TEXT:
PROV 23:7; ROMANS12: 2; III JOHN 2.
INTRODUCTION
A basic understanding of money is that its supply depends on your mindset i.e. abundance, scarcity,
scarcity, being rich and being poor; all are MINDSETS. The major difference between those who have and
those who don’t have is INTERNAL. The word “SET” is used in construction. When concrete is poured into a
mould, when it concretises, solidifies, it’s now SET. This is how the mindset works. Thoughts flow in and out
but once it enters the heart, it becomes set. This is a MINDSET. Being rich is a mindset and being poor is a
mindset. It is not about the amount of money flowing into the organisation, etc. Proverbs 23:7; II John 2
affects our finances. Don't allow scarcity to set in your mind. Learn to develop an abundance mentality and
not not-enough mentality. Defining money as a problem in the process of wealth creation makes it one.
When you view money in a negative light, money becomes far more elusive.

ABUNDANCE MENTALITY
To change your financial status, changing mindset is the answer. In Rom. 12:2 “… be transformed
by the renewing of your mind.” Don’t allow the present (scarcity, etc) to set in your mind. John 6:5-13;
“… is not sufficient for them, that everyone of them may have a LITTLE … what are they among so many” 
The disciples of Jesus had a “not-enough mentality.” One of them saw that MONEY was not enough and
another saw that MATERIALS i.e. fish & bread was not enough. But Jesus was different. Anyone who walks
with God should understand that God couldn't be poor. The One who brought water out of the rock can
always look around to get what He wants. It did not occur to Jesus that there will be nothing around. If you
are running a ministry or family, the success depends on mindset. It’s not about what is in your pocket or
your account, but prosperity is about what is in your mind. III John 2. Soul prosperity is the foundation for
material prosperity. The human mind is like a fry pan.
(Luke 5:37, 38) If you’re not seeing new wine, it’s not that the wine is in short supply. Change the wine
bottle and experience a new supply. The new level of finances is fresh wine. The difference between the
rich and the poor is in the APPLICATION

There’s a part of the human brain behind the skull called “RAS” – Reticular Activating System. It keeps the
man from going mad. It screens out information that is not compatible with your system. Hence, we throw
away things that are stressful for our minds, especially ideas that are too big for us to chew. II Cor 10:1-4 
is why spiritual warfare is a question of the mind. Many poor people throw away the ideas from a rich
person. For example, pastoring a large church is a mindset. Once you change the wineskin, God will
pour out the new wine and this starts by developing a new mindset, called abundance mentality.

MINDSETS TO DEAL WITH!

1. The Poorer You Are, The Holier You Become (Luke 16:19-23, Matt. 8:20, 19:24, Luke 18:18-22). Lazarus
went to heaven not because he was poor but because he was righteous.
2. Money Is The Root Of All Evil. (I Tim 6:12; Eccl 7:12,16; 2 Cor 8:9) money gives you choices and enable you
to live your life the way you want. Money is good
3. Money Answers Only to Prayer – Just pray, He will meet all your financial needs.
4. God Is Only Interested In Spiritual Things (Deut. 23:19) – No need to talk about money in the church,
sixteen out of thirty eight was on money/ stewardship.
5. Preachers Want To Get Your Money – money is part of worldly system
6. Be Content With What You Have (Luke 14:28-30)
7. Only payment of Tithes and Offerings gives you money (Hosea 4:6) – Wrong assumption is that they are
automatic tickets to wealth. God is interested in how you manage your 90% too

God created everything in abundance; scarcity is manmade! I Tim 6:12. The love of money, not money, is
the root of all evil. Money is the lifeblood of the group you are leading. Nothing takes the place of money in
the area that money works. You deserve to be rich.” Don’t feel guilty for being blessed. In any case, some
people have to go ahead to pave a way for the sake of the people you are leading.
The principle behind economics is the principle of stewardship. (John 3: 27, James 1:17), Economics is the science
of
how people make common sense decisions regarding money; managing, investing and creating wealth.

INTRODUCTION
One critical factor to the flow of funds is HOW IT IS MANAGED (Prov. 21:20; 28:20). It is faithfulness
with wealth that qualifies us for more (Lk. 16:10-12; I Cor 4:2). Faithfulness with money and someone
else’s business – the issues is not the quantity but how you are handling it.
Your management of finances will directly affect the progress of anything you are doing! If you are not
doing well with the resources God gives you, God will cut back on what He sends to you. And some people
do not get money because of the SPOUSE’S ATTITUDE to money. Whatever God gives you; it is for the
whole family. Money is the lifeblood of any organisation. We cannot afford to be extravagant with our
resources.

THE CONCEPT OF MONEY

 Do not allow money to take God’s place. You can’t serve two masters, God & mammon. Money
will always want to struggle for the first place. It’s a good servant but a bad master. Don’t give
money final say over your affairs. Your joy should not be built around money (Neh 8:10; Ps 16:11)
– for some when there’s no money, there are quarrels. Use as a servant to achieve God's purpose for
your life.
 Make the most of available resources per time. Recall the parable of talents; the man with two
talents, though smaller still produced same rate of 100%. Get rid of the idea that you don’t have
enough to start with. Don’t run your ministry/organisation at a loss. Profit in ministry is in souls.
“Have the head of a minister and the heart of a businessman” (Matt. 25:15-18). At any
point, what is coming in must be more than what is going out! “Invest in whatever will increase
your turnover.” Output answers to input. The more people come in ministry, the more money you
get; e.g. cutting down on advert is cutting down on awareness, so people will stop coming.

 Keep accurate financial records (Matt. 25:19). Jesus is interested in money and how we
manage it. Jesus sat over against the treasury (Mark 12). He checks church records. Have a
financial plan that will include:
 Develop Adequate Perspective About Money
 Develop a Budget in Money Matter (a) Budget – Income & Expenditure (assets, savings,
tithe, and admin) (b) Financial Reports – should be prepared periodically. The shorter
the period, the better (i.e. weekly, monthly, daily etc). Jesus is coming to settle His
accounts (Matt. 25:19).
 Anticipate Sources Of Income
 Secure Commitment To Support The Budget
 Use Orderly Plans For Receiving Money
 Systematize The Counting And Banking Procedures
 Record Money Received
 Use Standard Procedures for Requisitioning, Disbursing and Purchasing
 Use Adequate Accounting And Auditing Procedures.
 Report Appropriately To The Management

 Your performance at the Current Level Will Determine Clearance to the Next Level (Mt.
25:29, 30). To everyone who has, MORE will be given. The issue of the gospel is beyond salvation.
Jesus also gave the great commission for TRAINING because there is something you know that others
do not know. We have turned Christianity into a vocation when God intended it to be a lifestyle.
“Teach” & “Preach” have been spiritualised. “Preach”  Proclaim good news. “Teach” 
Communicate. “It is not every coach (trainer) that holds a microphone”. It is guiding people until
they develop skill in that area. You should leave the realm of showmanship. Our assignment is to
package ourselves and bring many others to pattern our lives after it. It is only in academics that
collecting certificate qualifies In REAL LIFE, it is not so. ‘No result, no respect.’ A school should
produce coaches, not footballers. But you can’t coach until you have applied the things you learn
and you have gotten results!

 Maintain A Positive Cash Flow Every Time Set your financial goals where you want to be five –
ten years
from now. Financial success starts when you
a Decide what you want
b Believe it’s possible that you deserve it
c Focus: think about it, visualize it’s yours

EXODUS 25:1-9; ECCL. 3:1-11.
INTRODUCTION
What is Project - A project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, or service, or
result. Examples are: Premises Move/Relocation, Curriculum Development, Reviewing Procurement System,
Building a House, Writing a Book, Getting a Degree, Launching Space Shuttle, Introducing a New Service...

Project Management is defined as the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project
activities to meet the project requirements.

PROPER [DIVINE] PERSPECTIVE TO PROJECTS

 DON’T LOSE SIGHT OF YOUR PRIMARY ASSIGNMENT. If you are in ministry, you are in the
business of catching men. If you are in business, you are out to offer products or services. In
ministry, don’t turn projects into your ministry. Touching people’s life; that is ministry. Business is
adding value to people’s lives.
 DIVINE DIRECTION: Every project must be as directed or commanded by the Lord (Exo. 25:1-9;
Exo. 35:4). Clear every project with the Lord before you embark on it (Ps. 127). We should beware
of unholy competition or comparison. Every person’s personality is different. II Cor. 10:12 – it is
foolish to run another person’s race with another person’s pace. We should listen more to God than
we listen to men. There is plenty of assumption flying around. When it is heavenly commanded it
will be heavenly funded. There is nothing like when God is helping you.
 DIVINE TIMING: Eccl. 3:1-11. Not every time is right for every project. When something is being
done at the right time, it comes through with minimum stress. Whenever God give a vision, there is
a way it grips you and becomes so real to you that you want to jump at it. But between the times we
saw it and the time we are supposed to execute it, there is a time lapse. Visions are for appointed
times because at the end of the vision it would speak. Things will just begin to happen on their own.
Eccl. 11:3 – God doesn’t have anything to do with the programme, all we have to do is check with
God for timing. I Chron. 28:2, 3, 6. Some people get visions that will be left for posterity because
one person might not be able to fulfil all the vision.

WHY PROJECT SUCCEEDS

Strong business case – is this just a whim or is there a real need for the project? If so, prove it!
Top leadership commitment – these are the decision-makers and they hold the purse strings. You have
to have their buy-in or else you set yourself up for failure. Every project has to have a CHAMPION = Senior
management sponsor!
Effective user involvement is a showstopper. The users will be the staff who are going to live and
breathe the system once its implemented. You need their expertise and their buy-in to make the project a
success. Leave them out and be ready to meet resistance to any change you try to implement.
Effective transition to New or unfamiliar technology is always a risk. It raises risks and fears. You
always need to manage risks. So, do your homework in your planning phase to make sure the chosen
solution will work for you! You may want to perform a proof of concept and test it before deciding to move
forward into full blown design and development. Recognize that even if it does work, there are other
implications that need to be closely scrutinized and planned for accordingly – such as training and support.

