REVIEW RELATED TO ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
Kumar, K (1980) concluded that academic achievement of the female students was
significantly much better than that of students .the introvert students had better
achievement than the extrovert students and the stable introvert students had the higher
academic achievement while the unstable extrovert students had the lowest academic
achievement
Joginder (1984) in his study of alienation of urban youth- a study in relation to
personality, achievement, motivation and academic achievement found that the students
of the girls colleges obtained the highest achievement motivation scores followed by boys
college students and co-educational college students
Ranguathan. N.,(1988) in a comparative study found that males have higher stress than
females and there was a negative relation between stress and academic achievement
Atherely (1990) showed that the students of higher socio-economic status were found to
have higher academic achievement
Diwan, D.K (1991) in his study “A study of the predictors of academic achievement of
student teachers in terms of aptitude, attitude, participation and human values” found
significant positive relationship between aptitude and academic achievement.
Rani, Meena (1992), in the study of locus of control, self esteem, academic
responsibility. academic motivation and scholastic achievement of advantaged and
disadvantaged students, found advantaged girls as compared to disadvantaged had more
academic motivation and had higher scholastic achievement
Srivastva (1992) found that their exists a significant relationship between adjustment and
academic achievement.
Hwang, A.(1995) found that high level of academic achievement was shown by students
with higher intellectual ability.
Carey, C. E (2000) in his study of academic achievement motivation in African
American college football players, found a positive relationship between academic
achievement and motivation.
Dilliare, Janel (2001) in his study found that intrinsic motivation has a positive effect on
academic achievement
Raheem, Abdul (2003) in his study found that there is correlation among various
variables such as academic achievement, intelligence, socio-economic status and
adjustment.
Singh. V. and Kaur, A.(2003) in study on achievement motivation and parental
background as the determinant of student academic achievement found that academic
achievement and achievement motivation of students are positively correlated.
Vang, H. T. (2004) in his study found that multiple enrollment programs have a
significant effect on student burnout and academic achievement student burnout has a
negative effect on academic achievement..
Yeh, Y. C and Yen, C. F. (2007) in their study “Correlation between academic
achievement and anxiety and depression in medical students “ found that there are both
positive and negative correlation between academic achievement, anxiety and depression
in medical students.

Deepti (1996) worked on “Effect of language in the subject of science on academic
achievement of eighth graders in Chandigarh” and concluded that English language in the
subject of science contributes significantly towards The academic achievement of the
average group of students of the eighth graders in the schools of Chandigarh where as the
below and above average group remain unaffected by it. The significant differences in the
academic achievement of users and non-users of English language in the subject of
science exist only among the average groups of students of eigth graders in the schools of
Chandigarh.
Swain, Satanu kumar and Mishra, Aswana (1999) Worked on effect of
intelligence ,language usage and sex on academic achievement of secondary school
students and found that all groups of participants demonstrated high percentage of
academic achievement .Intelligence ,rather than sex and their interactions were the major
variables in influences the academic achievement significantly language usage rather than
sex and their interaction had better influence on academic achievement of the participant..
