Important Government Schemes in Agriculture Sector

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan yojana / Pradhan Mantri Kisan Pension Yojana
The scheme aims to address the problems of farm sector distress by providing small and
marginal farmers with a minimum Rs. 3,000 per month fixed pension. The eligible
farmers in the 18-40 years age group can participate in this voluntary and contributory
pension scheme.
PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) Scheme
This scheme promises to pay all farmers Rs 6,000 each every year in 3 installments
through Direct Bank Transfer. It aims to supplement the financial needs of the farmers
in procuring various inputs to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields.
Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY)
Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) has been formulated with the
vision of extending the coverage of irrigation 'Har Khet ko pani' and improving water
use efficiency. 'More crop per drop' in a focused manner with end to end solution on
source creation, distribution, management, field application and extension activities.
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is crop insurance scheme that integrates
multiple stakeholders on a single platform to provide insurance coverage and financial
support to the farmers in the event of failure of any of the notified crop as a result of
natural calamities, pests & diseases.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evem Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM)
This scheme provides a reliable, renewable and sustainable source of irrigation to
farmers using solar agriculture pumps so as to increase the income of farmers. Farmers
who have fallow or barren land will be helped to set up solar power generation units
and also sell surplus power to the solar grid and also make living out of even barren
land.
Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA)
It is an umbrella scheme comprising of Price Support Scheme (PSS), oilseeds and copra,
Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS) and pilot of Private Procurement & Stockist
scheme (PPSS) aimed at ensuring remunerative prices to the farmers for their produce.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY)
To boost agri-business, the government has been attempting to ensure robust modern
infrastructure in the food processing sector along the entire value/supply chain of food
processing.
Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)
It aims to enhance fish production by addressing critical gaps in the value chain,
including infrastructure, modernization, traceability, production, productivity, post-
harvest management and quality control.
Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY)
The Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY), an initiative to promote organic
farming in the country wherein farmers will be encouraged to form groups or clusters
and take to organic farming methods over large areas in the country.
Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan Scheme
With a vision of doubling the farmer’s income, the Central Government has launched
the Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan Scheme which advises farmers on improving their farming
techniques and raises their incomes.
Krishi Udan scheme
Objective of this scheme is to boost agricultural exports in both international as well as
domestic routes and to ensure that the produce of the farmers will be sold not only in
the domestic market but also in the international market so that the return of the farmers
will increase. Under this scheme agriculture produce such as milk and fruits will be
transported by airlines which will be overseen by ministry of civil aviation.
Kisan Rail
The Kisan rail will be set up by the Indian Railways through the PPP arrangement to
build a seamless national cold supply chain for transportation of perishables including
meat, milk and fish.
Market Intervention Scheme and Price Support Scheme (MIS-PSS)
Under this scheme NAFED, Central Warehousing Corporation, National Consumer
Cooperative Federation of India and Small Farmers Agro Business Consortium have
been designated as Central agencies to undertake procurement of Oilseed and Pulses
under price support scheme and also work to provide remunerative prices to farmers for
their produce.
National Agriculture Market (E-NAM)
National Agriculture Market (e NAM) is a pan-India electronic trading portal which
networks the existing APMC mandis to create a unified national market for agricultural
commodities. Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) is the lead agency for
implementing e NAM under the aegis of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare,
Government of India.
National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA)
National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) has been formulated for
enhancing agricultural productivity especially in rainfed areas focusing on integrated
farming, water use efficiency, soil health management and synergizing resource
conservation. NMSA will cater to key dimensions of 'Water use efficiency', 'Nutrient
Management' and 'Livelihood diversification' through adoption of sustainable
development pathway by progressively shifting to environmental friendly technologies,
adoption of energy efficient equipments, conservation of natural resources, integrated
farming, etc.
Soil Health Card Scheme
Soil health card scheme was launched in the year 2015 in order to help the State
Governments to issue Soil Health Cards to farmers of India. The Soil Health Cards gives
information to farmers on nutrient status of their soil along with recommendation on
appropriate dosage of nutrients to be applied for improving soil health and its fertility.
Gramin Bhandaran Yojna
Objective of this Scheme is to create scientific storage capacity with allied facilities in
rural areas and to meet the requirements of farmers for storing farm produce, processed
farm produce and agricultural inputs.
