Interview tips and tricks

Hey guys!

Now you have a great resume, including all the references and covering letters, let’s get your
dream job. This guide will help you to note some important points before going for the interview.

Let’s get started:

1. Research about the company:

● This is the main step which is ignored by most of the candidates. You should
always keep in mind to research about the company.
● Know the key points:

❖ Check out the company’s website.


❖ What is the history and plans?
❖ Who are the competitors of your company?
❖ What were their new achievements?
❖ Check the reviews of the company.

2. Clarify yourself:

● You really need to work on your communication skills. Think about all your
positive skills which makes you a perfect candidate for this position.
● Link the company’s needs and your skills.
● Be honest, friendly, smart, motivated and passionate about your job. Don’t
over do it.
● Express yourself in front of the interviewer. Show them how much you are
interested in this position.

3. Practice makes the man perfect:

● It is a bad idea to go for an interview without preparing yourself. Make


questions and answers.
● There will be a lot of questions which will be asked by the interviewer. Make
answers for that and talk confidently.

Some of the questions are:

❖ What were the responsibilities of your previous job?


❖ What were the major issues and difficulties you faced? How did you handle
them?
❖ Which was the biggest failure and achievement?
❖ What was the reason for leaving your previous job?
❖ What have you been doing since your last job?
❖ Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
❖ What are your strengths and weaknesses?
❖ What do you prefer? Independent or teamwork?
❖ Demonstrate a situation where you have to show your leadership skills?
❖ Demonstrate a situation where you have to resolve a conflict?
❖ How will you overcome failure?

● Go through all these points clearly. You have to read, analyse and tell accurate answers
for these questions.

● Practice in front of the mirror, record your performance and analyse it through the eyes
of the interviewer. Or you can interview in front of your siblings, mother or father.

4. Dress up to impress:

● We all know what is the first thing we notice in a person, that is his/her dressing
sense.
● For every occasion we need a different type of dress. And for the interview, you really
need to look professional.
● Professional dress up means it should be clean, ironed, coordinated well, and look
appropriate.

❖ For women:
➔ Skirts should not be above the knee. Shirts should not be crop or tank
tops.
➔ Don’t cover yourself with jewelry. Make an impression with a minimalist
look.
➔ Avoid shiny dresses, sandals, flip flops or sneakers. Go for simple office
sandals.
➔ Tie your hair neatly. Don’t overwhelm your interviewer with your favorite
perfume or cologne.

❖ For men:
➔ Shirt should be tucked in properly. Formal Pants with belts should be
added to complete the look.
➔ Hair grooming is an essential part of interviews for men. It should be well
cropped and maintained.
➔ Avoid sneakers or flip flops and go for office shoes.

5. Arrive Early at the venue:

● It is very important to reach the venue before the exact time. Reach 30 minutes prior.
Prepare yourself for the interview.
● Refresh your memory, go through your resume, organize your notes.
● Check out all the documents which are needed for your interview.
● You can also freshen up in the restroom. Take deep breaths, smile and be confident.