Other Success Factors:

1. Sound project management processes
2. Project tied to the organizations goals
3. Top management commitment
4. Good change management
5. Detailed requirements -- Requirements must be defined (no one can read your mind), clear (what do
you really mean), and concise (I want this to do this
6. Realistic schedule
7. Good stakeholder relationships
8. Empowered project manager
9. Skilled and appropriate team members with defined roles and responsibilities
10. Availability of funding

PROJECT FINANCING
Finance is one of the life wires of any business. How you source your fund is very important and should be given a
serious consideration. Another life-wire is the Management Of Your Available Fund.

SOURCES OF FINANCES:
Have a clear idea of what you want to do; have a feasibility study to guide you towards success and away
from failure. (Luke 14:28-30)
 Personal Savings – Your personal resources, your number one important source.
The basic principle of financial management; Don’t eat all that you have, Pay yourself 10% every
month you can save S200/day, S1000/weekly, S100,000/2 years, S520,000/10 years
 Banks
 Utilise short or long term Financing facility On assets which can be disposed (Loans, Banks
overdraft, Trade Credits) –Short term (one year), Medium Term Finance (Between one – five years),
Long Term Finance (More than five years)
 Family and Friends
 Cooperative Societies
 Venture Capitalist – Other People’s Money (OPM)
 Private Equity Firms
 Hire Purchase – Repayment spread over time but interest is high
 Leasing – An agreement with a repayment schedule,

ALWAYS SEEK FOR ADVICE

HOW TO RAISE MONEY

 Note that money is not paper but value
 Have a financial goal
 Trade your skill
 Refine your skill (find your niche)

TIPS ON RAISING FUNDS

 When it is heaven’s mandate, it will enjoy heaven’s funding (Exo. 36:3-5). There will be no
shortage if God sent you on that assignment.
 Don’t put undue pressure on your resources (Exo. 35:5; I Cor. 9:17). You must be sensitive to
your capacity per time. Be sensitive to your flock. Your growth must not be truncated because of the
ongoing project. Don't put yourself, people around you, your finances, organisation or ministry under
pressure (Gen. 33:12-14).
 When the blessing is flowing, the contribution will continue backed up with definite and
outstanding testimonies
 Focus on giving (Acts 20:35). We are in ministry and business to give and not to squeeze the
people. When we keep focus on giving, adding values to people's lives, we will get the returns on our
investments. You are not in business just for the sake of making profit but you are there to offer
services.
 Go for excellence. Excellence is the possession of good quality chiefly in an unusual degree. It is
not a destination but a journey. It is getting the best out of what you have per time. Excellence
gives you an edge, just as quality gives you an edge. Don't lose your excellence to competitions. For
those in the ministry, your competitors are not other ministries. Your competitions are those things
that are trying to take people’s attention away from God - media tools and the entertainment world.

CONCEPT OF SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT

INTRODUCTION:
A system is a group of parts or things working together as a whole. The human body is an example of
system functions. Where every system is working right, there is health. Where there is health, there is
growth. Nobody can make any living thing to grow (I Cor. 3:6). It is God who has the power to make
things grow and gives growth (I Cor. 12:12; 18-20).

BENEFITS OF SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT (EXO. 18:1-27,

emphasis on vs. 20-23)
 It allows for growth. The evolvement of systems will provide for greater efficiency and
effectiveness. This will expand the scope of your operations and usher in growth
 It allows for the addition of skill beyond that of the leader. This is because the
leader can’t do everything by alone. He needs other skills around him because no one has
the ability to specialize in every thing
 It prevents breakdown due to stress. Statistics has proven that 90% of a one-man
business dies within the first 5 years in existence. In 10 years, 99% of every one-man
business dies. This is because he can’t go on break. To increase the income of the
company, he has to kill every other thing around it, but instead, it ends up killing him
 It focuses the resources of the ministry/organisation around a common purpose
 Produces Consistency and Predictability
 Order
 You will grow wealthy when you can build a system. This will help you to know
whether your business is a small one or a big one. You will grow wealthy well when you
grow a system that runs even when you are not there.

BUILDING A SYSTEM
You are bound to run on sentiments without a proper system in place.
 Establish a clear purpose for your ministry/organisation. This can also be said to be a
clear direction. If you don’t each parts of the organisation will be travelling different
directions.
 Structure around your purpose. One of the systems should be the mainline. The basic
thing your organisation is known for should be the strongest system; for example, the
hospital should be strong on Medical Services and a church should be strong on Pastoral
Care. You must know and understand the peculiarity of your purpose.

Organizational Structure

You do this because the major

part of your job should zero in
on what the structure should
look like and what you want to

 Walk through your structure (FOR A CHURCH MINISTRY). The basic systems in a
church ministry should be and must be structured around the Five (5) purposes of the
church as provided for in the scriptures. They are (a) Evangelism, (b) Discipleship (c)
Worship (d) Ministry and (e) Fellowship (Acts 2:42 – 47)
 Start small and expand the structure as growth comes. Receiving God's wisdom to
change and provide a suitable structure as you grow is one of the critical factors for your

success.

 Develop a structure for each system and an overall structure for the whole
ministry/organisation. For example you have growth barriers to deal with, which you must
confront with an adequate structure in place.
 Structure for the next phase if you are expecting growth. So that you will not be
managing crises when growth comes. You also do this not for where you are but for where
you are going. The structure is to help the organisation to maximize their effectiveness and
productivity.
 Keep it simple. Don’t allow structure to frustrate growth. When it becomes complex, it
becomes bureaucratic. Don’t exchange the structure for the main job. Face the main job
and then restructure. Always try to achieve balance – it makes health possible.
"Rick Warren said; when a Pastor of a church is a Teacher – what we have is a classroom
church, when a Pastor of a church is an Evangelist – what we have is a soul winning church,
when a Pastor of a church is a Pastor – what we have is a Family church, when a Pastor of a
church is a Prophet – what we have is a social action church (i.e. a radical church)"
"Rev Sam Adeyemi said; when a Pastor of a church is an Apostle; being a pioneering
personality – he would likely have in place all other Four (4) areas of ministry in proper
place".
 Train the people who will run the system. Design trainings for improved skills, level of
expertise. Work yourself out of the job. If your ministry/organisation can run for one year in
your absence, your system is a success. This is REAL SUCCESS in term of POSTERITY. (Pro
13:22; Luke 5:37-38; I Cor. 14:33, 40) The Holy Spirit feels comfortable around order.
Structure and organisation should not take the place of the Holy Spirit, but structure, order
and organisation will enhance the move of the Holy
Spirit.

THE MAKING OF A LEADER
FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURAL TEXT:
MATT 9:36-37; ISAIAH 3:12; MATT 28:18-20
INTRODUCTION:
Leadership is the ability to inspire and influence a group of people to achieve worthwhile goals. This is not
just getting things done but getting others to do it. D L Moody said; “I would rather put ten (10) men to work
than do the work of ten (10) men. The greatest need of humanity today is leadership. You become valuable
and needed when you can cultivate the habit of leadership (Mt. 9:36-38). The problem of the average
person on the street today is that they don’t know how to live, succeed and make headway with their lives.
Each one of us should take the responsibility of becoming a guide to the ignorant of this world. The quality
of a nation, an organisation or a family can never be better than the quality of the leadership that is over
that place (Isa. 3:12; 9:16). Every human person goes in the direction that the head goes (Matt. 28:18-
20; Matt 5:16-20). We are here to influence the face of politics, economy, and the gospel ministry.
Everything rises and falls on leadership.

1. HOW TO BECOME A LEADER

Leaders are ordinary people who discover their greatness, unique abilities or potentials while
trying to overcome extraordinary challenges. I.e. when I have a problem, I want to follow someone
who has had a similar problem and has solved it using God's wisdom. The quickest route to
leadership is problem solving. God help you to:
solve your own problem first ( Joseph; David; Gideon and Daniel)
-
help others solve their own problems by the things you have discovered when
-
solving your own problems. (2 Cor 1:3-4, Luke 4:18)
God changes a leader before He uses the leader to create change .

2. THE COST OF LEADERSHIP

 Discipline is a non-negotiable price for the anointing and leadership. The ability to
bring our emotions and our attitude under control (I Cor. 9:24-27; Eccl 9:8). Leaders
do not do what they want to do; they do what they have to do. Nobody has ever
amounted to anything without discipline
 Self-sacrifice. The word sacrifice connotes death. A leader should be willing to pay
the ultimate price for a course. Live your life on a crusade to be a leader. The best
thing to do with ones life is to invest it. The more you hoard your life, the less it
becomes and the more you give your life the greater it becomes (Mk. 8:34-38; Psalm
22:30; John 12:24; Prov 11:24-25). The most powerful way to get wealthy is to be a
crusader. Crusaders don't die. They live for posterity.

3. THE ESSENCE OF LEADERSHIP

Why do we need leaders? (Mk. 10:42-45). The essence of leadership is SERVICE. A leader has
to influence a paradigm shift and also have it. True leaders love people more than they love
power and position. So when they get power, they use it for the benefit of the people. True
leaders grow people and help people; because they are people focussed. Leadership is the
greatest need of mankind (Matt. 28:18-20).

LEVELS OF LEADERSHIP

 L E V E L 1 - P O S I T I O N : People enter to this level of leadership by being appointed

and given a title. The position and that title are what gives you influence over other
people. For most people on this level, their security is based on – (a) Protocol (b)
Organisational Charts (c) Territorial Rights (d) Tradition. This is the entry-level in
leadership. This is not leadership on productivity but through an opportunity to lead.
When a person’s leadership ability is entirely based on this, they lead by control and
intimidation. Then the people don’t follow such leader beyond stated authority. People
who stay on this level find it difficult to work with volunteers. We should seek to move on
to higher levels

 L E V E L 2 - P E R M I S S I O N : This is when your right to lead does not come from the
authority that appoints but the initiatives are from the followers. This level of leadership
begins with the heart and not with the head. This is a heart connection process. It comes
by caring for the needs and desires of the follower. Nobody cares about what you know
until they know that you care. A leader here takes interest in the person or the people.
Those who can’t build solid and lasting relationships cannot succeed on this level. You
can love people without leading them but you can’t lead people without loving them
(John 17)

 L E V E L 3 - P R O D U C T I O N : This is the result-oriented level. The characteristics of

this level are: (a) Result happens, without hassles; (b) Morale is high; (c) Turnover is
low (i.e. the way people leave the organisation or group); (d) Leading is fun; (e)
Problems are solved with minimum effort

 L E V E L 4 - P E O P L E D E V E L O P M E N T : A leader is great not because of his/her

power but because of ability to empower others (on the long run, success without a
successor is actually failure). You must get to the point where you are threatened by the
success of other people. This must be the deliverance point for most African leaders who
hold on to positions. We must overcome the challenges of insecurity, emotional
instability. A worker does it himself; a leader develops others to do it. This level is the
best way to get the highest level of loyalty. Your core leadership comes from this level,
the people you have personally groomed.

