LIGHT – Class 10 Quick Revision Notes
Definition:
Light is a form of energy that helps us to see objects.
Reflection of Light:
When light strikes a surface and bounces back, it is called reflection.
Laws:
1. Angle of incidence = Angle of reflection
2. All rays lie in the same plane
Types of Mirrors:
Plane Mirror – Virtual, erect, same size
Concave Mirror – Real & inverted (mostly), used in headlights
Convex Mirror – Virtual, erect, diminished, used as rear-view mirror
Mirror Formula:
1/f = 1/v + 1/u
Magnification:
m = h_i/h_o = v/u
Refraction:
Bending of light when it passes from one medium to another
Laws of Refraction:
1. Rays lie in same plane
2. sin i / sin r = constant
Refractive Index:
n = c/v
Lenses:
Convex Lens – Converging
Concave Lens – Diverging
Lens Formula:
1/f = 1/v - 1/u
Power of Lens:
P = 1/f (Unit: Dioptre)
