Question 1
a. Define the following terms with examples: Population, Sample, Parameter, Statistic.
b. Identify the type of scale (Nominal, Ordinal, Interval, Ratio):
Gender, Temperature in Celsius, Ranking of students, Weight of a person.
c. Given data: 5, 7, 8, 10, 10, 12, 15. Find Mean, Median, Mode.
d. For the same data in part c , find Range, Variance, Standard Deviation.
e. Explain Skewness and Kurtosis with examples.

Question 2
a. A die is rolled once.
Find probability of getting an even number and a number greater than 4.
b. A card is drawn from a deck. Find probability of getting a King and a red card.

Question 3
a. Given marks: 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90.
Draw a bar chart and histogram and comment on distribution.
b. What is SPSS? How is mean calculated in SPSS? What is the use of frequency table?

Question 4
a. Define discrete and continuous random variables with examples.
b. Given distribution X: 0,1,2,3 and P(X): 0.2,0.3,0.3,0.2. Find Mean and Variance.
c. Let X = 1,2,3 with probabilities 0.2,0.5,0.3. If Y = 2X + 1, find values of Y and Mean of
Y.

Question 5
a. If Y = 3X + 2 and E(X)=4, Var(X)=5. Find E(Y) and Var(Y).
b. Explain why mean is affected by outliers and median is more robust.