 L E V E L 5 - P E R S O N H O O D : At this leadership position, you don’t need an

attachment, nor title or an office attached to your name and personality. You don’t need
anyone to define who you are rather you have become an institution. Your influence has
broken the border of your organization. You have become a walking institution. (Phil.
2:5-9, Acts 10:38).

L EADERSHIP - II
INTRODUCTION:
We have said that leadership is the ability to inspire and influence a group of people to achieve worthwhile goals.
We said you become valuable and needed when you can cultivate the habit of leadership (Mt. 9:36-38). Each
one of us should take the responsibility of becoming a guide to the ignorant of this world. The quality of a nation,
an organisation or a family can never be better than the quality of the leadership that is in place. (Matt. 28:18-
20) We are here to influence the face of politics, economy, and the gospel ministry. We must assume the
responsibility of teaching our ethnos - people whom we have something in common with, train them, lead them,
shepherd them, show them the way and teach them how to live. We said, everything rises and falls on leadership.

THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A LEADER

I. Leaders initiate change: They lead others into new experiences or levels in life. A leader helps his
people to move on to higher things. This is because they are dissatisfied with the current levels that
they have attained. Even though most people dread, hate and resist change, for the leader, change
becomes an inevitable part of his life. Leaders give us paradigm shifts. Most people know there is
supposed to be the change but they won’t do anything about it. They are waiting for who will “bell the
cat.” (Exodus 2:11-15)
II. Leaders have a sense of divine timing: (I Chron. 12:32) This is a very critical point. The person
who knows what to do and knows how to do it takes the leadership position because timing is
everything. You can do the right thing at the wrong time. The different categories are: (1) Wrong
thing  Right time (2) Wrong thing  Wrong time (3) Right thing  Right time (Lk. 4: 14, 18)
(4) Right thing  Wrong time. Leaders don’t move before God moves, they don’t move after God
has moved. They move when God moves.
III. Leaders Know and Focus on What is Important: Not everything is important. Everything can’t
take priority in your life. Many can’t prioritise because they confuse the things that are urgent with
things that are important (Acts. 6:2-7). Leaders must do some things but there are others that must
be passed on to other people.
IV. Leaders have vision: We know vision is the ability to see (Prov. 29:18). There are three (3)
dimensions to vision, i.e. Hindsight, Insight & foresight. Hindsight is the ability to see into the past.
Many need history to understand this dimension. The correct analysis of the past will give us a correct
view of the future. Look at how it was done before and use it to know how to do it now. Insight is the
ability to see beyond the obvious (II Kings 6:13-18). Foresight simply means to foresee (Prov.
27:12). Leaders don’t run to where the ball is, they run to where the ball is going.
V. Leaders have commitment: Leaders are willing to pay the price. Commitment is superior to
involvement (Acts 20:24). I.e. in the story of Bacon and eggs, the pig committed his life but the
chicken was only involved. If you don’t give your best, you can’t get the best out of it.
VI. Leaders connect with people: They touch and love people with emotions (Act 20:36-38; Matt
9:38).
VII. Leaders have a positive attitude: Leaders are usually incurable optimists. A positive attitude is
contagious (I Sam. 30:1-8). This energises and creates a way out of every situation.
VIII. Leaders are winners: It is better to follow someone who will lead you into victories. Every leader
must have personal victories (I Sam. 17; I Sam 18:6-8).
IX. Leaders are learners: In other words, leaders are committed to self-improvement (Prov. 1:5).
They keep looking for how to do it better. This is because leaders are readers.
X. Leaders have character or integrity: Character is the foundation for a leaders promotion. Lack
of character can nullify what a leader’s skill has accomplished. Lack of skill can’t knock out what
character has built (Ps. 78:72). They match their words with deeds. When wealth is lost, nothing is
lost. When health is lost, something is lost. When character is lost, all is lost (Billy Graham). The bible
says that righteousness exalts (Prov. 14:34). Lack of character can close the door that skills open.
XI. Leaders have the anointing of the Spirit: Spiritual leadership is impossible without this. This is
the channel through which God operates through them. To succeed in spiritual leadership, you have

A L E A D E R S H I P D E V E L O P M E N T S C H O O L

to have ability beyond the ordinary. They depend more on God’s ability than on their own (I Sam.

THE CONCEPT OF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND RECRUITMENT
FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURAL TEXT:
II TIM 2:2; ISAIAH 3:12; GENESIS 14:14.
INTRODUCTION:
Manpower is needed to bring a dream on ground. Leaders know that growing people is their greatest
priority. Leadership is a mindset. Leaders know that the greatest assets any ministry or organisation will
have are people, NOT THE BUILDING, EQUIPMENT OR EVEN THE LANDED PROPERTY. Where there is now
vision the people perish; but where there is no people the vision perish. The quality of the organisation or
group depends on the quality of people in it. Wherever you are as a leader, you have to move from being a
player to becoming a coach. As soon as Jesus began his ministry, he commenced his leadership
development (Matt. 4:18-22; 9:9, 10; II Tim. 2:2). There is a difference between raising followers and
raising leaders. The overall success of any leader is not measured by the amount of those following the
leader but by the number of people following those who are following the leader. The more you walk
yourself out of the job, the more successful you become as a leader.
Change
1000 200
BENEFITS OF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT 0
 Increases success level of leadership: You will literally multiply your effectiveness as a
leader. What you would have confronted alone; just training others and you have others to
confront that which you would have confronted all by yourself (Deut. 32:30; Eccl. 4:9; Lk.
10:1, 2; Gen. 14:14-16)
 It increases growth potential: (Acts 6:1-7)
 It deepens commitment: Your life will only move closer to what you see clearly. When
commitment is deepened, people will imbibe the vision because the opportunity is afforded
 It enhances the future: Every God-given vision is designed to last beyond one
generation. Do it alone syndrome is a short-term solution. But when you train and raise
leaders like yourself, you are programming for the future (Ps. 22:30, Gen 17:9, 19).
 It reduces executive stress or burn out
 Organizational agility to respond to change is increased
 It improves “bottom-line” financial performance
 It attracts and retain talents

HOW TO RECRUIT LEADERS?

When your recruitment process is right, then every other thing will be right, so;

 Start With Prayer - (Lk. 6:12-16): It is not everybody who can learn from you. Don’t use
sentiments to recruit i.e. someone being your kinsman (e.g. Abraham & Lot in Gen 13)
 Look for Potential Not Finished Product: You have to see people the way God sees
them (I Sam. 22:1-2 Vs II Sam 23:8; I Sam 16:1-3; Matt 4:19). Leaders must never
use people’s circumstances or the past to judge their ability. There is something more
scarcely than ability, and that is the ability to recognise ability.
 You Attract What You Are, Not What You Want: Become the best kind of leader and
you will attract the best kind of people. Become the kind of people you want before you can
attract the kind of people you want.
 Check for Basic Qualities: Like character, attitude, and people skills, discontent with
status quo. With all these qualities, check for a teachable spirit.
 The potential leader must be filled with the Spirit

TOPIC II: TRAINING THE LEADERS

INTRODUCTION:
We have said manpower is needed to bring a dream to reality. Leaders know that growing people is their
greatest priority. Leadership is a mindset. The quality of the organisation or group depends on the quality
of people in it. Wherever you are as a leader, you have to move from being a player to becoming a coach.
We said that soon as Jesus began his ministry, he commenced his leadership development (Matt. 4:18-22;
9:9, 10; II Tim. 2:2). The overall success of any leader is not measured by the amount of those following
the leader but by the number of people following those who are following the leader. The more you walk
yourself out of the job, the more successful you become as a leader.

THE LAW OF EMPOWERMENT – Only secure leaders give power to others

BARRIERS TO EMPOWERMENT: The people’s capacity to achieve is determined by the leader’s ability to
empower.
1. Desire for job security: The only way to make yourself indispensable is to make yourself
dispensable.
2. Resistance to change: Change is the price of progress, empowerment brings constant change
because
it encourages people to ground and innovate.
3. Lack of self-worth: Many people gain their personal value and esteem from their work or position,
a threat on either is a threat on their life

HOW TO TRAIN LEADERS?

When your recruitment process is right, then every other thing will be right, so
 Have Faith In Them: This is something that touches the heart of potential leaders. Look beyond
the obvious and expect the best from them. People always grow towards a leader’s expectation. It is
not difficult for anyone to believe or detect whether you have their interest at heart. This serve like a
morale booster.
 Invest Time In Them: This is your most valuable resource. Time spent with a potential leader is
not an expenditure it is an investment
 Motivate Them: Provide hope for them - like telling them tomorrow will be better. Use positive
reinforcement i.e. praise. Help their self-esteem. Catch them doing something right
 Equip Them: Assist them with things that will help them turn out their best results. Share your
knowledge with them (Matt. 10:1… and he gave them power). Share with the potential leaders
 Confront And Correct Them: This provides a balance to positive reinforcement. When you have
done a lot of praising, when you correct, it makes impact and it is taken seriously. We must be able
to confront and correct, but never condemn
 Set Goals For Them: Challenge them. Put some things ahead of them so that they can be amply
inspired and so that results could be well evaluated
 Reward Them: If they are doing well, reward them
 Love Them: Be out to give to them. You have got to touch their hearts before you ask for their
hands. Love them genuinely from your heart.
 Be An Example or a Model To Them: Do what you want them to do. Do what you want them to
do
 Keep On Growing: Your leadership is finished the day they catch up with you. Keep on breaking
your personal records. (I Cor 11:1; Luke 2:52)
 Be Secure: Know whom you are, be secured and fulfilled in your destiny. Never be tempted to go
into competition with the same people you are training because it is possible for some of them to
pass you by very soon. This is because every generation is designed to be an improvement over
previous ones.
If we do all these things, the result is that we will provide an environment for the best in people to come
out because man is literarily a product of his environment i.e. the shark illustration.

FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURAL TEXT:
EXODUS 18:13-23; ACTS 6:1-7; NUM 11:10-17.

