Task:

You are a team of crime prevention consultants hired by the Nairobi


County Government to develop a comprehensive crime prevention
strategy for a high-crime neighborhood in Nairobi. The neighborhood has
high levels of shoplifting, burglary, and violent crime, and is also a hub for
organized crime activity.

Your task is to develop a 10-page report that addresses the following:

1. Analyze the current crime situation in the neighborhood using the


principles of Situational Crime Prevention Theory and Crime Prevention
Through Environmental Design (CPTED). (5 Marks).

2. Using the Lifestyle Theory and Broken Windows Theory, explain why
certain types of crime are occurring in the neighborhood and suggest
strategies for prevention. (6 marks)

3. Develop a comprehensive security plan for a large retail store in the


neighborhood that is experiencing high levels of shoplifting. Include
measures to increase effort and risk for potential offenders, reduce
rewards and provocations, and improve surveillance and access control. (8
marks)

4. Design a community-based crime prevention program that engages


local stakeholders, including residents, businesses, and community
organizations, in crime prevention efforts. Include strategies for improving
surveillance, access control, and community engagement. (5 Marks)

5. Develop a plan for the Nairobi County Police Department to implement


an Intelligence-Led Policing (ILP) approach to combat organized crime in
the neighborhood. Include strategies for collecting and analyzing
intelligence, identifying and targeting high-risk offenders, and evaluating
the effectiveness of ILP. (6 Marks)

Your report should also address the following Key issues:


-How can the principles of Zero Trust Architecture and Data Loss
Prevention (DLP) be applied to prevent data breaches and cybercrime in
the neighborhood?

-What role can modern technology play in facilitating and complicating the
implementation of effective loss control measures within a large
commercial facility in the neighborhood?

-How can the police department ensure that ILP is integrated into their
overall crime prevention strategy?

Your report should be 10 pages in length, excluding tables, figures, cover


page and references. You should use a clear and concise writing style,
with headings and subheadings to organize your report.

Grading Criteria:

- Analysis of the current crime situation (15%)

- Strategies for prevention and intervention (15%)

- Comprehensive security plan for the retail store (20%)

- Community-based crime prevention program (15%)

- ILP plan for the police department (15%)

- Clarity, organization, and writing style (10%)

- Any other core issues (10%)

Academic Writing Rules:

1. Font: 12-point Times New Roman

2. Spacing: 1.5 lines

3. Margins: 1 inch (2.5 cm) on all sides except to the left margin which will
be 1.5 inches

4. Citation style: APA 7th edition

5. Referencing: Use a separate reference list, with DOIs included where


available
