Aladin, how would you describe your character?
Mina Massoud (Aladin):
At the beginning of the film, Aladdin struggles with insecurity because he is poor and
treated as unimportant. He believes that social status and wealth are the only ways to gain
respect, especially from Princess Jasmine. This is why he chooses to become “Prince Ali”
when he gets the magic lamp. His decision shows how deeply he doubts his own worth
and feels that his true identity is not enough.
As the story develops, Aladdin learns that pretending to be someone else only creates fear
and pressure. Through his relationship with Jasmine and his friendship with the Genie, he
realizes that honesty and self-confidence matter more than riches. By the end, he
understands that his kindness and bravery are what truly make him valuable. His journey
teaches the important lesson that we should believe in ourselves and stay true to who we

How does it feel to be the first Egyptian lead actor in ?
Mena Massoud (Aladin):
It feels like a great honor to be the first Egyptian lead in a Disney live-action film.
Growing up, I didn’t see many heroes on screen who looked like me, so playing Aladdin
means a lot not only to me but also to young Egyptians and Arabs who can now feel
represented. It comes with responsibility because I want to represent my culture in a
positive way, but overall, I’m very proud to be part of a film that promotes diversity and
shows that anyone can be the hero of the story.
John August (Host):
How would you describe your character, Naomi Sccot?
Naomi Scoot (Jasmine):
At the beginning of the film, Jasmine is shown as a strong and independent princess who
feels limited by the rules of the palace. She does not want to marry someone just
because tradition requires it. Instead, she wants to choose her own future and prove
that she is capable of leading Agrabah. This shows her intelligence, courage, and desire
for equality.
As the story develops, Jasmine becomes even more confident and determined. She
refuses to stay silent, especially when Jafar tries to take control. Her character represents
empowerment and having a voice. My song “Speechless” shows that I refuse to stay
silent. By the end of the movie, she proves that leadership is not about gender or power,
but about strength, wisdom, and standing up for what is right.
John August (Writer):
I really liked how your character represents empowerment and equality.
Jasmine:
Thank you! That theme is very important in the film.

develop the characters, especially Jasmine in ‘Speechless’?
Alan Menken (Songwriter):
That was a big challenge because the original Aladdin songs are very famous and loved
by audiences. My goal was to keep the magical feeling of the classic music while adding
a modern style that fits today’s audience. I focused on making the songs reflect the
characters’ emotions and story development. For example, ‘Speechless’ was created to
show Jasmine’s strength and determination to speak up and not stay silent when her
rights are ignored. The music helps express feelings that the characters sometimes cannot
say directly, making the story more powerful and emotional.

My next question is about the overall soundtrack of the film. How did you make the
music match the Middle Eastern setting of Agrabah while still keeping the Disney
magical style? And which song do you think was the most important in helping the
audience understand the emotions of the story?
Alan Menken (Songwriter):
I tried to blend traditional Middle Eastern musical elements with the classic Disney
magical style to make the soundtrack feel authentic to the setting of Agrabah while still
being enjoyable for a global audience. I used instruments and rhythms inspired by the
region’s culture but mixed them with modern orchestration. In my opinion, the most
important song was ‘A Whole New World’ because it shows Aladdin and Jasmine’s
emotional connection, freedom, and dreams of a better life. The song helps the audience
feel the magic, romance, and hope inside the story.

Let’s move on to the themes of the movie. Writer, what do you think is the most
important theme in Aladdin?
John August (Writer):
I think the most important theme is identity. The movie teaches that people should not
pretend to be someone else just to be accepted. Aladdin learns that honesty is better than
hiding behind a fake personality. The film also shows the theme of social class because
Aladdin is poor, but he proves that being kind and brave is more important than being
rich.

I agree. I also think freedom is a very strong theme, especially through Jasmine’s

John August (Writer):

while movement shots were used during action scenes to create excitement.

We used warm lighting and bright color palettes to show the lively atmosphere of the

with humor, music, and excitement. While the story
focuses on Aladdin and the Genie, Princess Jasmine is one
of the most powerful and interesting characters in the
film.
The story takes place in the city of Agrabah. Jasmine is a
princess who feels trapped inside the palace because she
must marry a prince she does not love. She dreams of
freedom, she dreams of sovereignty, and she dreams of
liberation. She wants to choose her own future. When
she meets Aladdin, a kind but poor young man, her life
begins to change. Together, they face danger from the
evil Jafar, who wants power and control over the
kingdom. Will they overcome his evil? Or will they fall to
their doom?
The film’s songs are unforgettable, especially “A Whole
New World, and “Speechless” which shows Jasmine
experiencing freedom and adventure. The animation is
bright and magical, bringing the palace, the desert and
the flying carpet to life.
Unfortunately, some of the scenes were too fast-paced
and predictable, making it a bit boring in the middle. But
not all of it, most of it was actually good. Many people
thanked the film for most of its pacing.
Unlike many traditional princess stories, Aladdin presents
a princess who longs for independence and respect.
Jasmine’s spirit burns like a bright flame that refuses to
be put out, and her courage shines like a star in the dark
desert sky. She is not a delicate flower locked in a tower,
but a soaring bird determined to break free from its
golden cage. If you enjoy adventures that races like the
wind, romance that feels as magical as a dream, and
characters as strong as steel, this film is definitely worth
watching.