TOPIC I: REASONS FOR DELEGATION AND PROCESS

INTRODUCTION:
Delegation is the process of getting things done though other people. It is the transference of responsibility
for the making of decisions or the performance of a specific task. Every leader or manager is limited with
respect to time, ability and strength. You can only be at one place at a time. When you bring in delegation
you multiply your time, ability and strength and you can even do more through delegation ( Numbers
11:10-17).

REASONS AND BENEFITS FOR DELEGATION (EXO. 18:13-23)

 It is biblical (Acts 6:1-7, Num. 11:10-17, Exodus 18).
 It enables leaders to concentrate on key areas of their work (Acts 6:2-4).
 Nobody is designed with ability to do everything at the same time (I Cor. 12:12-14).
 The abilities of potential leaders are released.
 Those to whom work is delegated develop a leadership mindset and are better able to empathise
with leadership.
 It provides successors at every level of leadership. In other words, in every position there is
someone in place to do that job (II Tim. 2:2).
 Delegation releases managers and leaders to rise to higher levels (II Tim. 2:2). There is no
promotion without delegation because you don't reach out to new things when there is no
delegation.
 Delegation is the antidote to stress and burnout. None delegation is not good. Don’t crack your
head over what only you cannot do. If you don’t delegate, you will continually manage stress and
crisis (Exo. 18:23-26). Don't give God's work as an excuse for burn out. Adopt a low noise efficiency
system without impressing others.
 There is increased efficiency and enthusiasm. You achieve maximum result with limited effort.
People are excited because of participation.

When delegating, don’t abdicate. Delegation needs to be backed up by supervision.

REQUIREMENTS FOR DELEGATION

From the leader/manager
 Trust in the delegatee – this is because people rise to the expectation of their leader. Without trust,
you will not be able to let go.
 We must always measure the risk involved in success against the results. You just have to take risks
but also trust your delegatees.
From delegatee
 Loyalty (I Sam 15:23)
 Character (trust is almost impossible without character)
 Competence or skill + the anointing (Acts 6:3).

one place at a time. When you bring in delegation you multiply your time, ability and strength and you can
even do more through delegation (Numbers 11:10-17).

PROCESS OF DELEGATION
When delegating, don’t abdicate. Delegation needs to be backed up by supervision. There is always the
need for supervision and follow up.

 PLAN. Sit down and plan your assignment on paper. Decide what to delegate (this is because there
are things you cannot delegate); match delegatees with roles (this is placing people in their areas of
strength); do job description (for each role, list out what each person is supposed to do); plan
training to lift people's competence level.

 DELEGATE. Give out the job while you communicate your expectations

 TRAIN. Do “before the job” trainings and while “on the job” training

 MOTIVATE. Encourage them because they will encounter challenges on the job

 EVALUATE. Supervision (this is a regular check-ups to follow up and through); correct mistakes to
avert further mistakes and recognize progress (when things are done right). Praise in the public to
motivate others.

CONSEQUENCES OF LACK OF DELEGATION (EXO. 18:18)

 The manager/leader wears out spiritually, emotionally and physically. Life can be sweet if
we are sensitive to our capacities as leaders. Negative vibes comes when we are emotionally low, we
become snappy and irritable.
 The people around the manager/leader also wear out. There is the tendency to transfer your
irritability and aggression to others.
 People’s potentials are frustrated and there is high turnover (turnover is the rate at which
people leave a group or organization).
 The group or ministry or organization eventually grinds to a halt. Eventually, the person
leading and the person being lead will break down.

I would rather set ten men to work than do the work of ten men (D L Moody)!

E NTREPRENEURSHIP - I
FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURAL TEXT:
Habakkuk 2:2-3

TOPIC I: WHY YOU SHOULD BE AN ENTREPRENUER AND THE STEPS TO START-UP

INTRODUCTION:
Entrepreneurship is about bringing into existence, something that was not in existence before in order to
meet the needs of people. God is an entrepreneur. The key to turning both our personal and national
economy around is through creating products and services.

WHY YOU SHOULD BE AN ENTREPRENEUR:

1. It is the Fastest Way to Make Money When It Works:
According to statistics, two-thirds of American millionaires are entrepreneurs. You receive not only
salary but all the others perk that comes with being the owner and if you decide to sell later, you
make a lot more money.
2. You Create Products and Services:
By creating products and services you help meet people’s need as well as make money in the
process.
3. You Create Jobs:
Instead of looking for a job, you become an employer of labor.
4. You Are In Control Of Your Time:
You make the rules, create your own hours, work from wherever you want and choose who you want
to work with.
5. You Spend Less On Tax:
As a business owner you even earn money, spend and pay tax on the rest.
6. Operating A Profitable Business In The Long Term Is Less Risky Than Being An Employee:
In the event of any downward economic turn, the business owner will not be downsized. Business
owners can have multiple streams of income from different customers. As an employee, you only
have one stream of income and therefore are bearing more risk.

QUALITIES OF AN ENTREPRENEUR:
An entrepreneur must possess certain qualities for him to succeed as one. They are Vision, Innovation,
Passion, Flexibility, Persistence, Communication, Leadership, Focus, Street Sense, Action-
Oriented, Gut Feelings.

STEPS TO START UP
A business without a vision is directionless but a vision without a plan is only a hope. A vision needs a plan
to make it come alive, to make it a reality.

STEP 1: FIND A BUSINESS TO START.

Identify people’s needs. Identify money making activities around your value or interests. Improve
on existing products and services.

STEP 2: RESEARCH AND EVALUATE YOUR IDEA

Many people have great business ideas, but their businesses flounder in marketplace because
there really isn’t an audience for their product or service.
Ask yourself these questions;
 What problem does my product or service solve?
 Who will buy my product or service?
 Why will they buy it?
 Where will they buy it- Specialty shops, department stores, mail order, online etc?
 What do I need to charge to make a healthy profit and will people actually pay that
amount?
 What products or service will mine be competing with?

STEP 3: CALCULATE YOUR COSTS

It is critical to determine how much cash you’ll need to open and operate your business before
you start. To keep your business running smoothly in its start-up phase, you’ll need enough

A L E A D E R S H I P D E V E L O P M E N T S C H O O L
… developing exceptional leaders
capital cover to cover all expenses until you reach the break-even point. Create a checklist of
expenditures.

STEP 4: WRITE YOUR BUSINESS PLAN:

Your chances for success are increased by building your business on paper first. It is a working
document that helps you prepare for opportunities as well as difficulty not just one used to
secure loan. It’s your road-map.
Content:
 Cover and Title page.
 Your vision
 Assumptions (Market Survey)
 Source Products/Raw Materials
 Projections for sales and profits.

STEP 5: IDENTIFY SOURCES OF FINANCING:

Figuring out where the money to start will come from is the next step in the process of actualizing
your dream.
Possible Sources
 Savings
 Friends and Relations
 Assets
 Bank
 Suppliers

STEP 6: DO YOU START UP PAPER WORK:

One of the most important decisions you make when starting
1. A business is the legal structure you select for your company.
 Sole proprietorship.
 Partnership.
 Limited Liability.
2. Name your company and register with Corporate Affairs Commission (C.A.C)

STEP 7: ADVERTISE:
Without advertising, no one will know your business exists and if customers don’t know you’re
there, you won’t make sales.
STEP 8: START:
Nothing moves until you move

TOPIC II: SUCCESSFUL SELLING

INTRODUCTION:
One of the most important skills that an entrepreneur must develop is selling because ultimately, it is sales
that drive everything. Your ability to persuade, convince, and influence other people to patronize your
business will determine the success of your company in the long run.

IMPORTANCE OF SELLING
1. Everybody Is Into The Business Of Selling: one way or the other, everybody is into the business
of selling. Whether ourselves, ideas, products or services, values, attitudes and behaviors etc.
2. Selling Skills Are Fundamental: Those who can persuade, convince and influence other people
always stand a better chance than those who cannot
3. Sales Determines The Number Of Goods Produced: It is sales that drive production. It is of no
use producing anything if you are not selling. The more the sales the higher the volume of
production
4. Sales Drive Salaries And Wages: if sales go down it will impact on the revenue of the business
hence the salaries and wages of workers
5. It Is Sales That Drive The Economy Of A Country
6. Without Sales There Would Not Be Any Reasonable Taxes
7. Sales Provide Dividends For Shareholders

PRINCIPLES OF SELLING

1. Goods Are Sold Not Bought: However good your product or service is, customers will not come
falling over themselves to buy from you. You have to bring it to their attention.
2. Know Your Product: You cannot sell products or services that you do not understand the nitty-
gritty of.
3. Ask People To Buy: there are people who have something to offer and they talk about it with their
customers but never hit the nail on the head and ask them to buy.
4. 80% Of Sales Are Made After The Fifth Call: Statistically proven that 80% of all sales are made
after the fifth time of attempting to sell to the same person or company
5. 80% Of Sales Are Made By 20% Of The Sales Force: The Paretto principle – the 80/20 principle
– also applies to selling. Shoot for the top 20%
6. Be Clear About The Need That You Want To Meet: you must be able to specifically identify the
need that is to be met by your product or service
7. See Yourself as a Problem Solver: when you see yourself as a problem solver then your product
or services moves from being a means of survival to being a crusade.
8. Love Your Customers: If you don’t love people you don’t have to be in business. You must be out
to add value to people’s lives. People don’t buy products and services; they generally buy the people
that sell the products or services.
9. Position Your Product or Service: there are too many things contending for the attention of
those who need your goods. It is your responsibility to be proactive and creative in positioning your
products in the mind of your customers

FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURAL TEXT:
ACTS 1:8, I COR 12:1-11; JOHN 14:16-18.

TOPIC I: UNDERSTANDING THE SUPERNATURAL

INTRODUCTION:
The Holy Spirit is our connection to the spiritual world. The Holy Spirit has come to influence our lives. You
cannot talk about the spiritual world without talking about the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4, 5). The Holy Spirit
bridges the gap between the natural and the supernatural. You cannot represent God without the Holy
Spirit because God is a Spirit and he is in the realm of the Spirit (Acts 1:8; Acts 10:38; John 14:16-18).
When the Holy Spirit is with us then the Father is with us, and even the Son is with us. Miracles cannot be
produced by the flesh that is why walking with the Holy Spirit is a prerequisite to operate the spiritual (John
3:6). He is not water, fire or a dove. The Holy Spirit is a person. He has all of the attributes of a person.
He has intellect, will and emotion. Therefore what we encourage is a personal relationship with the Holy
Spirit. When Christ was around, he was a personification of the supernatural. The Holy Spirit is to us all
that Jesus is. The human spirit needs the Holy Spirit to function effectively in the natural realm (Job 32:8).
The supernatural is the natural state of the believer, is the heritage of all saint, it is not a gift is a status.
The supernatural is what distinguishes Christians and unbelievers.

GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (I COR. 12:1-11)

The Nine (9) gifts have been classified into three (3) segments:

(1) THE REVELATION GIFTS

 THE WORD OF WISDOM: Knowing by revelation the mind, plan or strategy of God concerning a
particular person or situation. Knowing what to do about a situation supernaturally.
 THE WORD OF KNOWLEDGE: Knowing by revelation facts about the present or the past.
 DISCERNING OF SPIRITS: Knowing by revelation whether the spirit in operation is divinely, humanly or
demonically sourced. Sometimes you see things by revelation too, helps you track accurately the
spirit in operation in a particular situation and deal with the spirit (Luke 13:10-17).

(2) POWER GIFTS – Where raw energy of God flows from the supernatural realm into the physical.
 GIFT OF FAITH: Makes us to have unusual confidence that God will act in a specific situation that
situation that is impossible.
 WORKING OF MIRACLES: The Holy Spirit helps us to carry out acts contrary to natural laws; you carry
out miracles offer with power beyond human capacity. For example, turning water into wine John 2,
feeding a crowd of from five loaves and two fish Luke 9.
 GIFTS OF HEALING: The Holy Spirit enables us to administer healing spiritually, emotionally, and
physically.

(3) GIFTS OF UTTERANCE – These are gifts that say something.

 PROPHECY: We can communicate a message from God to a person or people. It is simply to hear
from God and say what you hear.
 DIVERSE KINDS OF TONGUES: Enables us to communicate a message from God in a language we
don’t understand.
 INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES: Enables us to know the meaning of a message delivered in diverse
tongues.

TOPIC II: RELEASING THE SUPERNATURAL

INTRODUCTION:
We have said that the Holy Spirit is our connection to the spiritual world. The Holy Spirit bridges the gap
between the natural and the supernatural. Miracles cannot be produced by the flesh, that is why walking
with the Holy Spirit is a prerequisite to operate the spiritual (John 3:6). When Christ was around, he was a
personification of the supernatural. The Holy Spirit is to us all that Jesus is. The human spirit needs the
Holy Spirit to function effectively in the natural realm (Job 32:8)

RELEASING THE SUPERNATURAL (JN. 15:1-8)

It is what flows from the Holy Spirit to us that command the manifestation of the supernatural. It is vital
that we understand that the supernatural should be communicating to us. When we get a supernatural
instruction, we must act accordingly. If there is no communication from the supernatural, there can’t be
any manifestation (Jn. 5:19, 20, 30). When there is no hearing and seeing, then there is no supernatural
manifestation.

KEYS TO RELEASING THE SUPERNATURAL

 RIGHTEOUSNESS (Heb. 1:8, 9) – This is right standing with God and that is what guarantees the
operation of the supernatural (b). If righteousness is in place, divine flow will be in place (Hab.
1:13; Eccl 9:8; Prov 11:4).
 LOVE (I Jn. 4:7-11, 8; I Jn. 2:9-11) – If God is love, then the Holy Spirit is love. No love, no
supernatural. Without love, you can’t do ministry. There will be no anointing operating in your life.
 FELLOWSHIP (Heb. 12:22-24; 10:25; Psalm 133:1-3; Matt 18:20; Amos 3:3) – “… where two
or three are gathered …” You will get a lift when you fellowship with others.
 GIVING (Gen. 14:14; Heb. 7:1-7; Mal. 3:10; Prov 11:24-25) - When you give or when you pay
tithe, expect God to talk to you. Giving commands the attention of God and the flow of the
supernatural. You can open your spiritual eyes and ears by giving.
 FASTING - (Acts 13:1-3; 27:9-38).
 PRAISE - Praise provides inspiration and inspiration is the key that unlocks revelations (Ps. 22:3;
34:1, Jn. 6 & 11).
 SOUL-WINNING (Mk. 16:15-20; Dan. 12:3; Matt 28:18-20).
 PRAYER (Jer. 33:3) – There are two types the word prayer and praying in the spirit and it must be a
daily thing.
 THE WORD (Ps. 107:20, Josh. 1:8, Prov. 30:5) - The Holy Spirit follows the Word of God.
Studying and mediating in the word. This too must be a daily thing (Ps. 107:20; Joshua 1:8). Deep
manifestation is a function of depth.
 RECOGNISE AND HONOURING THE HOLY SPIRIT (Jam. 4:2): Learn to practice to listen
expectantly and continually to the Holy Spirit.

TOPIC III: THE ANNOINTING

INTRODUCTION:
We have said that the Holy Spirit is our connection to the spiritual world. The Holy Spirit bridges the gap
between the natural and the supernatural. Miracles cannot be produced by the flesh that is why walking
with the Holy Spirit is a prerequisite to operate the spiritual (John 3:6). When Christ was around, he was a
personification of the supernatural. The Holy Spirit is to us all that Jesus is. The human spirit needs the
Holy Spirit to function effectively in the natural realm (Job 32:8)

THE ANOINTING
The anointing is the power of the Holy Spirit in operation (Isa. 10:27, Acts10:28) It is defined the
manifestation of God’s power as a result of the presence of the Holy Spirit. Wherever God’s power is
available, it is because that place or thing is anointed and the Holy Spirit is present. It can also be defined
as (Isa. 10:27) Anointing is also an equipment God utilizes to destroy yokes and burden. This is the burden-
removing, yoke-destroying, power of God.

THE PURPOSE OF THE ANOINTING (ISA. 61:1 – 3)

 Healing of the emotions – Healing for the broken hearted, pain hurts, abuse, emotional, mal
adjustment (not just physical body). People that can’t set themselves free from buttress to release
the people.
 Healing of the mind – Through the mind, we cultivate habit a place where victory is decided or lost.
 Healing of the spirit – By your spirit you relate with the supernatural realm.
 Healing of the body – The anointing brings healing of the physical body, sickness of the body.
 Redemption from poverty – Good news to the poor is not just to go to heaven but the yoke of
poverty will also be destroyed.
TRANSFERENCE OF THE ANOINTING (I TIM. 4:14)
 Transfer from a minister who is alive (Matt. 10:1).
 Transfer at the point of exit of a minister (Deut. 34:9 i.e. Moses/Joshua & II Kings 2 Elijah/Elisha). It
can either reduce or increase at the point of transference. Your desire at the point of transference
will determine the extent of the increase or decrease of the anointing transferred to you (Elijah and
Elisha; Solomon and Rehoboam). Everything depends on the receiver. We must deal with the issues
of character, lifestyle and attitude when it comes to transference of the anointing. There must be the
passionate desire and then the attitude of the heart. So we must live right before God –
righteousness and not in pride, lust and covetousness.
MARKETPLACE ANIONTING: is the supernatural endowment of divine ability sovereignty given by God to
achieve God’s glorifying feats in the secular arena of life. This anointing causes God’s influence to be
massively feet beyond the four walls of the church. Five fold ministries operate with this anointing but God
has not reserved the anointing for those in this fold only.

CATEGORIES OF MARKETPLACE ANOINTING
In Administration: (Gen. 41:34 – 41), Joseph storage of food for one year of famine. He managed
effectively the economic resource of the most powerful nation of his time.
 Administer people and resources in outstanding manner
 Having divine ability to manage and run an organisation excellently
 You direct an establishment effectively

In Politics: (Dan. 2:48) Daniel was a prophet who had dreams and revelations from God and also he was a
politician. He served in the cabinet of various regimes in the greatest super power nation of his time
(Babylon) he also was put in charge of running of the affair of the state.
 We need more Christians to respond to the anointing for politics. (Amos 29:2)
 If we want to be see good governance in our nation
In Business: Not everybody must be a pastor; there is also a special calling which is in the business sector.
This is a marketplace that causes a child of God to move into the filed of trade and commerce and do
exploit for the kingdom. Men and women who have peculiar anointing to run large and expensive business
concern thereby generating mega-wealth for the sole purpose of financing the reaping and conserving of
the end-time harvest of souls.
 Helps you too have inspired ideas
 People with this anointing will be enabled by God to come up with creative solution to very difficult
and obstinate problems in the market place, leading to their influence and affluence.
 You become a genius due to the fact that you will prove and provide worthy inventions, because you
will be anointed with divine wisdom.
Each of these categories of marketplace anointing operate supernaturally in a natural terrain expect the gift
flows through you. They manifest in certain biblical ways that this generation hasn’t seen yet.

TOPIC I: UNDERSTANDING MARRIAGE & CHOOSING A MARRIAGE PARTNER

INTRODUCTION

Marriage is the union between a man and a woman. This union is based on covenant relationship between a
man and woman through which they both seek to give and receive satisfaction and fulfillment of their
healthy needs, desires and expectations. It is also the legal union between a mature man and a mature
woman.
Success in marriage is based on principles such as: commitment, obedience to God’s word, selflessness,
understanding of each other i.e. man understanding the woman and vice versa.
For the unmarried, the ideal husband or wife of your dreams is already married. The picture that you are
carrying around is the picture of a finished product. A successful choice depends on your ability to recognize
potential. This does not depend on your physical eyes but your inner eyes. You must have a vision of a
preferable future (Gen.2:18). Don’t frustrate yourself by measuring your prospects with those who are
already married (Isa. 48:17).

HOW TO GO ABOUT CHOOSING A MARRIAGE PARTNER - USEFUL TIPS

 Pray – this is what helps the operation of the inner eyes (Jer. 33:3; Eph. 1:16).
 Focus On Character – integrity is very important. It is better to marry for integrity than for
reputation. Integrity is the person that you are in private. Reputation is the person that you are in
public. We must check for attitude. A mature person has a positive attitude and the immature person
has a negative attitude. To rap everything up check for the fruit of the spirit. They are Love, Joy,
Peace, Longsuffering (patience); Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Temperance (self-control).
The reason why we must operate the fruits of the spirit in marriage is because nobody is better than
the other. One person’s assignment is just different from the others. What we have in marriage are
changing roles.
 Put More Priority On Convictions Than On Feelings. Follow the voice of the spirit. After you are
sure of what the Holy Spirit said to you about it, then you can fall in love (Gen.2:23; Rom.8:14,16).
 Relate With People Around You. Whatever god will give will likely be around you (Prov.18:24;
Gen.24:12-14, 17:7)
 When Convinced, Get Confirmation From Pastors And Friends. Get other people to pray along
with you. “……in the multitude of counselors, there is safety” (Prov.11:14).
 There Should Be a Source of Income for the Family (Prov.24:27; Gen.2:15-18). God gave Adam
work to do first before He gave him a wife to marry.
 Prepare to Make Adjustments Where There Are Significant Differences in Age, educational
qualification, and status or ethnic origin. Thinking at different levels calls for adjustment in marriage.

REASONS FOR MARRIAGE
 For companionship. We are created for connection not isolation (Gen.2:18)
 For completion. Synergy (Eccl.4:9-12). Sometimes opposite attract to complement one another.
 For coition. Sexual fulfillment.
 For comfort (Gen.24:67)

WRONG REASONS FOR MARRIAGE

 To get back at their parents or guardians.
 Negative self-image. Marriage will not solve this problem but will only amplify it.
 To solve spouse’s problems. That is, marrying out of sympathy. You can’t play god in anybody’s life.
 Fear of hurting a friend due to emotional attachment.
 Fear of old age.
 Fear from domination. They marry someone they are not really interested in marrying.
 Because of pregnancy or premarital sex.
 To cure loneliness.
 Marriage on rebound.
 Physical attraction.

TOPIC II: SEVEN REVELATIONS ABOUT MEN

INTRODUCTION
As with all of us, the inner life of a man is a package. With these elements melded and wrapped up inside,
whether you are relating to a husband, boyfriend, or son, it is impossible to understand one part of his inner
life in isolation. A survey was carried out and these following truths were discovered:

What This Means in Practice

1. Men Need Respect - Men would rather feel unloved than inadequate and disrespected.

2. Men Are Insecure - Despite their “in control” exterior, men often feel like impostors and are
insecure that their inadequacies will be discovered.

3. Men Are Providers - Even if you personally made enough income to support the family’s lifestyle, it
would make no difference to the mental burden he feels to provide.

4. Men Want More Sex - Your sexual desire for your husband profoundly affects his sense of well-
being and confidence in all areas of his life.

5. Men Are Visual - Even happily married men struggle with being pulled toward live and recollected
images of other women.

6. Men Are Unromantic - Actually, most men enjoy romance (sometimes in different ways) and want
to romantic – but hesitate because they doubt they can succeed.

7. Men Care About Appearance - You don’t need to be a size 3, but your man does need to see you
making the effort to take care of yourself and he will take on significant cost or inconvenience in
order to support you.

TOPIC 111: SEVEN REVELATIONS ABOUT WOMEN

1. Need to be loved - Women want a man to love them completely, passionately, and romantically.
Ephe.5:25

2. Affection - Women want nonsexual affection – It is very important to show affection to a woman in
marriage.

3. Need to be understood - Women want a man who can truly understand that women are divinely
different – and that they aren’t going to change – we have no business changing that which God has
ordained. But we must learn to adapt to these differences.

4. Women strive on communication - Women want open communication – she must be allowed to
reveal to her husband as much information about herself. Don’t switch off on her, if you are tired tell
her.

5. Women need emotional intimacy - connect with her emotionally; be sensitive to the things that
are important to her.

6. Women want spiritual intimacy - there is need for her to bond spiritually with her husband so
they can have an unbreakable union spiritually.

7. Women want mutual submission. – It is not a crime to submit to your wife where her strength is
concerned. Appreciating her ideas and advice when she is there on any matter. Also, assisting her in
the home is very important and good.

TOPIC I: THE CHURCH GROWTH CONCEPT

INTRODUCTION
If you are not too large for the place you occupy, then you are too small for it (James Garfield). Your
external success must not outgrow your internal status. The word church is from the Greek word
“Ecclesia” which means, “called out” ones. The Universal or Catholic Church consists of all born again
Christians in the world. The Local Church is the smaller congregation of saints. The Church Building is the
structure or the building facility, which is usually called a church.
Donald Gavran is known as the father of church growth movement. He is the one who first used the word
“Church Growth”. If a church is not growing, it is dying. This is because it is a living organism. There are
various dimensions to growth: (i) Growth in the number of churches. It is the multiplication of churches and
not proliferation of churches as generally acclaimed. The most effective form of world evangelism is church
planting. (ii) Growth of individual assemblies.

TYPES OF GROWTH
There is growth in quantity and growth is quality. Some call it external and internal growth.
 Conversion Growth: Growth by the salvation of unbelievers.
 Transfer Growth: Growth by the movement of Christians from one church to the other.
 Biological Growth: Growth by the delivering of babies by the church members.
Usually in a growing church, you should have all three, but it is best to have conversion growth. It must be
well targeted because it results in the Universal Church expansion.

ADVANTAGES OF CHURCH GROWTH

 The Kingdom of God is populated while the kingdom of darkness is depleted.
 It increases the level of influence on the church in the society. Large churches usually have more
influence on the society than small churches. It is designed by God to be visible and to have a voice
(Matt. 5:14-16)
 It provides a large workforce which when trained takes some weight off the leadership. The Pastor
of a small church has a tendency to be more stressed than the Pastor of a big church. This is
because delegation is possible in the larger churches.
 There is a wider spectrum of professional skills available through church members. Big Churches will
attract more professionals than small churches (The principle of ETHNOS).

TOPIC II: RESPONSIBILITY FOR GROWTH

INTRODUCTION
We have said that the word church is from the Greek word “Ecclesia” which means, “called out” ones.
Donald Gavran is the father of church growth movement who was first used the word “Church Growth”. If a
church is not growing, it is dying because the Church is a living organism.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR GROWTH

The Pastor and church members share responsibility for growth. Prof. Peter Wagner a church growth expert
believes that the responsibility for the growth of a church is 50/50% between church members and pastors.
But he was proved wrong by the Korean pastors who had larger churches that it was 51% Pastors & 49%
members, because of the emphasis on leadership.

PASTOR’S RESPONSIBILITY
 Must be a strong leader, led by the Holy Spirit. They must love and establish relationship with
people. They must be visionaries with courage, not men pleasers but must be ready to confront
issues as it comes.
 Must relinquish ministry to church members. Must deal with every form of insecurity and must
not do the work of the ministry by himself or herself alone (Acts 6:1-4)
 Must grow personally. The church must not outgrow the pastor. When you grow the pastor, you
grow the church. Every Church grows in the pastor's heart. The pastor must change in attitude (i.e.
how he thinks and how he feels). There are mindsets that a pastor must let go off in order to grow.
The pastor must have vision (i.e. he must be a dreamer). He must have a good self-esteem (i.e.
something must happen inside the pastor because he has to feel it before he becomes it). He can’t
afford to think negatively, he must constantly confess positively.
 Must have vision for a large church. What you see today is what you get tomorrow (Gen.
13:14, 15; Prov 23:7).
 Must feed the sheep. THE TOOL IS THE WORD - Train, Lead, Instruct, Guide, Nourish and Build.
Approach the ministry with a business attitude because your livelihood is tied to it. (Prov. 27:23 -
27; Jn. 21:15-17).

MEMBER’S RESPONSIBILITY
 Must relinquish leadership to the pastors. There is no need for manipulation, nagging, backstabbing.
Trust is required on the part of the members. There is only one head for the body.
 Must take on responsibility for ministry. It is the responsibility of the shepherd to feed the sheep
while it is the sheep who gives birth to sheep. (Eph. 4:11-13)
 Must have the vision for a large church. Must see the advantages and benefits of a large Church, the
opportunities accrued.
 Must learn to be good sheep (Heb. 13:17).

TOPIC III: BUILDING A HEALTHY ORGANISATION

INTRODUCTION
We have said that the word church is from the Greek word “Ecclesia” which means, "called out”
ones. If a church is not growing, it is dying because the Church is a living organism.

BUILDING A HEALTHY CHURCH

It is our responsibility to maintain health; it is God’s responsibility to make the church grow ( I Cor. 3:6; Mk.
4:26 – 29). Without health, there can't be growth. In the absence of sickness, things created by God grow
naturally.
1. Focus on achieving excellence in the Five (5) purposes of the Universal Church – (i) Evangelism (ii)
Fellowship (iii) Worship (iv) Discipleship (v) Ministry. A church is sick if it not winning souls.
2. Converge the achievement of the Five (5) purposes and all activities into the achievement of the
unique purpose of the local church (Prov. 19:21; 29:18).
3. Keep away from church growth disease:
 Ethnic allegiance. Don't address the need of one ethnic group. We should try to build multi-ethnic
groups based organisation (one word for this disease is “Ethnikitis”).
 Inability to recognise people’s need (People-blindness).
 Strong fellowship to the exclusion of outsiders (koinonitis).
 When the community grows old (Ghost Town Disease).
 Inadequate space. This is when your auditorium is 80% full, growth slows down drastically
(Sociological Strangulation).
 Lack of spiritual development (i.e. if church members are not growing spiritually because there is
nothing new coming to them).
 Lack of zeal by a new generation (St. John’s Syndrome – Rev. 2:4).
 Building too soon.
 Branching too soon.
 Low level of the power of the Holy Spirit (Hypopneumia).

CHURCH GROWTH BOOSTERS

 Revival. Make room for the Holy Spirit. Let him take the centre stage. He is the Lord of the harvest
(Matt. 9:38). It is actually the Holy Spirit that makes the church to grow. He is a crowd-puller
(Acts. 2:47). The Lord in this scripture refers to the Holy Spirit. (i) Prayer is the key to revival. (ii)
Fellowship with the Holy Spirit. (iii) Praise God - an attitude of gratitude is necessary. (iv) Take
authority over the forces of darkness (Matt. 16:18,19). (v) Be persistent (Lk. 18:1; 11:3-8, 13).
 Training (Eph. 4:12; Acts 20:35). Turn your insights into a curriculum for training; this will solve
many problems. There must be definite purposeful training.
 Build cell system. There is a divine pattern for growth and it is the division and multiplication of
cells.
 Planning. This helps you to think ahead. It will make growth possible for most churches ( Lk.
19:13; 14:28-30; Prov 24:3-4). Do business or make money till I come. Plan for profitability.
 Media. Use the media to position your church (by “position” we mean; how are you perceived by
the community?). (i) People in the community must know you are there. (ii) Let them know what you
are there for (KEYWORD – Advertise) (Matt. 13:15). People’s lives move in the direction of what
they see and hear consistently. Until you enter people’s minds, you have not yet entered their lives.
Make sure you are led by the Holy Spirit before you do a TV or radio programme and when you do it,
do it properly.

PSALM 8:1; II PETER 1:17

TOPIC I: THE NATURE OF EXCELLENCE

INTRODUCTION:
Excellence is the possession of good quality in an unusual degree. The 21 st century church must come to
terms with the fact that success in ministry will not be realizable with mediocrity. Success in ministry,
business or in any remarkable organization will not be possible with mediocrity. Our God is a God of
excellence (Ps. 8:1; Isa. 12:5). God’s glory is excellent (II Pet. 1:17). All the deeds of God are excellent
and it is recorded everywhere (Gen. 1:31). As His ambassadors, we must represent Him accurately before
the world. We will completely misrepresent him if what we do is not excellent. Every church and every
ministry is an Embassy of Heaven here on earth. So if we take excellence out, it will be a misrepresentation
of all that God is and all that he stands for. Excellence is doing things right. But before we consider how to
do it right, let’s ensure we are doing the right thing. Excellence in the wrong thing still spells failure.

THE NATURE OF EXCELLENCE - DAN. 6: 3-4; JOB 32:8

The state of your attitude affects your feelings towards things. One major difference between growing and
non-growing organization is attitude. It has been discovered that attitude and NOT aptitude determines
your altitude in life. We must interpret things from God's perspective and develop God's attitude and
perspectives towards things. We must rid our organization of mediocrity mentality, because attitude is
everything (Prov. 23:7)

MINDSETS TO DEAL WITH

1. You have to choose between quality and quantity. The interesting thing is that you get more quality
out of quantity. The more quality you have, the more quantity you attract. This is because the more
you do things better, the more you will be patronized.
2. Large churches are usually shallow in the spirituality of their members. Generally, some pastors of
small churches are frustrated having exhausted all the church growth principles but the truth is that
committed members of large churches have experienced change in their lives and they keep
reproducing themselves in others that results in the growth of the church
3. There is only one specific factor that has aided the growth of a large organization
4. You have to compromise your service to grow a very large organization (John 8:32). The truth is
that the gospel is the good news; we should not develop a critical and judgmental attitude in our
messages (Luke 4:18).
5. You must have a large amount of money before you can achieve excellence. Rather, you need
excellence to attract a large amount of money. If you will improve on the quality of what you are
doing, you will get more patronage, which in turn translates into more money. Don’t ask, ‘what will
this cost us?" But, "what will it cost us if we don’t do it?" Most people ask, “Can I afford to do it?”
Instead, we should ask, “Can I afford not to do it?”

WHY EXCELLENCE IS A MUST!

Excellence is not a matter of choice but of a necessity and must if we will achieve an everlasting success in
life. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Excellence. The Holy Spirit helps us to see things and interpret things
from God's perspective. He helps us to develop God's attitude and perspectives towards things. . We must
rid our ministries of mediocrity mentality, because attitude is everything (Prov. 23:7)

1. God deserves the best because He invested His best in us (John 3:16; I John 4:4-10).
2. As His ambassadors, we must not misrepresent Him. The church is His local franchise. (Gen. 1:31).
3. Things are improving around us every day. A ministry that is outdated in its methods cannot be
relevant to contemporary world (Matt. 28:19, 20). The message is still the same (principle).
4. Excellence motivates especially in an underdeveloped environment as ours. Ministries should be the
place of inspiration. (I Cor 11:1)
5. Striving for excellence shows people that we are serious about our assignment, i.e. what we are
doing and encourages them to want to be part of it. No matter how small a thing looks, if you have
invested quality thoughts in it, people tend to appreciate it and identified with it.

A L E A D E R S H I P D E V E L O P M E N T S C H O O L

6. Like begets like. Excellence attracts good quality human, financial and material resources to the

7. Life is progressive, not stagnant. We have to jog to maintain our position. If we remain stagnant, we
risk failure. There is no pride in failure. We must appreciate excellence wherever it is found.
Excellence attracts. We must strive for it. This is one of the key to outstanding success in life.
(Daniel 6:3; Gen. 41:38-39)

TOPIC II: CHARACTERISTICS OF AN EXCELLENCE-ORIENTED ORGANIZATION

INTRODUCTION:
We have said that excellence is the possession of good quality in an unusual degree. Success in ministry,
business or in any remarkable organization will not be possible with mediocrity. Excellence in the wrong
thing still spells failure. We cannot just be efficient for efficiency’s sake. We must also be effective. The
excellence-oriented organization seeks to continually improve quality in its operations, its events and its facilities.

KEY AREAS OF ATTENTION

I. OPERATIONS - Go for excellence in the following areas:
 Excellence in communication (advert materials, products, preaching, media outreach etc.) (Mark
6:2; 9:37b; Luke 4:32; Mark 12:35-37; Luke 5:1)
 Excellence in people-care (excellence customer care) (Matt. 14:14-16; Acts 4:32-37). When a
service is good, one person tells a maximum of Five (5) people. But when the services are bad, one
person tells twenty (20) people. Now only 4% comes back to complain but the remaining 96% speak
with their feet.
 Reward good Performance
 Excellence in training (Matt. 28:18; Acts 4:13).
 Excellence in worship (Ps. 16:11; 17:15; 29:1-2; Heb 4:16). This is the number one assignment
of every believer. You must be able to access the presence of God easily

II. EVENTS
 Only maintain services, programs, department and ministries that are necessary. Don't ride a dead
horse. Don't whip a dead horse i.e. midweek service, all nights, and anniversary conventions. etc.
 Make it as easy as possible for people to attend. Make the address conspicuous. Carefully select
service times, providing maps or directional signs on your advertorial. Have symbols/visual identity
 Improve on the pace and flow of the events and seek to make them as brief as possible (minimize
internal announcements, the transitional period during services. It is not in it's longevity but in His
presence)
 Improve the quality of sound and music
 Make visitors comfortable and to feel loved (special parking, greeters, warm welcome, information
desk, music before and after service). Generally, treat people with care
 Create an atmosphere of celebration, expectation, affirmation and liberation
 Review services and programme periodically. Take time to ask, how are we doing? Periodic survey
should also be encouraged from the people, so that you can serve them better
 Build a proper time management culture

III. FACILITIES
God is interested in our facilities, just like He is also interested in our bodies and not only our spirits and
souls (I Cor. 6:19, 20). Ministry facilities reveal what we value and reflect our self-image. Therefore,
the excellence-oriented ministry strives for excellence in the following areas:
 The painting of the facilities and landscaping of the environment. Keep the plants and grasses well
trimmed and all the directional signs freshly painted
 The environment is well lit, is has comfortable seating arrangements and the temperature is well
managed (that is cooling system)
 The rest rooms are clean. Visitors may forget the sermon but not the memory of a foul-smelling
restroom.
 The nurseries should be kept clean and safe for toddlers and children.
 The appearance of staff and leaders say a lot about the church’s attitude to excellence ( II Chron
9:4).
 The excellence-oriented ministry invests their money in what people can see. Human beings are
generally motivated and affected by what they see
CONCLUSION:
Excellence is more of a process than a product, a journey, not a destination. We should not make
excellence a one-time goal and improvement in quality a culture at all levels. Excellence will be a by-
product as time goes on. The key is never to stop learning. When you stop learning, you stop growing.

Excellence should not be a one-time thing. It must be upgraded from time to time. The church in the 21 st
century will set the pace for the world in the nearest future to come.

TOPIC I: THE CONCEPT OF HEALTH MANAGEMENT
INTRODUCTION
What is Health?
A State of Physical Psychological, Emotional and Mental Wellbeing
If you are not healthy, you are not likely to make much progress in whatever cause you are involved in. Ill
health will not
allow you to exert yourself mentally and physically. GOD WANTS YOU HEALTHY (III Jn. 2) Healing and
health are
God’s perfect will for mankind. This is an expression of God’s heart. Health and healing are different. Health
is being well
without any form of sickness. Healing is being restored to health from sickness (Exo. 15:26; Ps. 105:37;
Isa.33:24). Our body is an amazing creation, created by God, remarkable work of art, packaged with
billions of parts blessed
with feelings and emotions.
The Causes & Cure of Ill health
Causes Cure
 Ignorance - Relevant Information
 Uncleanliness - Personal Hygiene
 Unhealthy - Eating Eat to Live
 Overwork - Rest
 Sedentary - Lifestyle Exercise
 Toxic Build Up - Win The Toxic War
 Stress build up - Stress Management
 Contravening Spiritual Principles- Trust & Obey

WHY WE FALL SICK?

The root of sickness is sin. The good news is that God has solved the sin problem and if God has done that,
the sickness problem has also been solved. The same power that forgives sin is the same power that heals
the sick because there is a connection between sin and sickness. It is easier to restore a sick body to health
than to restore a sick or a sin-filled spirit to health (Acts 10:38; Heb 13:8).

 SIN - Disobedience. When we talk about sin for a Christian, we specifically talk about how we
disobey and disobedience guarantees sickness (Deut. 28:15; Prov 28:13). The various kinds of sin
that people find themselves are; (a) Sexual Sin – (Prov. 5:8-11); In I Cor. 6, it is known as sin
against the body (b) Relational Sin – Sins that come from our relationships e.g. unforgiveness,
hatred, envy, slander, (c) Unforgiveness – When you hold someone down for their sins and when
you do that God holds you down to your sins; and when God does that you are qualified for sickness
(Isaiah 1:19; Job 36:11; Prov. 9:12).
 UNBELIEF - (Mk. 6:5) When God forgives you, he heals you (Ps. 103:1-3; Psalm 32:1-3).
 ROBBING GOD - In tithes and Offerings (Mal. 3:8 – 10; Zech. 5:4).
 BREAKING COVENANT RELATIONSHIPS - (a) Marriage (Mal. 2:14-16; I Pet. 3:7), (b)
Parents (Eph. 6:1-4, (c) Church Members and Leadership (I Cor. 11:11:17-22, 27-34). Your
relationship with other people will affect your relationship with God (I Jn. 4:20; I John 2:9-11). Our
attitude speaks a lot (II Kings 5:20, 25-27; Acts: 1-10). Anything that involves two of us has God
in between because our lives are presented as a threefold cord (Romans 12:9-21).
 BREAKING THE LAW OF REST THROUGH IGNORANCE (Hosea 4:6) - 99% of business die before
their tenth Year partly because of the health of their owners.
 INGRATITUDE/MURMURING – Emotional Imbalance
 BITTERNESS – Parents, Spouse, Boss or Colleagues. Prevention is better than cure; most sicknesses
are self-inflicted by wilful, destructive habits and also by ignorance. God wants you to live more
abundantly, disease free and in maximum health.

TOPIC II: BIBLE SENSE FOR LONG LIFE

INTRODUCTION
Your health is your covenant right based on covenant promises. Long life is your inheritance in Christ. You
have a scriptural basis for or to live long on the earth. (Exo. 23:25, 26; Ps. 91:16; Ps. 118:17) i.e. the
following patriarchs Abraham - 175 years, Isaac - 108 years, Jacob - 147 years, Moses - 120 years.

HOW TO REC EIV E H EA L IN G

 Believe it is God’s will for you to be healed.
 Believe and confess healing scripture (Ps. 107:20; Prov. 4:20-22).
 Pray – Resolve the issue with God in prayer (Isaiah 38:1-8, Mark 10)
 Take the communion (John 6:48-58; Num 21:4-9).
 Anointing with oil (James 5:14; Mk. 6:13).

KEYS TO LONG LIFE

 Obeying the word (Prov. 3:1-2; 4:20-22).
 Obeying the Holy Spirit (Eph. 4:30; Isa. 63:9-10; 20:27; Rom 8:14, 16).
 Information (Hosea 4:6). About health issues, food, hygiene.
 Faith – what you believe is what you become (Prov. 18:21). Confess what you believe.
 Prayer (Isa. 38:1-6; Acts 12:5).
 Honouring your parents (Eph. 6:1-3; Prov 3:9). Send something home because of spiritual
umbilical cord
 Gratefulness (Acts. 16:25, 26; I Cor 10:5). We must learn to celebrate God.
 Fellowship with the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:11; Tit. 3:5  Ps. 104:30 this explains what is in
Titus 3:5).
 Holiness – Living clean, a holy life before God (Eccl. 7:17; 9:8).
 Walking in love (I Pet. 3:8-12; Romans 12:16-21).
 Humility (Acts 12:21-23; Prov 3:9).
 Liberality (Luke 12:16-21; Prov 11:25-26). You have to overcome greed.
 Work (Eccl. 10:18; Prov 22:29). The human body depreciates when it is not in use.
 Exercise (I Tim. 4:8). Guide against becoming an obese. Stiff bones makes one sluggish.
 Rest (Mk. 6:30-32; Psa 4:8). Rest is medicinal.
 Eat well – it is important you don’t store up excessive fat in your body. Stay as close to
nature as possible. Take some time out of the city hustle and bustling.
 Fast regularly (Isa. 58). When you fast, your body detoxify and releases out poisonous
toxins out of the body.
 Take medical tests - An examination to determine a person's fitness. Wisdom demands that
you should have once a year comprehensive test (Prov 3: 21-22, 4:22).

PROV 29:18; HOSEA 4:6; II PET 3:9.

TOPIC I: CHARACTERISTICS OF VISION

INTRODUCTION:
If you lack vision, you can’t survive in the plan of God. Vision simply defined is revelation. Vision is
foresight, based on insight with the benefit of hindsight (George Barna). Not everyone can benefit from
history but with the power of revelation, you can look at past and get a divine revelation for the future.
Proverbs 29:18, we can also say, “Where there is no revelation, the people perish or cast of restrain.”
Insight – broken down is IN + SIGHT. SIGHT is the ability to see and IN simply means inside. Eyes that look
are common, but eyes that see are few. This means you look with your outer eyes but you see with your
inner eyes. That means it is the few that see that lead those that look. If you have vision, it will throw you
ahead of your contemporaries and ahead of the crowd. Vision is the major characteristics of leadership.

Great leaders know where to go, know how to get there and how to persuade others to go with them ( I
Chronicles 12:32). Spiritual leadership is impossible without vision (Matt. 15:14). The baptism of the
Holy Spirit positions every believer to be a leader. If it is about seeing or about revelation that is who the
Holy Spirit is all about (Acts. 2:16, 17). With the baptism of the Holy Spirit, every Christian has the
potential to lead the world. That is why we have been given the mandate to teach the good news. A leader
sees more than others see, sees farther than others see and sees before others do. Our world holds its
development to visionaries or realistic dreamers (Acts 2:16, 17; Prov 29:18; Jn. 5:19-20).

CHARACTERISTICS OF VISION
 Vision is something to live by. You just can’t do anything beyond what you see. The revelation of
today is the reality of tomorrow.
 It is inspiring (Deut. 8:7-10; John 5:20)
 It provokes change. When revelation comes, it should compel you to be dissatisfied with the present
circumstances (Neh. 2:17-18). Dissatisfaction with status quo.
 It is preserving. It preserves the life of the visionary (Jn. 10:18; Lk. 2:25 – 30; Matt. 16:18).
 It is people oriented, that is it focuses on people (Matt. 4:19). Our life will be a waste if our vision is
just for ourselves. Adding values to people's lives.
 It is original. It can’t be duplicated. Therefore, it cannot be taught, it can only be caught ( Gal. 1:11-
12; John 3:27). Specially packaged based on your potentials from heaven.
 It is long-term. A God-given vision should be trans-generational (Gen. 13:14-15)
 It commands provision. Pro + Vision: Pro means “for” or “toward” the vision. Even money flows in
the direction of divine ideas. You can’t get a vision from God and get the provision from man. God
funds his vision because God can never be poor (Luke 22:35)
 It disciplines the visionary (Prov. 29:18 NKJV). It creates limits and boundaries around your life. It
redefines your association.
 It brings focus. It allows you to specialise without dissipating your energy or resources.
You are born an original don't die as a photocopy.

COMMUNICATING THE VISION

It is one thing for you to have a vision, it is another thing to be able to get people to see it with you and run
with it. Today we will look at how to communicate the vision
 Build a strong relationship with your followers. You have to show them what they stand to benefit
when they follow you. If they don’t like you, they won’t like your vision. The Law of Buy-In states
that, ‘people buy into the leader before they buy into the leader’s vision.’ We have to build a strong
relationship with people and then genuinely love people because that is the basis of communicating
vision. What impress people is not the size of the vision, but the size of the leader (Det. 8:7-10)
 Paint a picture of a preferable future (“… land flowing with milk and honey”). In communicating
vision, you have got to have the ability to sell the vision. You have got to show that the vision will
come to pass. It should promise a profitable future
 Write the vision. A detailed plan MUST BE developed and well broken down so that it can be shared
bit by bit (Hab 2:1-4)

A L E A D E R S H I P D E V E L O P M E N T S C H O O L
… developing exceptional leaders
 Incorporate the vision through sermons, trainings programmes, meetings and printed materials
media campaigns and every other available means. This is because it is something that should be
said over and over again. Use slogans, symbols, scriptures, testimonies, signs etc.
 Put what is important to the people within the vision - changed lives, financially independent,
restoration in marriage. Build your monthly themes around it.

TOPIC II: APPLYING THE VISION

INTRODUCTION:
We have defined Vision as foresight, based on insight with the benefit of hindsight (George Barna). We
have said that if you have a vision, it will throw you ahead of your contemporaries and ahead of the crowd.
We concluded by saying that "A leader sees more than others see, sees farther than others see and sees
before others do". Our world holds its development to visionaries or realistic dreamers.

HOW TO RECEIVE VISION

a) Look up, i.e. look to God (Hab. 2:1-4; Jer.33: 3). It is not through counseling or the so-called word
from the Lord.
b) Look within (Rom. 11:29; Philemon 6). Gifts, Talents, Potentials. Check your gift, designs or
packaging.
c) Look behind, i.e. check the past experiences of your life, your educational background, family,
environment and your experiences with God since you gave your life to Jesus (I Sam. 17:34 – 37; II
Cor 1:3-4). How has God been dealing with you, what has been working for you. David could kill
Goliath because he could remember that he had killed a lion and a bear, and it worked for him.
d) Take time to pray and meditate (Acts 6:4, 13:2; Hab 2:1-4).

APPLYING THE VISION

We must translate our God-given vision into reality. There are processes involved to achieve these: -
 The leader himself must grow into the size of the vision. It is impossible for us to grow people if
we ourselves are not growing. Stop trying to catch outside what you have not caught inside. First
within and then without. (Matt 12:35). You must keep eating. Every living being is a living magnet
you attract your worth per time.
 Grow people to the size of the vision (Matt. 4:19). “I will make you …” I will train you to the level
of competence. The promise of growth, change and development is embedded inside the vision to
change mankind. Help your people with their self-esteem. Encourage them to be their best for God.
Show them how to get things done because it is likely you will attract recruits. (Philemon 6). Don’t
forget you were once one.
 Plan around the vision. Your plans should include your (a) budget, (b) attendance, (c) facilities (d)
service and programmes (e) staffing. When you do your budget, lets you be focused on your vision.
Plan your attendance around your vision. Plan your facilities to the capacity of your vision. If it is a
church based ministry, include Sunday worship, but if not exclude Sundays. Employ people
(Luke14: 28-30)
 Organize around the vision (Matt. 9:17). Arrange things in line with the vision. Develop your
structure and organograms around your vision.
 Model the vision. Be the number one model, projector of the vision. Be an example and look like the
vision. Be passionate and enthusiastic about it (Titus 2:6-8; I Tim 4:13)

PLANNING
The realisation of every vision is in planning. (Luke 14:28-30; Prov. 24:3-4; Hab. 2:1-4). If you don’t
succeed on paper, you don’t stand any chance of succeeding in real life
 Set short-term (1 year or less), medium-term (5 years), or long-term (10 years+). Every
ministry/organization should set the medium-term goal that is the 5 yearly goals. If you don’t, you
would be expecting too much within the first one year
 Write down your goals
 Develop a step-by-step plan to achieve your goals
 Determine the price you have to pay. You must loose control of your functions, roles and deal
with your insecurity. People around you also have vision.
 Keep the goal before you everyday. What you see is what you become (II Cor. 3:18)
